  1. Geoff the last time I bought grease was from supacheap and I always pick one where I see molybdenum. Not going to get technical about it mate, I'm no mechanic, I'm a retired Fabricator but I found it to be a good product, actually great. I'm due to buy a new batch and I'll go and check it out and let you know Cheers
  2. HI guys Definitely the dura hub product is a great product but I would also like to say that I have been using the (Original) bearing buddies for 20 years on two separate boats and haven't changed a bearing yet!!! Every couple of trips I just give it a pump or two of grease and every year I give the wheels a spin to check for smoothness and all is well. As the others said grease selection is of importance as I bought grease in the past and saw the oils seperating from the grease and I quickly got rid of it. I have done great with a grease with a molybdinum content as it does not seperate and as I said never purchased another bearing. There are many cheap imitation bearing buddies out there and as the saying goes you get what you pay for!! use this url and have a read these are the genuine buddies http://www.bearingbuddy.com/best.html Cheers
  3. Hi Aqua to make a dough from bread what I actually do is use stale bread but the bread must go hard so normally when I get it from the baker I leave it out in the sun for about 3 to 4 days. When I do this normally do it in bulk so that I will have a box full that will last me the whole season and beyond, so I would have enough to fill a box equivalent to a 60 litre esky. Now when the bread has gone hard the advantages for this is that you can store it and have it ready for years without it getting mouldy!!. The bread to be used preferably would be hamburger rolls or hotdog rolls and must be white no multi grain or brown bread cause fish are atracted to white by nature!! I don't use slice cause it's too messy and harder to store. When I need to make a dough I get about 5 or 6 rolls and put them in a bucket of salt water and let them soak till they get soft and then I take of the crust which I use for burley and all the white bread left I squeeze in the palm of my hands as much as possible, once I have done this to all the rolls I get a good hand full of the bread and I also use a dry cloth and put that bread in it to give another squeeze to get as much moisture as possible then start to mash it in my palm with my thumb and beleave me you will see the best dough being transformed from the bread. The more you work it the more dense it will become so be carefull that you don't over do it and the dough you are not using I normally have another wet cloth squeezed and wrap it on the side so that it does not dry. If you want this to work you can't just buy stale bread from the baker and use it cause it will not bind and it will just turn into mush!! the trick is to fully remove the moisture out of the bread when you get it and the only way to achieve that is to put it in the sun out of any plastic bags of course and let to dry for the period I mentioned in the beginning. Give it a go and you won't go back to anything else I generally use this for mullet and for trevally they love it when fishing off the boat plus my own additive which takes at least a year to make but that's another story. Cheers
  4. Thx for the info Roberta I wil be there on Monday for two weeks but there will be no hurry to go offshore as my son and his family will be with us and most of the fishing will be done in the lakes but if the weather is good I wouldn't mind a dolly or two. I can assure you I will never become a statistic just for a fish, just crazy really. Hope the weather changes for the good for us though, as long as it's not pouring anyway. Hey if I see you on the water I'll come and say hello Cheers

    Steering

I don't think changing the steering cable is going to change the situation much, going hydraulic would though cheers
  7. Congrats Ray always enjoy reading your post and love the pics!! Well done cheers
  8. I am having the same problem of where to put the epirb, having a certre console myself, maybe I was thinking of putting it on the underside of the seat that way all you have to do is get up and lift the lid and up it comes otherwise, the only other alternative is to have a 2 ml plate 120mm wide with one end bent to anchore near the radio and attach the epirb bracket to that. Actually that is not a bad idea now that I have thought about it. Cheers
  9. That was a top read thoroughly enjoyed it, great fishing!! cheers
  10. Great catch mate but next time give the fish a bit of a clean up for the camera the poor thing looks like he's been bludgend to death cheers
  11. Hi bigdog I bought a 525 chartplotter only with g2 charts and I can't complain about it why what's wrong with your unit?? Cheers
  12. I had the same problem but I thought if I got a water proof container I can throw all my plastics in together and now I just open the one container and just choose from the variety thats on offer. It has elimated all the bags and easier to find and change the plastic!! Cheers
  13. Mate you can certainly try it cold but my advise to you if you heat up the alloy be very carefull that you do not over heat it cause it will collapse like crackers cause as you may not know alloy does not change colour when heated. Cheers
  14. Hi guys I also went out today off Port kembla, but while we did get amongst some dollies the water temp did not even get close to what you guys experienced the highest mine registered was 20.6 and the water looked the part as it did not look too blue at all. The dollies were all undersize all caught on plastics as we could not throw a pilchard, mutton birds in plague proportions. Cheers
  15. Hi Mate your navman might possibly need a software update I had some trouble with my car navigator and all it needed was a software update, I'm in the process of updating my chartplotter software as well. Hope this helps Cheers
  16. To all fishraiders Merry Christmas!!!
  17. Hi mate only last week I needed to remove part of the floor as the live bait tank pump siezed and I had the opposite problem, I could not get the screws out!! but a knock here and there and managed to remove them. When using alloy vibration is your worst enemy and perhaps that is why the screws are getting loose plus the fact also that alloy is a softer metal where the flooring sits on the ribbing you should have a rubber lining?? so that the plate does not move or vibrate. Numbnuts is more on the money, but in this case where they are really lose I would use a silican or rubber seal that when cured would have a rubbery texture and that would fix the problem for you and at least when you need to get the screws out you will be able too Cheers
  18. Mate the best bit of advise that I can give you is to get yourself a map of the area from your local Maritime and that should guide you to where you want to go. No point people telling you this or that cause in those waters there is a maze of navigational post that will confuse even the most experienced. I always get the map and study it before I go especially a new place. that way you can establish up stream and down stream so that you can follow the navigational marks properly. Cheers
  19. Tan the one on the left is killcare the small one on the right is putty their use to be camping grounds there maybe still is cheers
  20. Tan I had been fishing that beach for over 35 years with family and friends and I have seen many jewfish being caught there through the years by family and friends but not me unfortunately . The last time I did go there was with my sons about 5 years ago and it was a saturday night and I could not believe the amount of people that were there, all you could see was a line of starlights from one end of putty heading midway through to killcare. Now if you're catching tailor that is ok but you would not want to catch a jewfish with all those people there cause you will not be able to beach that fish without getting tangled and ultimately being cut off. So I wish you luck, the best spot we had was as you are walking towards the beach from the carpark go towards you're right a couple of hundred metres. Best time is on the run out tide last three hours is peak. Good luck and I hope there won't be too many people there for you Cheers
  21. I was kinda of thinking the same thing why red?? Mine are black and work a treat could have paid $5 which by the looks of things is a fraction of the cost of the red Cheers
  22. Ray although I have never really fished for them many times when we were on holidays at Wagstaffe I use to see these guys on the public wharf who fished during the night with worms and mate they had a bucket full of nice whiting. Good spot for squid as well Cheers
  23. Hi mate Caltex do make a specific product for what you need but I just can't think of the name but will get it for you tomorrow Cheers

    Flat Battery!

The only reason why I use a solar charger is only to stop the battery from sulphating due to not using it often enough. Your outboard should be keeping the battery in full charge. The only time I have drained my battery is when I put it away and forgot to switch the ignition off!!!, so now I also disconnect one terminal to be sure Cheers

    Ice Boxes

I have a 70 ltr as well which I bought cause I found the 100Ltr to big the only problem now is the 70Ltr is too big to use as an all rounder so I will be buying the 40Ltr. The ice boxes are good I only use ice in them and on the hottest days the ice will last for a couple of days with constant opening. What I have done is buy their smaller 18Ltr boxes for lunch and refreshments and I use the ice packs which are bloody brilliant and never leaked for me either but yes if you forget them in the box for a few days then they do feel a bit slimy and just rinse and they are fine again just get them out when your finished!!!! Cheers
