  4. Hi there Fishraiders, looking to fish the Clovelly Rocks area any tips on what more likely there or too many snags, small fish ect... Just lookin to do a bit of research before I give it a go Cheers Sparky77
  5. Thats it matey... but remember if theres a howling nor-easter and its too rough, then you can go across to Juno point and theres a pretty good spot too as long as theres not much boat traffic
  6. We prefer to fish on the west side of flint and steel but only just west of it 20-30 metres and depending if its run in or run out tide (best at top of tide or bottom of tide) Easier if you fish right off the point is also good about 50-60 metres off the land is a good starting point. Flint and steel if not sure where it is on the southern side of bate bay and is the second outcrop/point berore turning into pittwater The squid we managed to catch in botany bay prior at a spot which consitently reliable, but im aware they can be caught around pittwater so ive read, have to look into it. Hope it helps you out... Cheers
  7. Went for an evening Jewfish hunt on the Hawkesbury system with my mate Steve, caught a few livies and headed down to Fint and steel reef. My mate Steve hooked onto a nice 3-4 kilo Jewie on the first cast! used locally caught squid... Then Bang on the second cast using the same bait he hooked on a very large Toad fish at least 3 kilos! Thinking my baits arent workin whats the go, then about half hour later Bang my rod buckles and onto something big... managed to pull it up to be a 4-5 kilo Jewie, now I was content we both caught a jewie each and anything else was a bonus Amazingly there were no pike eels stealing the bait and no sharks grabbing the livies we also had out! No other boats were out there too (prob gettin ready for work the next day) so we had the pick of the crop when it came to choosing our spot.... Fished from 1800 to 2230 hours on the high tide, Jewies preffered the fresh squid Cheers Sparky77
  8. looks like a bronzed whaler, but not 100% sparky77
  9. Now thats is a big trevally! too bad the ones here arent as big
  10. use light line if possible, size 4 mustad 92247 (baitholder hook) half metre trace, and choose your sinker to be light enough to cast out just a few metres beyond or on where the bluer water meets the shallow water depending on where you fish. As a rule for me I tend to get some of the smaller fish when surprisingly I cast heaps further out, its as if the larger fish are game to come in closer. But keep moving along the beach if you get stuck with no bites or too smaller fish. And fish the twilight hours. Good luck Sparky77
  11. Just went for a fish off the beach down at brighton, caught 5 oversize whiting 35+cm and threw back some just under size bream and whiting Used nippers for bait, fished early morn 6am to 10am on a rising 1030am high tide Good day out and beaut weather..... sparky77
  12. Great stuff there... I caught the same sized one last Jan off the Botany bay mangroves, good fighters on light gear... Cheers
