  1. Hi Dragon well all I can say is that I did go yesterday mind you if I had it my way I would of cancelled it but I had an eager son that was determend to go and go we did and man did it rain!!!! How did we go??? one big zero but we mucked around with a few soft plastics and at the end, were catching juvenile snapper, that made the day oh and lost a nice flatty. Then at the boat ramp my winch cable snaps, now it is pouring rain Anyhow good luck I'll wait for drier weather Cheers
  2. Netic do you use this program to upload waypoints or routs onto your plotter?? and vice versa?? Cheers
  3. I have found that striped tuna don't have the stamina of the king but perhaps most would have a laugh at this but a good sized bonito has given me hell in the past and broke one of my prized rods that I had only just had rebinded a week before. Cheers
  4. Hi everyone, I would like to know what software you guys are using to manage your waypoints, preferably from raiders that have a garmin chartplotter any info would be appreciated cheers
  5. There is no way that the stocks are deminishing cause they are constantly breeding and grow at a phenominal rate so it is utter garbage to say stocks are being depleted. I have been fishing for dolphinfish since 1985 thats when I use to go out to the traps and no one was there to fish for them and even then you had seasons that were exceptional and others that were not so good, so nothing new is happening believe me and at this point of the season just early, normally I always started to get into the numbers late feb Cheers
  6. That's a giant of a fish what a great pic it makes. Well if these rains continue there's gonna be more of them beast out there Cheers

    Burley Pot

James I heard of a bloke who had a burley bucket arrangement on the back of the transom, was at the wave rider off wollongong and the shark ripped his bloody transom off and sunk him. These sort of things happen mate but I still have a burley bucket. Cheers
  8. Friend of mine had the same problem so he bought a troll easy, check it out on the solas site cheers

    Burley Pot

Choad I remember when I bought my first boat first couple of years did not have a burley bucket so I got an onion bag and use to fill it with dried bread with some pilchards and tuna oil, made a loop on the anchor rope about 3 metres from the anchor and use to tie the onion bag to that loop and it worked a bloody treat!!! The stale bread slowly erodes and would last a good 4 hours no problem. Cheers
  10. I might actually do some fishing this year Vessel name Dorado 2 Port kembla coast gaurd call sign ENS 509 Vessel 5mtr Clark Center console Cheers
  11. Bloody hell swordy you were keen in your younger day!!!!!! Cheers
  12. Yep just received my chartplotter from Bonzer last week and boy did I save a bundle, received goods within 4 days, packed very well no chance of damage. It is unfortunite to have to resort to buying overseas but why pay double?? Cheers
  13. For jewfish fishing you just can't go past an Alvey, yeah you do need a little bit of practice but find an oval and within an after noon with a bit of thought you will master it!! For that bit of effort you will reap the benefits which are greater casting distances by a long shot, more metres by far on the spool and you can buy the one with the star drag so you don't have to bruise or cut your hand and reel in your fish just as if your using an eggbeater. I have alot of eggbeaters but I never use them for beach fishing no way!! get yourself an Alvey and I'm sure you will curse my name for a short while but once converted you'll never use an eggbeater on a beach again!! Cheers
  14. With that sort of Temps no wonder a few are around, I have experienced same down south a couple of years ago where the temp was only 19.5 and up were coming the dollies, first time in 15 years that has happend but I suppose, if they're on the bite anything is possible, been out with 23 degrees and not a dollie in sight so go figure anything is possible. Cheers and good luck guys
  15. Wow everyone getting the dollie fever so early in the season. there must be some warm current in close?? if not I can't see anyone getting any action for a while yet. What temp are we experiencing out their at the moment?? Anyhow good luck I think you're gonna need it Cheers
  16. Definitely put some sort of backing plate or reinforce with marine ply as I have witnessed gunnel failure last time we were out at browns fishing for blue eye. It took three of us to get everything under control to lessen the damage especially when the bloke had a 23 kilo blue eye on the other end. The backing should not be any less than a foot long. Cheers
  17. Mate the way Wetpatch has done his, is the way to go, to close to the corner can weaken the area. When cutting out the hole use the jigsaw, and lubricate the blade with WD40, you should not have a problem I have cut holes in 10ml plate no problem with the jigsaw and mask the area out to protect the paint work. Just use a drill bit to drill a hole large enough to start and you'll be right. Also remember, if useing jigsaw make sure the saw has completely stopped before lifting it out while cutting and keep lubricating with the WD40 Cheers
  18. North side is where you want to go if your fishing the rocks first platform fishes very well but make sure you have cleats as it is very slippery and also on the high tide the swell has a habit of going over the rocks so you must keep a steady footing. I haven't been there for years but it would be still the same good catches of Tailor in summer full moon also. I would suggest you go down there and watch the smart fisherman fish it cause mate there are some dickheads there. cheers
  19. yep I agree I have always been a tad dissapointed with kings in winter they seem to be without energy and are not much fun. The cold has a great effect on them for sure Cheers
  20. I really enjoyed reading your report JG normally I tire of long reports and to be honest started reading the bottom half first but had to go and read the top half as well. Nice to see how this site brings poeple together and end up being good mates!! Cheers
  21. Congratulationa to all involved with this great site. I have had the pleasure of meeting Steward and Donna and they are great people to know. The theme of a family site is what works and they have succeeded in keeping it that way. Never made it to a social yet, my loss!! just wrong day for me but I'm still hoping to make one soon. All the best for the future, this place is just going to grow and grow Cheers Joe M
  22. Bloody hell mate that would be pretty expensive burley trail if you were to throw whole or half pillies!! I don't know what others do but one pillie should be cut up in about 20 ml pieces roughly 6 or 5 cuts per pillie Cheers
  23. I was out there at Browns as well and I saw you guys cubing but we never bothered cause we could see nothing happening. We caught 3 Blue eye and a couple of gemfish and headed home
  24. If you have caught kingfish in the past you may have come across some that are deseased and have a mushy flesh. I haven't come across this for a couple of years now but every now and again we use to get an odd one here and there. Dollies can suffer with the same deseas as well and through the years I might have come across half a dozen. Whether you bleed it or not it does not matter as long as you keep it on ice!! I have found that bleeding and keeping them on ice with their blood even retains their colour!! but as I said if they have that deseas nothing will help that. Cheers
  25. That is one hell of a big container to use for live bait I hope you have a boat to match cause it's gonna take alot of room. You definitely do not need anything that big in my opinion anyway Cheers
