I'd strongly advise not doing this...
(Move forward to 1:05)

He snapped that net man.

If you see a big guy wading the flats or working the spit in tan, blue sleeves and a blue backpack, it'll probably be me.
-
Cheers for the link, I don't know why it didn't occur to me to do a search.
The spit looks good and the flats to the west look great, also the water leading into the basin might be promising.

I haven't seen bream like that for 20 years.

I'm finally getting back to the water when my license arrives this week!
The wait for that little piece of plastic has been a killer and I've been pouring over my gear making sure it's ready.
My dad doesn't always have time to get our boat out and that means I'll be doing a lot of land based fishing in the next few months, mostly Sydney Harbour with plans to explore Port Hacking for the first time ever.
I've started reading about Port Hacking and if anyone has any tips on good land based spots I'd appreciate it, specifically sand flats that expose at low tide with deep gutters/drop off's.

The more I read the information on that website the more I think it's snake oil.
-
I'm highly skeptical, the last website claiming to sell a fishing secret weapon was a scam.

110mm Squidgy Pro Flick Bait's work wonders with lizards.
I use the Pacific Pearl and Pilly colours with 3.5g #2/0 Finesse Head or 9g #2/0 Fish Head jigheads.

I have no problem with protecting areas from commercial fishing, just leave the recreational fishos alone.
"The nearest part of the Coral Sea that I can fish in is about 350-400 miles from here and that doesn't mean to say that the fish are going to be there. So you could steam for 400 miles, at a hell of a cost, and still find no fish."
Acting as if they didn't have to go through that before the advent of marine parks, biggest puff of smoke in that entire report.
-
Clifton Gardens is good place too.
-
From the Spit Bridge all the way up to Balmoral. I know that seems vague, but the entire area produces squid.
Personally I like this area because there are plenty of weed patches and it's usually not that rough.
You can try in front of the national park, but only go there when it's calm and don't let your jigs sink for long because the kelp there is insanely good at stealing jigs.
-
They can both be productive, you just have to pick one and see how you go.
-
Awesome lizard! I hope to catch one like that some day.
-
However relapse i have taken your solid advice before - if you have played with a BB and still didnt like hem - i will take a look at other Egi rods
Sorry I totally didn't even realise you said the BB model, my mind went straight to the AU model.
I would hope it would be significantly better.

I've always used shimano gear and was initially taken back by the sephia, but when I got the time to have a proper look at it I wasn't impressed.
I don't think it's worth the price tag, you'd be better off looking at others brands to be honest.
-
Its all a bunch of crap!! You can catch squid on any spin stick. The EGI phenomenon is a money spinning jaunt pioneered by the Japs.
Then it's all crap and we should all go back to using cork hand lines.
I used a light spin rod for catching squid for over ten years and after recently buying a egi rod I can say that I'll never go back.
There is logic in the science behind egi rods that is plain as day to see.
-
This is why I've started to buy rods with not only a better reputation for quality, but a better warranty.
-
I've heard that also, but I'm sure it has nothing to do with the sol having a higher price tag than the gosa.
-
I'm using Momoi Hi-Catch Zex at the moment.
-
Wait and see how it turns out before condemning it.
-
Let us know how they went.
When I was making my own I used the cork from a champagne bottle.
I put a hole through the cork, put a piece of dowl through, put it into a drill, turned the drill on and shapped it with some sandpaper.
I got to the stage where I needed to paint them and make eyelets for the line, I just never found suitable stainless wire to make them from and I gave up.
-
Yeah I don't like the idea of the circle hooks as I'm an active fisherman, I don't like setting rods and waiting for the fish to do all the work.
I ordered some ssw all purpose from size 6-5/0 and ebi baitholder from size 6-2/0, they arrived this morning.
-
You can always cut the line and let it go, that way the fish has a chance to live and you protect yourself from any fines should your catch be inspected.
Back to fishing!
