    Car Mechanic

Would any of you guys and gals be able to recomend a good garage/mechanic in the botany/mascot area. Had a little disagreement with a speed bump and the front bumper of the car is going to need looking at PM me if you know somewhere Thanks alasdair
  4. Nice pic. I like fishing the little channel that runs inside the sand bar just off to the right of your photo. If the tide isn't to strong and you can walk out to the edge of the bar, flicking plastics of the left hand edge into the current also works well. ps loved the photos of the avoca swell alasdair
  5. I agree with lighthouse2k. You can pick up a Vac Pak pretty cheap now, not only do they work well in the freezer you will be able to stretch the life in the fridge as well. Dry fillet the fish so that no moisture can be absorbed into the flesh, will turn it mushy and will leak out when you come to cook it at a later date. I would say that 3 or 4 months would be the limit for keeping it in the freezer. Any longer and you will notice the difference,..... plus you wouldn't want to go that long without fishing would you??? cheers alasdair
  6. Great report and some even better fish. Well done alasdair
  7. Nice, very, very nice well done
  8. Just like to say a quick thanks to Tony for a good day on the water. It was a cold and breezy start to the day so we stayed "close in" at 12 mile waiting to see what the weather did. The wind and the current wen't playing nice so the drift was pretty quick and was a bit of a struggle to hold bottom in 100m+. We all got some fish, lots of small butterfly perch, some good mowes, pinkies and a pig fish which the boys have told me is good eating, so after I finish this its going in the pan for my dinner. Come the afternoon the wind had dropped off and the chop had all but gone. Tony heard a report on the radio that one of the boats out wide had dropped a fin and had seen others on the surface, so the decision was made to go for a troll. Went out to browns and back to 12 mile for nothing but cold, green water. Was nice to meet some of the guys in person and hopefully the next time we'll get into those fin Cheers alasdair
  9. Great fish....I'd be happy with one half that size.
  10. Nice fishing. Perfect spot Good to see some fishing with the not so perfect weather we're having at the moment.
  11. Ha Ha So Mariner, which team do you support? Rangers, Celtic, or Partick Thistle??

  13. Rugby's the only real sport I thought rugby was invented by some guy that cheated playing football.
  14. Hate that the Italians are there instead of Scotland but still think they will win. At least the auld enemy got knocked out as well!!
  15. Plenty of small/under flatties on the sand flats on Ettalong beach. Always good around dusk, if the current is too strong to fish in the channel try dropping in short on the inside of the flats on the Umina side. Anything bigger am not sure, but have seen people chucking whole pillies into the deep channel, they must be catching something? Good luck alasdair
  16. If you catch it yourself it will always taste better!!! Fresh makes a BIG diference. Don't have an all time favourite. White fish, Whiting,Dory(any), Blue eye, goldband snapper Oily, BFT, YFT, And I actually really like slimey mackeral As for the rest.... Never tried them REALLY fresh!! alasdair

  19. Be careful with the diamond fingers etc. They will remove some of the blade. Only use them if the edge is gone! you will end up with no knife if you use it all the time. If you look after your knives and give them a couple of strokes on a good steel before and after each use you'll be fine. It don't matter how much you pay for your blade if you don't look after it, it won't last. I can't recommend a single brand of knive but if you really want to be the envy of ALL your mates have a look at www.chefsarmoury.com, check out the sashimi knives! alasdair
  20. Hi guys. Thanks for the feedback. I think me and you think along the same lines Macka, I used to love my penn senator 4/0 for bottom bashing back in Scotland, tough as and will last forever! I do enjoy fishing light now, but!! its no good when you get smashed. I had actually been looking at the stradic as a possibility....it is indeed a compromise.. if only I had another $400 to spend cheers alasdair
  21. Cheers Macka Will look into them. After something that I will be able to use where ever, and that will last. What braid do you use with them? I got some cheapo stuff on my light SP outfit but get heaps of knots. Have only used braid before on my overhead/heavier stuff that I haven't had to cast with. alasdair
