  1. ok thanks. well dont have any 30lb backing on me.. so tackle shop again tomorrow (hope I make it out with my wallet ) plus I need some leader line anyway... then the big test Sunday... dunno where yet, my brother says its a surprise location for my new rig... as long as fish on and beers on way back in.. I happy
  2. yeh gunna half spool backing... so might put 20lb on it... dont wanna fill it with backing too much, want alot more braid than backing, but using 15lb... gunna use ALOT of light line to half fill BTW spooling on a penn 320LD... so not heaps of room
  3. ok thanks.. another q, is 15lb enough for backing?
  4. Just wanna be sure here... never used braided before... I am spooling my backing line (15lb) then tying 300metres of my braided (30lb test, 8lb diam)... should I use a stren knot or an allbright for strenght?
  5. Well thanks for all the help But as I needed a new rig for this weekend, I went to "different" tackle shop and picked up a Penn 320 LD reel, on a Penn Powerstick PPS 6001 OHBH rod, plus 300 mts of braided... feels good to handle, and am happy with price. This weekend will tell if investment was good Allen, will still talk yakka with you about other deal, as I still need a few more for different rigs. Cheers guys.
  6. Yeh Kincumber is full of dero's not where I live though... I live more south kincumber. But I know most of the blokes in the fishen club at kincumber pub.. yeh few dero's, but most good blokes, who like a beer and a fish.. nothing too professional which suits me..
  7. Will do Ken. Yeh Kincumber is Kincumber... full of berks still LOL.. nuh its ok, the fishen club at the pub seems to be attracting more members lately which is good hopefully I will win the weigh in soon.. and get a new reel or something.
  8. Went and did some pricing today. I can get a Maple Hybrid 15KG Special Rod for $379.95, and they will throw in for free a TLD25. Rod seems over priced, but I am not that experienced with the trolling rods. Thinking about going with a Daiwa LD50H, as its a much lighter reel for bottom fishing. Holding a TLD25 all day would get hard. Maybe down the track will get a good trolling rod, but I dont have the cash for both at the moment. If you guys find or no about a good all rounder with not too much weight in it, give us a yell.. Cheers
  9. Not mine, my brothers... I am on it regulary. Very good outside boat.
  10. Nuh not at Avoca... sanga's ghost would rip em to bits.. Sounds like a great thing you got going.. my family has been in the Avoca Surf Club for nearly 50 years, so we understand the importance of surf safety etc... SO congrats on the effort, next time your in the central coast area fishen pm me and I'll shout you a beer or 2.
  11. Cheers guys, Will have a look at the daiwa's this week and see which one I feel comfortable with. Sounds like I will steer clear of the tld15... the 20 looks good, the 20 2 speed even better but price is a killer for me on 2 speed jobs. Thanks for replies.
  12. Cheers mate, was hopeing for a good reel... sounds like I got one then Lets hope I can get some good years out of it then... Thanks
  13. Hey guys, Looking at buying a TLD 15 or 20 for my outside rig. Would like to know if these are good overheads compared to say penn 330's etc. And if I could still use it for trolling. (main use would be bottom rig, and inside jew catcher) Plus any info on a matching boat rod would be appreciated. Happy to pay good money, might even trek down to ABA if the price is right
  14. I did a search on the net, and can't seem to find Shimano NAVI 4000 reels in aus etc. Found a few Japanese sites, so I am assuming its a jap reel. Has anyone else seen or used one of these reels? I am hopeing I didn't get ripped off in price.. $300.00 at local tackle shop. EDIT* Here a pic of it... bottom one is a 3000 from a thai fishing site
  15. Hi, last friday I bought a Maple TB4000 Spin Reel ($89), used it for 3 days, and then it died. Now i dont know if anyway has had any experience with these reels, but my opinion is I took it back to shop and looked at all the other Maple 4000's they had, none were any better made. So I bit the bullet and bought a Shimano NAVI 4000... cost me $300 so it better be good!! So now I got the Shimano NAVI 4000 on a Silstar Diamond Power Tip PK-601 SPM. Anyone got opinions on the NAVI 4000 series?
