  1. HEY RAY, How come you forgot one raiders Birthday. UNREALISTIC.
  2. Hi Adam, I used 2oz snapper lead off beach after tailor only because I could cast a lot further with the overhead reel. That was only used in normal conditions, there is not much that will hold in heavy swell. cheers Rick.
  3. Thats really bad luck Pal,we have the same problem up here on the mid north coast, but they only target rego labels in plastic clips and plates. I lost my plates last week.I even had six heavy duty rivets in the plate. We all back trailer up to wall . The taste you have in your mouth, won't let you enjoy your catch.Get a tow ball hitch,we all use them up here. all the best Buddy. Regards Rick.

    Killing Rust

Sorry Dicko, what I have left,I will be using as resin to fibreglass my fish boxes.
  6. Good on yah Pete, Get him anything he likes. Down the track you will be glad you did. My old man was the best fishing buddy I had. Except when we fish out of Crowdy head he would tell Mum I was a so and so idiot,He would say Mother that mad bastard goes faster at night than he does during the day. cheers Rick.

    Killing Rust

Hi Dicko, If you are looking for cheap stuff, like kill rust, make sure it is sanded well, then use converter, then about 3 coats of light killrust, otherwise it will be back in twelve months. POR 15 is about70 bucks a lire ,don't even have to sand right back, just knock off flakes and paint on two coats and no more worries.
  8. HI Langa, I can't answer your question about lures,as I am from the old school and don't touch them. I have caught heaps at night with floaters about 2 ft deep, using back to back fillets. Take notice what Scoop said, after a big wet fish the runout at river mouth,my favourite spot was Manning at harrington especially if the moon was around 4 days before full or four after new. you never miss in the brown water. cheers Rick.
  9. Dhutchy, As Geoff and Rob saidIt is probably one of the posts loose,or the terminal block. I had the same prob a couple of months ago,run new wires to 3 way switch and forgot to tighten a wing nut. Simple AS. cheers Rick.

    Killing Rust

Your dead right about getting it on hands,it won't come off until the old skin peels away, you can't use it from tin,U have to tip amount needed in to container clean paint out of grooves cover with glad wrap and seal, then place in fridge or you lose a lot of shelf life. But it is worth all the hassles.

    Por 15

This is something I just had to share with fellow raiders. First up I want to thank BAZ alias BERLEYGUTS. for putting me on to this product. Two weeks ago, I was going to scrap my old trailer, when Baz told me about POR 15. Instead of building a new one ,I decided to give this stuff a go. I grabbed my big circular wire brush whacked it in the drill and let it fly. I had holes I could put my little finger in,I removed all surface rust, hit it with marine clean, filled holes with fibreglass, using POR 15 as gel for glass. Gave the trailer two light coats of POR 15,next day gave top coat of hammertone,as por 15 will change colour if left in sun. today I carted four loads of blue metal and two loads of sand, washed it out and not a mark on it. It's stronger than it was 8 year ago when I built it. I certainly know what I will be using on boat trailer when gal stops working. Cheers Rick.

  13. I have always used Sakuma {shock} leaders. No worries tying knots and no kinking. Cheers Rick.

    Need Help

Hi Sean, Iam from the mid north coast,a lot of local raiders will help you out as they know what the conditions are and all the structures. Next time mix your cat food with chicken pellets and a little fish oil, mate the bream love cheese and a little bit of plastic spaghetti just above hook. Good luck and look after them old blokes, another ten years I will probably be one of them. Cheers Rick.
  15. Jesus Mick, That is a monster,Hope your Dad put the breeder back. your right about the river mouth. And to think all of that and the bar could have been dredged out for nothing, all the bloke wanted was the rutile.COUNCIL knocked him back. cheers Rick.
  16. That must be a new law, when did that come in. Mate I would get a license, with a fibreglass boat and depending what pitch you have on prop, you could be doing more than 10 knot by the time she planes. It's no hassle getting license Brett. Cheers Rick.
  17. Hi Paulmcc, Just as Mick said I fish out of Scotts . Mate if your bringing a yak, lets keep our fingers crossed for weather, All the westerlys should be gone then,at the moment it would be rough out there even in a sub.Have you a sounder in yak,how far do you fish offshore,I have plenty of gps marks. If I was you I would put hobie in off grassy head beach, north end,I will give you a mark for a wreck, jew ,kingie and snapper, also that head land has a lot of close reef. When your coming up just PM,I will give you a few close Marks. Cheers Rick.
  18. Hey Alan, You certainly gave me a good laugh. What give you the idea a heated dishwasher would clean saltwater corrosion,Them Penn reels haven't got a fishes arse, they won't keep out suds. Mate you better strip them right down, clean and grease or you will be buying new ones. And that will surely take the smile of the little ladies face. Best of luck with the clean up. I know a bloke who tried to dry his in a microwave. And Mate he is still Single. Cheers Rick.
  19. Hello Raiders, I heard something today said by a 75 year old farmer. He said julie Gillard was a post tortise.when asked what a post tortise was. He said, you know she didn't get up there by her self, she doesn't belong up there, she doesn't know what to do while she's up there, she sure as hell isn't goin' anywhere, and you just wonder what kind of dumb bastard put her up there in the first place. I think he put it very well. Cheers Rick.

    Painting Outboard

Most big paint places can match up paint spot on all you have to do is take a piece of paint about the size of 20 cents. I use to take mine to bristol paints, they put it in a machine and the results match up perfectly.

    Weather

Hi Geoff, I get the windy willy everyday,we have had 30knt every day for weeks, either monday or tuesday will drop off with a temp of 23cel. So the august gusts should be just about over. Cheers Rick.
  22. Hi Marfoir and Roberta. HAHA. Pam used the exact words the first time I used the expression. If I did try that I would be shell shocked. Regards Rick. PS, I will have to start using those emo-cons for better expressions.
  23. Hi Stewy, I saw the header on your thread and I thought shit what have I done wrong on the site. I felt a bit more at ease when I opened it up. Well done on the fish. Anyway He would have to catch plenty of fish with a name like that. Cheers Rick.
  24. Hi Roberta, So glad Keith is picking up and has an interest in a few things very promising. Like you and Geoff said early detection helps, but that does not always happen. When Mum had the stroke we went into hospital to see her,on the way out a sister said to Dad while your here I will take a sample of the little lump on your neck.Long story short. He was told He had wild cancer liver, lung, throat and brain, gave him a fortnight to live,he never let on. regards Rick.
  25. Hi Again-Out n About, Sorry mate I forgot to tell U,before I put it in boat, I use to charge my 45AH battery I used for my remote control golf buggy, our course is pretty hilly and it only took 11/4 hours to charge fully. cheers Rick.
