  1. ok this Brett guy is suposed to be a gun mechanic. but can anyone recommend one that will actually turn up 3 days i have now wasted waiting for him and he hasn't even bothered to call to say he couldnt make it. ok the first time i accepted his reason and resceduled but the next two!!!!!
  2. simple if it was enough, i'd get a bertram 50 if it wasn't enough for that it would be a 6.4 bar crusher and tow vehicle not enough for that???? ok i'll settle for alterations to my boat. underfloor kill tank, live well and esky
  3. they are fibreglass half moulds
  4. i got the bloke comming momday morning to have a look, i spent hours going over everything i could i'll let you know the result.
  5. ditto all the thanks to everyone but Ross your a legend, it was by far the best social i've attended as far as organisation goes and right up there with "the entrance" on the fun'o'meter. i dont think you missed a beat right down to providing the wind break that made the day comfortable for those that spent the whole day there. once again, well done mate
  6. what a day! great bunch of people and it was good to see the amount of kids there. our two ice maidens (daughter and her friend) had a blast and are looking forward to the next one already!
  7. if your useing anything that is likely to spin --- use a swivel when trolling or live baiting i have a snap swivel on my mainline then the rigs made up with loops to attach them, that makes it quick and easy to change them and helps stop line twist. if flicking plastics or dead baiting i'd go with just the uni knot
  8. does that include the LB fisho's ross? that stretch of beach is just about the only area that lb fisho's can fish in numbers and safety
  9. ross i have a limited number of maps of the bay i can bring on the day as well as some for other area's (first in first served) the bbq we used at the entrance is in the boot of my car now, the table is ready to go and if we get through all the eggs we are bringing we will be sprouting feathers. we are planning on being there at 5am
  10. sometimes she works, sometimes she dont. after making adjustments under load it packs it in all together. quite often the trim will come up but it wont kick into tilt other times after a few hits on the button the tilt will kick in. if it doesnt kick in and you have one person on the button and another just taking the weight off (pulling the motor up) the tilt will follow it up. on rare occasions it all works perfectly. clear as mud hey
  11. cheers rob, i have heard of him booked in for the 11th

    Tilt/trim

time has come to get my tilt trim problem sorted out, but the mob i usually use for repair work is booked out till well past xmas. does anyone know someone who is available?? peferably a mobile guy or are any of our members experienced in tilt trim diagnosis/repairs and want to pick up some xmas cash
  13. i use bait for catching bait or if i'm after a feed of trev's, but i'm now 90% lure fishing mate
  14. another vote here more for the people you meet rather than tips. the thing that surprises me the most is the number of young blokes i now consider mates. i've still yet to meet a raider i dont like. as far as tips go every trip with another raider is a learning experience for this old dog and my switch to lure fishing would have to be the biggest one.
  15. yep thats what i'll do first, then see how it goes.
  16. yeah i've done that before stewy, the skids are very old and look like they have at least 2 layers of strips on them so removeing and replaceing would probably be more useful in taking the load off them
  17. i'll get a pic next time i get the boat off, the trailer is old and the skids are impossible to adjust. your right about the skids only beieg for support and not load bearing. i might try just ripping off the old thick skid tops and putting new ones on first, see how that goes. thanks for all the opinions
  18. GAFF THE BAS@*$DS well done on the cherry popper
  19. i've got retriever mates on it (they're fantastic for getting the boat on straight) i'm not lifting the boat just tilting the trailer so it has a natural tendancy to lean away from the skid i'm removing. the problem with doing it at a ramp is the lack of power for the tools
  20. it's a 5.25 fibregalss half cab, shes a heavy boat and launching/retrieving is a right pain in the rear (especially if i'm solo). i've tried just raising the keel rollers but that only made it a little easier.
  21. glad one of us does will probably give it a shot in a couple of weeks
  22. sure will Brett, it's always good to have someone standing by ready to laugh and take pics when i screw someting up
  23. G'day all i'm planning on converting my trailer from skids to rollered and need opinions as to weather my planned method will work. its not really practical for me to do it with the boat off the trailer so i'm planning on doing it like this: 1. jack up one side of the trailer to transfer natural lean to one skid. 2. cut off the now non loadbearing skid at the two welded brackets on the frame 3. after grinding the frame flat and cold gal bolt on two sets of quad wobbles at the same point that the skid brackets were mounted. 4. raise the quads to fit snugly against the hull, tighten and lower off the jack. 5. rinse and repeat on the other side . can anyone think of a reason this wont work?
