  1. A bit off topic but i saw them doing it with frozen king prawns behind the scenes at the sydney fish markets last christmas, possibly normal practice [wouldn't know] though i'm sure most of the people who took the time & trouble to get them thought they were buying fresh.
  2. well done roberta I'll have to rush out and get me a copy!!
  3. Hi dave, scrap 1st post,i thought it was a choice from those 3 [been playing too many trivia games] I'd definitely include the word "seals" in your listing as i think most potential commercial clients will be specific with their search, also [as everyone else has suggested] refrigerator [or refrigeration] not "fridge". edit: If he's more interested in the domestic side then something like "refrigerator seal repairs" should net a lot of domestic searches...and as Ross and Jeff have suggested, best to localise it. he he...just kidding, though i did once see an old guy using one a few seats across from me [wasn't watching, just noticed] which gave me the idea to get one for my boat [$10 at the chemist and a lot better than a regular plastic bottle]...a bloody godsend in rough conditions!

hi dave,i've been hearing about this movie for over a year now...been a long time coming. will check it out sometime next week, definitely something to be seen on the big screen! majority of the reviews have been pretty good,Hugh Jackman is my favourite aussie actor and i hear he's performance was excellent. hmm...I hear the movie runs around 3 hours...better take my "relief bottle".
  6. first one!...not as natural as the second but easier on the eyes.
  7. good effort anyway pete...good to see a fellow doonie getting into some jew, even if they were soapies.
  8. nice flattie mate,i'm a recent convert to sps' myself...won't do a flattie drift without one. They definately out fish dead baits when drifting, though i'm not sure if it's the sp itself or if it's because i'm actively working the sp while i tend to leave the rod with the dead bait alone. Pumpkinseed seems to be the go for me at the moment.

    Google Earth

I saw the "google car" drive by my house around 2 months ago...wish i had known it was coming,i would have mooned it as it passed! Yeh,i think it is a bit of an invasion of privacy...no doubt some people will take advantage of it,real estate agents , insurance companies ect [possibly thieves].I heard local councils use it to check for illegal extensions, non approved pools/carports and such but since they haven't payed me a visit i'm guessing it's not true. I'm not upset that the guys at google decided to take photo's of my house/yard and put them on the net,it's just i feel a little annoyed i wasn't asked first...you know, like i had no say in it........ But that's the age we live in i guess. edit:byw..does anyone know where i can get some camouflage netting?
  10. I remember [vaguely] when rivercats were first introduced.there was some public criticism about their speed, but goverment's response was [something like]: 1.To limit rivercats speed in no wash zones would make service impractical. [rivercat was meant to be a fast alternative way to get to the city] 2.Because of their design, rivercats leave little wash at high speed. [though many people, including "brickman" would disagree!]
  11. Is that right? police checking for undersize fish?...not that i have a problem with that, it's just that i thought checking catch size/bag limits was left to the guys at fisheries [dept of primary industries].

    Funny Dog Pictures

here's a few from an e-mail i recieved titled 'why dogs bite people"
  13. why does "slim chance" and "fat chance" mean the same thing??
  14. 39..that's spot on,even though twice i [unintentionally] ignored the zero and started with the next lowest number. Anyone else make the same mistake? This test reminds me of a doco i once saw that showed how chimpanzees have no trouble whatsoever playing this type of memory game. The game was the same in principle except that instead of numbers the screen had around 10 symbles that would light up momentarily in random sequence starting with 2-3 symbles and finishing with the 10. The object was to touch the symbles in the same order in which they lit up. The people who played started to fail at around 5-6 symbles, but the chimp [taught to use a touchscreen] just breezed through it with [what seemed] little effort every time. Not bad for an animal that likes to eat its own feces!! Turns out that chimps have a much better "short term" memory than humans...Something we traded [as we evolved] for better "long term" memory. hmm....I think ive been short changed at both ends!!
  15. loved that add...good song too! A recent favourite was a health insurance add featuring a young imaginative boy describing how a "big cwoc" attacked him..ripping off his arm and leg and eating his guts!! most hated would have to be any of those late night "love match/adult" sms adds, just ridiculous
  16. I could smell them on the night i caught my biggest jew [at juno].Smelt them as soon as i arrived.A local jew charter once told me he could smell them [occasionally] as well.
  17. agree totally! charters are a lot of fun and iv'e caught some good fish on them [no marlin though] but they've done all the groundwork for you...it just isn't the same.
  18. hi alberto,[personally] iv'e caught jew up to 16kgs but the most exciting/best catch for me was a 49cm bream back in june 96'. i was fishing the rail bridge at night for jew when i kept getting hits but no hookups so decided to throw out a handline with a smaller hook.it got hit around a minute later and a good 5-10 minute fight ensued.I got it close to the surface twice only to have it dive down again. I thought it was a school jew when i saw the silver flashes in the moonlight,i just couldn't believe it when i realised it was a bream.I remember i was shaking when i removed it from the net...it was just so bloody big! anyway, got home to take a photo but damn..no film! ...bragged about it to a local fisho [few days later] only to be told that a school of big "blue nose" bream had moved into the system and he'd caught a few that size himself.
  19. i'll just take a shot...but is that the old ss "bunker hill"?
  20. love that beach shot codfisho! ..is it natural? did you use any filters?
  21. here's a pic of the second biggest flattie i've ever caught ,[nephew holding it] caught it at west reef. biggest one i caught went around a LB more [no pic].....caught it off the wharf near brooklyn boat ramp...go figure! edit:both were a case of the ol' hmm.".that baits been soaking awhile, better check it".

    Devo

brought a smile to my face when i heard they were touring again. they were a big thing back in early 80s...a lot of fun too. was thinking about going, glad i didn't after reading your post ceph, might have ruined some happy memories! most "reunion" tours are good...black sabbath last year were just awsome!!! and you can't blame the guys for wanting to make a buck...but there are some bands that are best left in the past [sex pistols is another] yes, i did smile when i heard, but i also felt a slight "cringe" as well.
  23. wasn't it interesting! the part about beach/rock lure fishing for jew was [for me] a real eye opener, i had no idea how shallow/close to shore they sometimes sat! ps, i think phil made the question "p*ss easy" to give the young ones a chance
  24. what's the best depth [of water] to place them?
