  1. Nice king mate...no matter where you caught it
  2. I'm sitting here with what must be 40+ outside with an aircon that sounds like it's gunna clapp out at anytime and that blue water looks sooooo good! All quality pics
  3. You need to cut open the stomach and squeeze out the contents. check out the post "de-ja-jew"..it has a pic of a partly digested mantis shrimp. When i was a kid growing up out here in the west suburbs I'd see hundreds of them congregating around the porch lights every summer..but this year i haven't seen one..not a single one! Perhaps the bream got to them first?
  4. Mate, that's a good offer! Would have jumped on that if i lived close by
  5. Give it time Roberta, I'd imagine it's very hard to change after many years of winding right handed. Probably didn't matter much in the past but nowadays with the success and popularity of sps there's a definite advantage to it. Being a lefty I've never had trouble winding with my right hand as lefties are used to compromise [living in a right handed world] so i got the best of both worlds..able to accurately cast and work the rod with my favoured arm whilst using any reel..baitcaster/overhead/alvey etc. makes up for having to learn all those complicated knots in reverse.
  6. Anyone know what it is?? It's got some lobster like tail on it. could be a mantis shrimp. good report Klainz..certainly a few jew around at the moment
  7. If someone could pm me details of when & where it is aired I'd be quite grateful. Well done again Roberta!! Your certainly becoming a regular in the fishing mag scene ....and why not! That kayakfishing thing is becoming very popular and your reports are as informative & interesting as anyones. [though you wouldn't get me in one of those, recon they'd look like a giant beef taco to a great white] *Hi seacow, mate what page? just bought it [nsw feb] and can't find the pic. edit: oh ok..just read slicendices post and it's in diff. mag.
  8. Happy birthday mate...keep an eye out for that postie

    The Frog Test

2nd grade eh? That country worries me
  10. those front pectoral fins look a bit like arms...useful for maneuvering through kelp no doubt.
  11. Damn...guy catches a really nice jew and doesn't know what it is!! Well done jonno86 [half ya luck]

    Recarpet The Boat

I don't know snag but that's some clever advert placement there.
  13. Hi roberta...what's a "doughnut"?
  14. Hi jewfishnetter, I wouldn't worry about angling restrictions in the hawkesbury any time soon...be hard for anyone to put blame on us whilst the trawlers are still running.
  15. Same thing happened to me at parsley bay in dec. I was a bit defensive at first but soon warmed to him after a quick chat. Said he once ran a charter in the area years ago and gave me heaps of advise as where and how to fish certain areas of the system. [most of which iv'e forgotten] He also said he had copped heaps of abuse over the santuary thing and that he had nothing to do with the greenies but was collecting info on how to better manage the fishstocks for fishos. *BTW ..he also said that the government can't impose any new fishing restrictions before current fishing licences expire. But i wouldn't put money on that!!

    Out Of Action

Mate..I'll have one for you. All the best for next week,I recon you'll be back home in no time.
  17. I recon shots like that one advertised in the right places would bring in more tourist $$ than any proposed marine sanctuary. Another good report josh Mate, what can i say...fishing in the morning..bbq lunch with mates..some footy in the arvo. Now that's a day well spent!
  18. Well done Ritchie..glad to see you guys got into some fish though i recon you would have enjoyed it regardless! Good to see those damn catties are good for something..nice crabs and that soup looks delicious!!
  19. Eeeeuuuuw..that's just too creepy for me!
  20. "kiwifruit"..good marketing ploy by NZ farmers, not only is the name more palatable but most of the western world think they're native to NZ. Similar to OUR macadamia nuts..ask just about any American and they'll tell you they're native to Hawaii, because growers there market them as "Hawaiian macadamia nuts". Hi Carl, I guess that blackbox question was a bit obvious but i've always wondered why they are orange and not bright yellow as I thought yellow would be easier to spot underwater. Anyways thanks for another entertaining post
  21. Orange! *Aussie invention btw.
  22. But don't forget to factor-in the variables, IE: your head is around a foot away from the fish [take *8% off total..*5.4x width of head] also, the fish has lost some length as it is facing slightly toward the camera [add *10%-*12% to total]. [*approx] That's one of the best looking kingies I've seen in a while Dez...well done!
  23. Very good fish..well done!!
