  1. shit i'd go through that much in an empty boat to the near fad and back thats fantastic economy mate
  2. tough luck fella's but it will be a blood bath when you do get amongst them for sure. how did the boat go fuel wise sammy?
  3. gotta agree with you inked, we always keep a couple to eat, they go well as cutlets too fried with a few herbs
  4. its real lazy goeff, simply tie a loop in th line pass it through like a dropper pass the line down to the spikes then wrap it once around 1 spike on the main line to hold it against the line then down to the next and repeat etc. i found if you just have them hanging loose they will tangle so keeping them tight against the line is similar to a daisy chain. hope you can understand that i've had a few
  5. some of the bigger ones i've caught have been at the hot water outlet, not there in great numbers but the size is generally larger for some reason. watts reef is a more productive area. another way i've caught them is to be lazy, when drifting anywhere in the bay i have had a daisy chain type rig with 3 different sized squid jig (biggest on the bottom about 1/2 mtr apart) just bouncing along just off the bottom. i havent targeted them in over a year as i've been more into lure fishing so i hope someone can give you more up to date info.
  6. oh ok your story is more plausable but my story eases my concience. there is a moral to it though...... if your nuts arent tight dont go sticking your rod in it
  7. stickers look great sammy and the boats not too shabby either i have one of those rocket launchers too, i didnt use the screws that came with it, i riveted the pieces together and used heavier SS bolts to mount it. the only rod ever lost was when someone put a rod in a holder that they loosened first and moved it to 45 deg.
  8. what ever comes along bashir the questions i really have is what is the difference between the two types of line?, would 80lb leader line be stronger than normal mono of 120lb? the lures that i have the 80lb on are mainly used when trolling wide for fin but are also in the water at times in closer for that stray big king. i use 44lb mono (green) on my smaller skirts etc in closer for general trolling
  9. while looking through the garage i came accross a spool of 120lb mono that was hideing at the back of a shelf. this was the line that many years ago we used as leader for all our lures. when re-rigging my lures a couple of months ago i used 80lb leader line but now after finding the old spool the question came to mind "whats the difference?" (apart from the obvious breaking strain) which would you use for your medium size skirts and bibless minnows? the 80lb clear leader line or the blue 120lb mono??
  10. simple wish list for me. kings, dollies and sharks this summer i also want to get more landbased raiders out on the water to try tangling with the above
  11. the white glands are the milt sacks from males, the red are the ripe ovaries of females. my neighbour (who is greek) tells me that both are great eating if you fry them up, but i cant bring myself to try them
  12. it only gets better!!! my darling wife decided that because i work nights and wont see her for more than 5 minutes on my birthday (thursday) to also give me an early birthday. teaming up with sharky (she supplied the $$ he did the shopping) i now have two of my outfits loaded up with fireline, a couple of new quality lures (1 skirt 1 HB) and bless his soul , sharky heard me telling Teri i wanted a set of scales so without telling her he went and got me a sweet 10kg set thanks mate. so a fantastic fathers day watching the v8's with a few has become an even better day. watching v8's and playing with new tackle now i just need to go fishing hope all the dads on FR had a great day too
  13. you might want to reconsider http://www.metacafe.com/watch/143308/fishe...comes_the_bait/
  14. ok all you lucky dads, did you get the usual socks and jocks? my fathers day got off to a great start. 7 strand wire and decent hooks for a shark session bag of circle hooks and a new set of scales to weigh the catch (50lb max) top it off with breaky being cooked as i type this and the V8's running today with me parked in front of the tv with a few beers,
  15. nice feed sounds like a great session. i kept a shovel nose once to see what it was like on the plate. even the dog wouldnt eat it, maybe it was the cook but i wont be giving them a 2nd chance. plenty of better things to eat IMHO.
  16. if it wasnt so true it would be very funny

    Live Chat

although we no longer have live chat here there is an alternative (if its ok with the mods). we can take over a room in yahoo chat that isnt being used much. i'm currently in yahoo chat in "regional, australia, sydney global, room 48" with only bots for company i'll stay in this room and hold it open if anyone want to join for a live chat.
  18. well done on getting out there and scoreing a feed, we drove past the bay on the way in to the city this morning and it looked like a mill pond. if we werent going in to pick up inxs tickets i would have turned around and gone got the boat. was there any size to the black fish with the stripe?
  19. top stuff fella's, bet the mako got the adrenalin pumping.
  20. when i'm out on a family day i'm "outnumbered" by females when i'm out with fellow raiders fishing i'm "outnumbered" by real fisho's when i'm out having a couple of drinks with fellow raiders i'm "outnumbered " by real pisspots i think my boats name was a natural choice
  21. someone must have fed him english beef........mad dolphin disease???
  22. wow, theres some memories there! how about leaving home at sunup on weekends and not having to be home until the street lights came on, and your perents didnt have to worry about you. or getting caught by the cops doing something wrong and getting a kick in the arse and taken home for dad to dish out the punishment.
  23. couldnt believe it the day the boy's and i saw wedding pics being taken down at the waters edge there, with the bride in the full gettup ive never seen any of the lb fisho's there land anything of note (but i'm usually not watching them i supose)
  24. great report those bakers are very boney but the meat is sweet if you can be bothered. my neighbour makes a nice soup out of them but he tells me there is an art to getting it without the bones
