  1. I went out yesterday off port kembla same thing here Temp at wave rider was 21.3 passible but not a dollie to be had decided to go to the fisheries fad and as soon as I reach the fad 2 dollies jump out of the water!! I said to my son were in for a good session but we could not even catch one!! There was one other boat out there with no result so we decided to head back in and fish off the islands for one Salmon. Water Temp at the fad was 21.7 Cheers
  2. After a very average fishing holiday up in the Brisbane waters this saturday will be out to hopefully get some dollies out of Botany Cheers
  3. Hi mate I brought this subject up a few months ago but not much discussion eventuated out of it which I think is a shame cause not many people including my self ever think of it till it actually happens. Since then I have bought a hydrolic jack and it works like a breeze. Cheers
  4. Well I think that a cuddy cabin is what you are looking at, because you can fish out of it and also take the kids out and if they get tired you have a bit of a cabin for them to sleep or have a rest. My first boat was a BFG 4.75 and it was the right choice at the time as I had a 5 and 2 year old and Hawksbry and Brisbanewater trips were great or even Botany. This boat was great and use to go to the peak sydney and wollongong traps no problems(No kids) Today my boys have grown so we have a centre console as we need the room and is a great fishing platform. Cheers
  5. Scope you can do that very easily by going to your local tyre retailer and ask them to give you a couple of truck tyres(old) for free and just space one to catch the back and as the boat is coming off one on the front and the boat should stay steady. Best if you have a couple of friends on each side of the boat as it is coming off. Then just reverse your new trailer slowly while whinching it up and all done in 30 minutes. Cheers
  6. Thankyou for your comment, livo and Costa I'm amazed at the lack of kings but hell I'll give em a shot see what I can come up with. I hope I will have something to report! Dollies should show up shortly perhaps this year they might be a little sparse not the first time anyway. 22 ks from Boxhead not too bad still a long way out though, reminds me of the portstephens Fad long way out and came empty handed!! Cheers and thx
  7. Sharky that is some great usefull info there thx mate might come in handy never know!! Cheers
  8. Mate I know where to get the list from, as I already have the co ordinates in my gps I was more looking at a personal view from other raiders Cheers
  9. Hi Mate be patient I have been fishing these creatures for the past 20 years and this is just about the right time they arrive so get out there and get them Last year they came unusually early but it does not always happen. The rule is warm currents= dollies, the warm currents this year came pretty much spot on this year so they should be about cheers
  10. One more week to go for my holidays just getting everything together for the 2 weeks at Wagstaffe can't wait really all I have been doing is reading reports and haven't even ventured for a fish this year as yet. God some good reports, I find it hard to believe that no king reports from this area?? their keeping it a secret I say!! Anyhow back to the original post does anyone go out to the fisheries fad from the Brisbanewaters?? if so which one and how far out is it ? Maybe if I'm lucky I will post my first report from the area with some good captures and pics' Cheers

    Towed Home

I needed assistance when I had my first boat, was out of Brisbanewaters and motor would just not go. The water was not nice and even though I removed the cowling there was not much I could do cause I would have ended up in the drink. There was no Sea Tow them days anyhow coast guard came out and got me 2 hours later and once back on the ramp my young one at the time went to play with the prop and complained he could not turn it, found the gear linkage bolt had come off, so motor was still in gear. My new motor is only three years old but for a lousy $135 I joined SeaTow don't like hassling others for a tow on their fishing day. Cheers
  12. Good catch mate sounds encouraging hopefully I might be as successfull only thing I caught on sp so far are Pike at night. Cheers
  13. Wow did not know that!! where is the info on that?? How long ago did they ban the use of crab traps?? bloody hell just blew $80 for nothing. Cheers
  14. Hi guys will be going up to Wagstaffe ( Central Coast) for 2 weeks near the end of Feb and for the first time I will be trying to catch some blue swimmers crabs, is this time of month too late for this sort of thing?? can anyone guide me where to drop the traps?? just a general guide would do as I do not want you to give away any secret spots, perhaps that way I might get a response Cheers

    Sunscreen

There is no way I'll put that stuff on my hands when fishing, never did, never will, thats where disposable gloves come handy!! never leave home without them Cheers
  16. This has happened to everyone I think but the best remedy I found is throwing it in the boot of the car. You can weld it but be sure they'll steal the pin just to annoy you. Padlocks are out of the question they are not made for that sort of treatment and they will fail!! Cheers
  17. Geez Jethro looking at that last picture I can see your trouble mate perhaps undo the the out board bolts and slide the out board to the side to give you enough room for the ram to come out. Still what a pain of a set up that is!!! Cheers
  18. Mate if it is siezed midway down the cable what I'm telling you to do is remove the cable as a complete unit which means the outer black liner comes off as well and it should just come off easily. Cheers
  19. Mate looking at that picture the last one I assume you want to pull the cable out and yes there is no room but you are going the wrong way about it, because you want to pull it through instead of pushing it back through the hole in the transom so the end where the spanner is sitting must be pushed out not pulled from left to right, looking at the picture there is no need to take the motor off at all. Cheers
  20. Jethro if you want to get the cable out once you have taken the linkage off just push the cable in from the outboard end and not push out. Undo from steering end as well and pull it out from steering end using common sense ofcoarse. Cheers
  21. Lucas my centre consol also has a chequered plate floor but I have carpeting and it's not hot at all so if you get fried just carpet it and it will be fine cheers
  22. I had the same problem with my other boat and use to take off the linkage and just give it a bang with hammer and wood but to be honest once the problem starts it will never end and I agree with Netic go get a new cable!!!and problem solved they are not that expensive and you don't have to worry about it sticking again for a few years!! Remember fishing is stress releaving not the opposite Cheers
  23. Hey Mik last year the traps were no where to be seen are they still there or not???? and I'm not the only one that could not find them either most of my contacts said the same thing. let us know how you fared Cheers
  24. Domza these days many kids get their apprenticeships through organisations such as http://www.mygateway.org.au/ or http://www.australianapprenticeships.gov.a...h/aacsearch.asp Check it out Cheers and good luck
  25. Most times when launching the boat I do it at port kembla god knows how many times I have helped out someone but by the same token many times I have been helped as well especially when it is very windy and trying to retrieve the boat on the trailer and your on your own something I do pretty often. Anyhow the crowd down there deserve the
