Ha, same here sleepydragon. $10 later......
  2. Nice work, looks like you had a ball. Blue fin trevs and the gt would have gone hard. Get'em on poppers?
  3. How good is the Gorge! We had a Trip planned a few years back but the place got smashed with rain for 3 days straight so we went to coota instead. Then I sold my tinny and got my new boat which is probably a little too big for the gorge. My couz fished it and pulled some sumo's too a few years back. Awesome part of the world...great vid too mate...
  4. It's funny how we always want to fish in other peoples waters. I read about your ventures catching jacks and bass and would kill for that type of action. I'm sure some people read my posts thinking I'm so sick of targeting bass and would kill to be within 10 minutes of a ramp that let's me target flatty's and bream/whiting on poppers, Jews kings etc...while I think man I need to travel over an hour to whack some decent bass. Probably just a case of the grass is always greener on the other side me thinks.
  5. Nice bass Dean, sounds like you had a ball!
  6. Pulled a 37cm version in Sydney yesterday on the same lure. The fish must have had 5 goes at it before I finally loaded up....was like fighting a little boney....
  7. Nice too see some solid lizards getting about in the hacking.
  8. Thanks guys. He was a pretty happy little camper. It actually hit him 3 feet from the water edge so we saw the bite and everything which meant the fight wasn't too long and drawn out. He handles himself pretty well though so I would have loved to see him slug it out. Couple of quick picks and we sent him on his way to grow some more. Aussieflash Never heard of sashimi trevally before? Roberta just picked up 3 more Zerek live shrimp at 7 bucks each. Win for the good guys!!!! I can see myself using them hard up at Nambucca around the busted and floating racks me thinks.
  9. Sheesh, that's a horse. I love it when a plan cones together. Great work on the department store outfit too.
  10. Nice spread of species mate....mega toad on hard body, not something I've seen before....
  11. Teaming with rain this morning and with the temperature dropping about 15 degrees from yesterday the poppers were put away. Bloodworm Wriggler brought this guy unstuck and resulted in a clear PB for Jnr Jnr Poddy. Hit him like a freight train and went 50cm plus - so chunky. His mate smashed me up completely and now wears a Zerek Shrimp as fresh new lip pearcing. Memorable weekend. Who needs a flash expensive boat, last 2 trips I've left it at home and had some of the best fishing ever. Loving the south coast prior to the Christmas invasion (of which I am one).
  12. Yep good color iceman. Brown snake and ghost minnow are also my favs. Along with black for dawn and dusk sessions on bass.
  13. Hit all my whiting on the very bottom left one in hodgy's pic. But also have top left too. Plus a few other colors mostly naturals looking ones.
  14. Scratchie - NW pencils are my hands down fav poppers. Pulled my PB bass on one earlier this year. Smacked some blue nose bream, horse whiting even saw my cousin pull a 70 plus flathead on one. Not cheap at $22 bucks but I would never start a popper session without one. Bassday SugaPens would go my second fav, followed by Sammy65's and Jazz Zappers.
  15. Stapo - Lucky Craft make a small popper called an NW Pencil. It's a stick bait which means it doesn't have a cup face and when retrieve it walks across the surface and resembles a fleeing prawn or something similar. Makes whiting fishing a whole lot of fun as you can see the fish shouldering each other out the way to attack your lure. You also end up with very few throw backs as most fish you catch will be around legal size or better. Get Santa to get you some poppers for Christmas and go hard I reckon. In you YouTube whiting on popper you can watch a few clips to I'd say.
  16. Good tip. Shame I already gave the frames to the pelicans. Will be back at Chrissy so definitely on the menu.
  17. Down the coast with the family. Thought I'd chuck in a popper rod and few little poppers. Took a while to find them but once located they went nuts for the NW pencil. At one stage we must have hit 6 fish in 6 casts. They were in the micro shallows less than a foot of water. Best went 33cm which lizard boy nailed. Gee they go hard in the shallows. Must have released just as many again and lost a few. Pulled the hooks on a couple and hooked up again on the same retrieve. Dam I love summer and poppers.... Won't these be tasty on the BBQ tonight.
  18. Nice work mate. Just dodging the boat traffic was an effort in itself.
  19. As the Sargent Baker record holder you make a great Bass fisho....lol. Any luck on the surface lures, maybe trying something different might bring the big boys out to play? Or even some spinners baits deep in the timber?
  20. What a session.....you are a freak!
  21. Awesome stuff. Sugapens are in my top 3 surface lures.
  22. Great effort pmak and congrats on the pb for your young bloke, a 55 would have pulled pretty hard on 8lb.
  23. That's awesome. I saw about 3 or 4 bulls sharks when chasing bass right up the back of the macleay river. At the time we thought they'd be a stack of fun if they hit our top water offering or grabbed one of our bass.
