  1. nice fish mako you said you were stuffed after a few drops??????? mate i'd be stuffed on the way down on the first drop just thinking about the retrieve my hat goes off to anyone keen enough to fish those deep waters.
  2. nice fish netic, pity your mate dropped his.
  3. thanks for the offer cameron but it looks like he will be going for a timber one now. his boat has been on the water twice in the past 6 years and after seeing me bring home the YFT he's decided to pull his finger out.
  4. i'm helping my neighbour with his project boat and we are now at the stage where we are making an engine box (cover) for his shaft drive. it looks like we will be making it out of ply but in the search for weight minimization he would prefere a fibreglass one. only problem is we dont know how to do it and to have one made has been quoted at between $700 and $1000 if there is anyone who is experienced in glass work that would like to earn a few $$$ have a few and get invited out on trips on the completed boat for a lot of your help would be greatly appreciated.
  5. congrats mako, thats a nice set of fish and to get one on the eggbeater was a bloody good effort
  6. sweet lizard mate, good to see them comming back on the chew
  7. Fin everywhere that white would get the heart pumping for sure
  8. very nice result and a great way to introduce yourself here. what gear did you use? i could easily understand a long fight if you were useing anything lighter than 15 or 24kg
  9. congrats on the cherry popper any time you get a new species is a good reason to celebrate.
  10. you know how to make a guy jelous, 13kg albacore would put a smile on the dial and throw in a couple of fin.............top day on the water
  11. nice effort mate how did you cook the mother in law fish? my neighbour makes soup out of them but takes a long time to strain the bones out.
  12. top report guy's with the amount of botany bay fisho's we have in here now i'm thinking maybe a few social nights (possibly at the intersection) followed by social days on the bay would be a good idea when the weather starts warming up. great to see the ladies getting in on the excitement
  13. top effort netic i love fishing for big shark but its been many years since i've done it. we didnt use gaffs on the big ones, prefering to use tail ropes (after the shark was well worn out) then dragging the beast backwards leaving the hook lodged until it was drowned. before we started doing that many the time we thought we had beaten a shark only to have all hell brake loose after bringing it aboard. especially with big hammerheads its a good idea to have someone belt them with a priest when you have them alongside as they tend to come to the boat very green the first couple of times. pity about missing out on the fin but honestly i would prefer to be hooked up to a big mako when it comes to the adrenalin rush. (and despite what some people say about the mercury i think they are a top feed)
  14. great looking blue congrats on the PB, fish of the month is sure shaping up to be another hard one to pick this month.

What a great day thanks again to all who put in the effort to make it a great time for all . i have still to meet a raider that i dont like it was great to see so many families turning up. i heard a few positive comments from the public about how good it was that we didnt block the walkway with our numbers. heres a few pic's we took

  21. cornflake crumbed fillets ingredients firm fish fillets (trev's are great after the centre line has been removed) cornflakes flour egg milk onion garlic lemon, basil & thyme seasoning method in a food processor crumb corflakes to prefered consistancy (course crumbs dont combine as well with onion later but give a crunchier finish i prefer very fine crumbs) combine crumbs with finely chopped onion , garlic and seasoning to make a slightly damp crumb mix lightly coat fillets in flour, dip in lightly beaten egg with a little milk added roll in crumb mix and press it firmly to ensure coverage. the crumbed fish can now be cooked imediately shallow fried in very hot oil for 1 or 2 minutes till golden brown each side or bagged and frozen for a quick and easy meal later serve with a fresh garden salad and tatare sauce with a few cold beers
  22. top fish how long was the fight? and what gear did you get him on?
  23. well done guy's , and thanks for the offer of some fresh fish. gotta be the only time i've regreted having a full frige/freezer . hope your future catches arent an anticlimax after those brutes.
  24. "I had a dream that all fish were created equal" (martin luthur kingfish) to catch is human, to release devine keep you bait close, but your lures closer if you have a lure cast it free, if it comes back its yours, if it doesn't , it was taken by a kingie
