  1. G/Day Dicko, That's just what I said when I read thread. I do It all the time in my favourite spot, besides I use anchor puller and just wind it into well when she hits the top. Cheers Rick.
  2. Hi Superfish, with double copper you can use on anything, plus they hold a lot better, especially when your learning, a little bit dearer but worth it. I hardly ever use alum, unless Iam just crimping a sleeve. But that is only my few. Cheers Rick.
  3. G/Day Superfish, Mate you are missing out on a great arvo with about three mates and a couple slabs of VB. Knocking up a couple hundred sinkers. Still that is a good buy. Regards Rick.
  4. OUCH ,seems to be the popular word. Bad luck pal, won't be long before your out again. Then again, you could have fell on the Rsend. cheers Rick.
  5. Hi Slink, I have a plough anchor, nearly the same retrieval as mentioned above, mine I just use three turns around chainwith a plastic tie,If the anchor fouls the tie breaks with strain and you don't lose anchors. I have been using this method for 4 years. In your previous thread, you mentioned a place you have tried, thats where it came from,if you are interested just PM me. Regards Rick.
  6. I think the best thread and helpful to most fisho's was put up by BOOFHEAD. RE, Bearings and brake pads, there was nothing left out,he covered all aspects with a good bit of comedy throw in. Regards Rick.
  7. That is great news. Really feel for you guys in the big smoke , looseing boat and trailer. I suppose we can say we are better off on the mid north coast as up here we are all loosing our trailer plates and rego holders. I have lost two plates in last 10 mths. Regards Rick.

G/Day Jeff, That's why we live on the mid north coast, some how winter seems to bypass us. Regards Rick.
  10. Welcome to god's country. Should have left it for a couple of weeks. After 13 inches of rain the rivers will brown for a fair while.Outside around black rock will be booming with the runout. Jewies ever where. Cheers Rick.

    Hello

G/day Byron, welcome to the raiders site. Saw your thread from Ballina. Made me look up your profile, as today is one of the raiders, birthday who comes from Ballina.Jim Bowers. The funny thing is ,his best mate is Byron,a raider from Campbelltown. Iam about 300 clicks south. Cheers Rick.
  15. Happy birthday Jim,I know Byron will be wishing you the same. That is if he has cooled down after being sent home no OP. Hey Grant are you up near Jim,we are about 300 clicks south, friday night 51/2 inches,3 saturday and 5 again last night and it is still raining. cheers Rick.
  16. Everybody on north coast uses WILLYWEAThER, and its based at darlinghurst.
  17. Steve they tried to enforce it back in early 80, But it was only short lived. Most boats then had twin motors.
  18. If you are out and a big southerly is coming up. You will know long before it hits. You will swear you are near a railway track, it will sound like a big loco is flying along the tracks. Then you feel like doing a Jc straight for the ramp.

Hi Geoff, Wasn't his chest up to the operation, I bet he is spewing. Regards Rick.
  20. Sorry Andrew, It must have been Geoff. Anyway we will catch up. Regards Rick.
  21. G/day Young fella, All the above advice is very good. If you have not got a manual for your sounder, you can download them free on line.PDF format. Your boat is good enough in good weather, but experience is essential otherwise panic sets in if you get into trouble. Even on a good day just outside you will roll and pitch like mad, while you are near a headland it is rough, move out 1/2 a click and it smooths down. The best way to learn is in another boat and watch the skipper, fishing is on its own,but that sea can be a killer at any moment. take all the precautions don't venture out in bad weather, learn your sounder and you will have a ball. There is no thrill better than pulling in a PB. Good luck and enjoy your fishing, you can learn a lot listening to the guys on Here. Cheers Rick.

Hi Locodave, Why not buy a 27mhz hand held it would be great for what you want.Plus you don't need license. Like all hand held they are only line of sight, unless you have an A1 antenna. cheers Rick
