I don't think X-Ship will be worth the extra cost over the current FI model, it's really not going to make the reel infinitely better.
I do like the new handle design, the bail arm mechanism being moved to the inside of the rotor arm and the return to the original pearl colour.
The one good thing the release of the FJ model will do is make the price of the FI model plummet and this will mean a lot more people will be able to afford a higher quality reel.
I'll be keeping a sharp eye on the tackle stores between now and the release of the FJ model so I can snap up as many of the FI models as possible, I already picked up a 2500FI for $150.

They changed the slimey colour, which I don't like.
The original slimey flick baits were translucent green/translucent yellow and now they're translucent green/silver, the black stripes have changed too.

I really want to go to this, but I don't know that water at all.

I've been reading a lot of conflicting opinions about this stuff.
If I'm lucky I'll win one of the nanofil prize packs from the purefishing subscription competition.

Mate that is a cracker of a fish, I'm jealous.

I've been a longtime user of Mustad hooks and between when I was more actively fishing 2 years ago and now it seems that most tackle stores don't stock Mustad anymore, so I'm looking to pick a new brand.
Everywhere I look people are raving about Owner hooks, specifically the circle hooks, and I was wondering what the fishraider consensus was.
I'd also be interested in any opinions on other brands.

What rod and reel combo would you be using if you had around $500 to spend?
Nitro Viper and a Shimano Stradic 3000FI.
What soft plastics rig would you use?Personally I'm a Squidgies fan, so I'd be using Slick Rigs from 130mm and up.

All the best and a speedy recovery mate.

Ooh, wonder where I can snag one of those.

I've been camping in Swansea since I was a teenager and I stopped swimming in the lake after seeing a shark fin off the main sand flat where you pump nippers, that and a 2m+ across sting ray coming in to the boat ramp at night.
I watch parents let their kids swim out the back of the caravan park on the channel in the sandy shallows, they don't think what could be lurking in the 3+ drop offs.

I use anywhere from a rod length or double, casts just fine.

Passengers should cover 50% of anything shared, unless you're inviting them.
If that first invite turns into a regular fishing partner I'm sure any decent person would try to pay their way.

I'm getting the next model down from the one in the image a few posts up, it holds 11 jigs between size #2 and #3.
With shipping from Japan it comes to about $24.

how often are you oiling it?
I haven't used mine yet, so it depends on how much use they see.
G'day relapse,
It sounds like the washer you found is one of the spacers that adjust the shape of your line load. They sit on the spool shaft under the spool.
Here's a side by side comparison of the line load spacers and the washer/spacer I found and as you can see it's too small to be the former.
I think it might be the spacer (RD 2409) which goes on the bottom of the worm shaft or the washer (RD10683) that goes on the bail assembly, it probably fell into the rotor during assembly.

After ordering the jigs on Wednesday they arrived this morning, they were packed extremely well and the site I bought it from even gave me a free sticker promoting their name.
I'll put up some photos as soon as I find the camera.

we may have an evening of speakers
That would be excellent, the last one I went too was great.

Cheers.

A Swansea social would be good too.
I'll try and make it to the next social, I've been meaning to attend one for some time.

At first glance I thought maybe the packet has been mislabeled as 110 when they were 100, a quick ruler check and they were 110 and significantly smaller than the 110 ones I bought at a shimano pro range launch night.

I'm about to order six Harimitsu jigs and I'm going to start with Weed/Clear Blood, Pink/Rainbow, Orange/Rainbow, Red/Red, Purple/Purple & Melon in size #3.
Has anyone used this product from Evergreen? I'm torn between getting a hard or soft case to store the jigs in.

We bought a brand new 4 stroke merc a few years back, runs like a charm.
