  1. whens the next entrance social stewy?????? i need a new hangover and the last entrance social was one of the best ones i've ever had
  2. two years ago we took the kids out on mort bay to watch the fireworks and couldnt believe that there were only 4 boats in the bay (50,000 people crammed along the shore ) we are thinking of doing it again this year and thought if any other raiders wanted to raft up we could get one hell of a party going. mort bay is very protected and the only downside is that you cant see the lower deck of the bridge.
  3. thats what i like about this place, you meet people and make friends you would otherwise never have come in contact with (and boaties get deckies that know what their doing )
  4. i put that option in with you in mind
  5. i thought it might be interesting to see what the break up of boaters to landbased would be.
  6. it's been over a year since i launched at the hole in the wall, at low tide you have to watch out for the drop off at the end of the ramp. i tried to retrieve my boat there and got my trailer wheel in the hole and couldnt get it out with the boat on (duel axle trailer 5.25mtr glassboat) had to drive around to the holt road ramp and retrieve it there, it was a long climb up from the water to the trailer at low tide there. i ended up joining the st george motorboat club and now use their ramp 99% of the time.
  7. an easier way to keep the bow up is to trim the motor out a little way but that has to be balanced out with the fact that the higher the bow is the more wind it catches and the lighter your steering gets. if you google "sydney boating course" you will find many places that do licence courses which have on water practical sessions. i just had a look at weatherzone and yesterday at midday the wind swung to the south and was blowing at 38kts gusting to 45kts and stayed in the mid to high 20's for the rest of the day, i wouldnt be out on the bay in a 25 footer in those conditions.
  8. how much did you pay rob to accept responsability for the catty stewy? (we know your the catfish king)
  9. many years ago (when i could be bothered pumping worms) i use to find it easier to blow them out of the holes. i would go into the shallows place the pump over a hole and pump down. that would force the air out of the pump and down the hole, watch around the other holes in the area and see worms pop out of them. one pump use to result in two or three (sometimes more) worms with minimum effort. but it has been about 10 years since ive done it down on the flats east of cooks bridge near the sailing club.
  10. my daughter and i were out there too, we got outside and trolled north in washing machine conditions for nothing, got back in the bay and couldnt raise a fish (only using plastics) slow trip back to the motorboat club, even had a swell come over the screen at towra point well done on the trevs and anchor
  11. i dont find anything funny about that list. it's a pretty reasonable one that will be printed off and handed out to anyone intending to date one of my daughters.
  12. seems like good news (if you can call it that) both drivers are now reported to be in bathurst hospital in a critcal condition. heres hopeing they pull through and suffer no long term injuries
  13. late start on the bay tomorrow with the daughter. hope to hit the water about 8:30 then troll up to yellow rock. if theres no luck it will be back into the bay to catch some bread and butter fish to re-stock the freezer.
  14. THIS IS UNCONFIRMED!!!!!! the latest news is that one of the drivers has suffered a broken neck and passed away. i have been given his name but feel i shouldnt write it untill it is confirmed. i'm praying that it is just hyped up track rumour but my source is very reliable and he is inconsolable at the moment.
  15. me too rob , the reports on tv are contradicting the reports from the track so we can only hope.

i just got a call from a mate on the mountain, there was a major accident in the developmental series that happened right in front of him, he says they removed two drivers under tarps and the ambulances didnt leave after putting them inside. the police were up there taking photos and mesurements, which would seem to indicate at least 1 fatality, my mate is of the opinion that both drivers have passed away. THIS IS ONLY SPECULATION FROM AN EYE WITNESS AND I PRAY IT IS INCORRECT. i will post more details as i get them
  17. it was a pretty good game but i think there was a 10 point swing courtesy of the ref's, both penalty goals to qld were a crock, and the matt king try was fair (in my opinion) who knows what the outcome would have been if those hadn't happened. gotta give it to brisbane though. 6 appearances in the big show for 6 wins thats one hell of an effort.
  18. hopefully there will still be a couple left in a fortnight
  19. that was sharky washing the anchor i weigh a bit more than him and do you think i would trust him with a hammer?
  20. i decided to do some work on my boat so i got sharky around to help me. heres a video of what we did, we are thinking of opening our own shop. http://www.metacafe.com/watch/32107/laurel...y_fishing_boat/

  22. from news.com.au A ROCK fisherman who fell four metres from a rock ledge on a Sydney beach has escaped with just a fractured elbow. The 22-year-old man from Harbord, was fishing at Blue Fish Point near Manly, when he fell from a rock ledge at about 7am (AEST) today, a Westpac Life Saver Helicopter spokeswoman said. He plunged four metres but was fortunate to escape with just a fracture to his right elbow. "Four metres – he was very lucky only to have hurt his elbow," the Life Saver spokeswoman said. He was winched to a waiting ambulance and has been taken to hospital.
  23. has anyone tried using it as leader? the 17 pound is the same diameter as 12 pound mono so i was thinking of trying it out on one of my 8 pound braid outfits. heres a link to its specs. http://www.fishplatypus.com.au/pink.htm
