  1. Thanks lads agains for all the positove comments.... Seazar - I've PM'd you the cost....I think surprisinly affordable, providing you can drag a few mates along to share the cost...as you'd expect the trip was all inclusive food, drinks, gear, fuel etc (not that we drank alot or had a lot of time to drink), Given you shell a fair bit oif hard earned and you are there to fish...plus your pretty buggered after starting at 7 and clocking off at 5pm daily...
  2. Great job Lucas!!! How good is it to put your young ones on some stonker fish.....hard to beat that feeling.
  3. Thanks guys....was a cracking trip....glad you like the pics....we always work hard to try and take good quality pics... Iliya it is a small world...James was the Wahoo king with the best one coming in at 15 kg and he dropped 2 that were even bigger...
  4. So a few weeks back Coyote, myself and 2 other mates headed off to Fiji for a weeks fishing. Being flathead, bream and bass fisho's we were well outside of our comfort zones but I must say it didn't take too long to switch into big fish mode. (I can see why blue water and GT fishing becomes very addictive) We departed on a Monday and spent the first night in Denaru before getting up the next morning and boarding a 6 seat plane and headed to Kadavu. I must say i didn't expect the mountains and dense forest that we flew over. On arrival just 200 meters from the airport the crew ferried us across to the 51 ft Riv that would be our home for the next 4 days. Given an early start breakfast was layed out for us as soon as we were on deck. Soon after engines were turning and we ventured out. Hot breakky every morning and i must say we ate like kings every day - morning, noon and night. I didn't take long before we hit a patch of Wahoo and Dolly's as we headed out to a sea mount. At the sea mount which is home to hoards of doggies we could only manage a few small pups on jigs. Having trolled up some yellow fin a 5kg livie was sent down and for a fleeting moment i was strapped to a monster dog but he threw the hooks and that was as close as we came to a mega dog i'm afriad. We spent the night in a small estuary where one of the village chiefs came out and was loaded up with the days catch which he took back to share amongst the families. This happened most nights...GT's went back to swim another day though. The next days we headed back out to the sea mount and again struggled on the doggies but again there were plenty of dollies, wahoo and yellow fin to keep us happy. How good is it when this jigged up yellow fin Is turned into this a hour or so later.... Not to mention deep fried Mahi and Wahoo Day 3 and it was GT time the photo's probably say enough Double hook up on GT's was very special too We managed to find dolly's on the troll too Day 4 and more GT's - they were a little harder to come by and the boys were pulling big read bass and a mega cod before hitting pay dirt with a 40kg model....party time... 40kg and the strike was incredible, it looked like the ocean open and up as the Cubera disappeared I managed my PB Hoo on the day too Day 5 and we had to travel back to Denaru a long trip but broken up by some trolling and more GT casting at islands along the way Coyote's PB GT that went 20kg on almost the very last cast of the trip Not far from Denaru Port Before breaky and at night we'd flick around a few plastics on our jew outfits for small gt's, red bass and coral trout Plenty of great scenery from great landscapes, islands and some incredible waves (wished i had my surf board on several occasions) So that's about it....very difficult to leave such a great place and so many awesome fish....plenty of pics that didn't make my post. We've said once in a lifetime but I suspect that it may all happen again one day....one of the boys is putting a video together as we had a go pro on board as did the the crew... Sorry its taken me so long to get something up and again thanks to swordy who helped us with the lure and gear selection....
  5. Some stonkers there mate....I'm sting for my trip next week...
  6. Nice work....we leave on Monday....can't wait....
  7. Michael, We usually go down first week of july and target the massive blue nose bream that come down the mid to front of the system. The bream are massive this time of the year, avg size 30 to 40+ cm. chase them on blades and bloodworm wrigglers. Look for water about 8ft deep. Both my PB bream in black and yellow have come from Coota at this time of the year. There are some great sambo's to be caught this time of the year too and some solid trevally. Flathead are typically quite small during winter and you will pick some up as by catch and potentially the odd whiting and blackfish funnily enough on the blades. There are sand bars but from memory there are lots of markers around to steer you in the right direction. Wish I was going down, very jealous....
  8. If open probably just a trickle I'd say. Look like the lake height kicked up a little with the rain. The lake hieght is indicating just over half a meter , they reopen at a meter. See link below. www.mhl.nsw.gov.au/htbin/map_data_display.com?SITE=CONJ
  9. Great day out fellas!!!! That sambo was a long way up the river.....
  10. I've pm'd you but I'm guessing its the same one as we are going to Kadavu too. Can't wait to get really stretched!!! Does a dodgy hit harder than a Glenbawn bass in November?
  11. Coyote and I are off to Fiji in a couple of weeks for a 4 day live aboard charter chasing gt's, wahoo, doggies etc. We asked heaps of questions and finally picked up our order yesterday. Swordy thanks heaps for your input too. Below is a mix of poppers, stick baits, jigs and terminal. Plus we will raid out existing tackle before heading off. Hopefully amongst all this gear we will find something that the fish will take a liking too. This trip is a massive step up from our previous Glenbawn, Mallacoota and Tuross sojourns. Just like big Kev said 'I'm Excited!'.
  12. Been fairly tough from what I hear on the flathead and bream front. Some tailor around though. Let us know how you go if you go down.
  13. Thanks boys. Would love to be getting out more but soccer commitments makes it a little hard during winter. Have been salivating over the massive bream reports coming out of Mallacoota in recent weeks but this year we are doing a Fiji trip so I can't see us getting down to smack a few.
  14. Been looking at all these clear days whilst at work and wishing I was fishing. Asked the boys if they wanted to shoot out for a session in the middle of the day on saturday after soccer and they jumped at the chance. Hopes weren't high being a midday sesh but figured with volume of lizards on the chew we'd be half a chance. First decent fish coming from Lizards Boys mate which was a 33 cm bream and a PB for him. Well done Azza. We managed quite a few lizards around the 40cm mark. Great to hear the young fella's giving each other stick about who's in the lead. Then just when things go quiet, some peels drag off their reel with their hand to make all our heads spin around....all the ingredients of good fishing mates for the future. Not to be out done and make sure they remember who's the boss on the last cast of the day I pulled nice girl-she only went 55 but gave the boys curry when on net duty for me. I must say, going fishing with kids is getting easier and easier. They now net, release, de-hook even thread their own plastics on (straight I might add). No question investing time in them from a very young age ensures you will have fishing buds for life.
  15. Actual I reckon you could remove the bag limit on them, in many areas they are regarded as carp plus they make an awful mess of your plastics.
  16. Happy with it all. 90% of my trips are all about the sport, occasionally take some flathead or whiting home for a feed. I'd like to see no flathead over 60cm kept though. Think of all the crocs that would be swimming around.....might give us all a chance of nailing a 1 metery at some stage in the future...same with jews, nothing kept over 130cm maybe.

    New boat advice

Totally agree with taking the misses, she gave me a much bigger budget than I was expecting.
  18. Nice work, how was the beach launch, it's pretty good one from memory?
  19. What a great series of trips mate. Sounds like some memorable captures and near dusting in the sticks....bass always keep you on your toes, lose concentration and you are gone.
  20. Nice work Pmak.....I haven't even been out on the bay in 2013 yet....clearly I've been miss out....
  21. Nice work on the lizards. You clearly have the George's wired....
  22. About the only things that makes up for the hiatus is the sambo and jumbo tailor schools that turn up, but you can tend to loose a popper or two to these tooth critters. If you spec up your leader and use a larger popper they can't get too far in their gob its normally ok.
