  1. I have been watching too much iso fishos and studying what people do
  2. Yea I was studying as sun was rising. It's one of few places I can jig comfortably with less snags
  3. texture after fried is like tuna-ish. you need to bleed them straight away after catching 47 cm is not much of a fight on PE3 but when it reaches past that little magical 55 CM mark then landing it can be sweaty. the 63 cm one had my gut muscle squeezed so hard that it aches and the adrenaline of trying to bring it under control. Off the rocks, i sometimes can't let them run because either 1 they reef you or 2 they rub you against rocks close( which this one tried to do). its a tight rope i have to walk on the rocks When managing the drag and when to make call to pull it in. 20lb will catch you the regular ones off the rocks but bigger ones can give you a run for the money and i still struggled with it. You have to change mentality when fishing off rocks. But yes they are fun to catch especially big specimens. I was chucking 60g jigs for big ones
  4. Yup, heads for soup and some fried fillet and steaks tonight 😋 Thanks
  5. So this morning, i left house at 4:30 got to rocks at 5:30. Spent half a hour looking at swell on ledge since no one is there but me on a rising tide. It was popular spot and but i needed time to assess risk. Waited till 6 before I chucked on a g-control chinese minnow knock off. First cast nothing, but on second cast I got smashed by huge 63 cm bonnie and fight was on. Very difficult to land but unlike last time I was fishing with PE 3 and not PE1.5 with 40lb leader. Manage to lift it up after several failed attempts. Lure flew off due to not able to see part of upper portion of braid/leader damaged in previous fight. People started to arrive at 7am Sun was up and I switched to slow cheap jig but hooked onto rock. More of the regular fishos were starting to arrive now and were chasing drummer and perlagics. One managed to catch huge calamari on 40g jig. It was at least 1 kg Switched to fast jig now. Lost 2 fish as I pulled hooks while I was chatting with a Pakistani guy with me. We both hooked up but fish ran into different directions and my line went over his as both our fish swam in awkward directions and he lost lure. I managed to wrestle mine up 48 cm specimen of bonnie. He managed to hook up on to two bonnies and I managed to bag a another 30cm. All in all not a bad day. Broke Pb of the 52cm with a 63cm and it gave a good accounting of itself despite heavy equipment Also I broke the curse of not catching stuff on minnows
  6. Yea I just don't have equipment to distance cast. Reason I am asking for alternatives but thanks
  7. I use Chinese knock off sugapen and still catch fish. Floating pencils are not a new invention and mechanics of it is well understood. Bent minnow requires relatively more research and knockoffs action are mediocre. Fish cannot tell brands and some things just work better on different days
  8. Is anyone well versed in how to wash fish off the rocks for snapper? I was watching alex bellissimo using just a size 2 sinker to hook rig and a guy use a use a slow sinking rig which uses a iso float with 2 sinkers so that it slow sinks in current. And how do you avoid snags considering most ledges baring places like south curl curl are rocky bottom? I know I can always try jig for the but snags make it hard
  9. my tackle store did a loading test on it. They say it's a very minor superficial crack on surface considering the cracks did not increase when pushed under heavy load. I have bought some epoxy to reinforce it. But thanks for advice all
  10. I believe scatch would be more accurate but I do see a line inside.
  11. Hi guys, I was practising casting in local park when front of rod got sent flying and rod ended up with what I believe superficial scratches. Is there a way to polish it up?
  12. I just came back from there on friday was line and bait packets around. Its filthy
  13. Kings definitely do, I have seen them up to Morrison Bay chasing jelly prawn
  14. The juveniles swim up. I have caught them all the way to upper cowan creek.
  15. They are good for congestion and fight hard. I caught a 35 cm specimen and it gave me a run for money on 20lb
  16. So alex bellissimo, I believe in one of the past videos was referring to Eastern sea gar being in season but I am not sure what he is referring to
  17. Would love to catch the leaping bonnie
  18. Thanks, I was thinking what is gar season when fishing recently when fishing off rocks but info like that is hard to come by
  19. Not getting reference. Are you referring to Clifton garden island spot?
  20. So I had day off today while parents are overseas. I had time to explore several places including Georges head, middle head and finally cobblers beach rocks Middlehead still need to climb down chains FYI But only had time to fish cobblers since I had to pay for parking and previous 2 spots I went down before 8. Jigged 2 hours and caught several bonnie but kept one which was too damaged despite being a catch and release session. Most of my shore jigging techniques comes from watching nabu and through trial and error https://youtube.com/@gogogofishingnabu?si=exlhggsIc9U45XMJ
  21. Narrabeen Lake has been fishing poorly due to.it being closed up again in Feb. A couple of 4m swell clogged up opening
  22. Another way I learnt is speaking with a tackle store who specialises in it. Now the owners I know won't tell me the ledges apart from well known ones but will give me advice on ledges I do find myself. I do know some 6m high ledges which makes them safe except for all but the biggest swells but you trade big waves to possible falls.
