Good stuff, Jeff! Yeah, there was a slight swell early but it turned to glass mid morning. Magic out there! Saw some guys at the ramp with the same boat as me (but with a 50, not a 60) and they’d been to the FAD for a couple of dollies so now I know my boat can go there... except for one small problem. Remember when I said I thought it was taking on water the other day? Well, the bilge pump kept kicking in today. Buggered if I know where it’s leaking! It’s only 4 years old! I’m pretty careful re electrolysis... I wonder if she’s split a seam somewhere. I did come off some waves pretty hard a few times the other week... my back still feels it!

What type of boat is it?   I have had the live bait tank overfilling and the water swooshing over the top between the tank and hull.

I also had a brand new live bait tank pump that was spraying water out of the casing under the floor.   They replaced it under warranty.   Any fitting in between could be leaking too.   Bungs not sealing properly.   Odds on it will be something minor.

Yes and I usually do call on the radio anyway but I like having the app tracking me, especially when solo.

It is a good thing that’s for sure.    I haven’t used the app for a while and found it a bit clunky.   But I had heard the bugs are fixed.

  3. Some good fishing to be had in the bay some days are quiet though.   Burley up for Trevally, bream, Squire at times particularly after rough weather outside.

Outside it’s snapper and flatty time.  Also a good time of year to target squid inside and out.

There’s some beautiful sunny days to be had with light westerlies that time of year.

The theory JD's prefer Mado simply because they are easier for them to catch- as they aren't as "athletic" and quick as yakkas, has surfaced many times over the years, whatever the reason,be it taste, smell.sight or agility I'm not sure, but I'd always choose(and recommend) one over a yakka! Years ago, Joe Ritchie, who was one of the pioneers of "vertical spinning for kingies"(jigging) caught a Marlin on a mado fishing solo in his new boat!

A marlin on a Mado is good going.

Have you tried trimming the fins on yakkas for John Dory?

Glenn sounds like the hacking was a very productive space ! You should look into purchasing another offshore  rig!

    Cheers Ian

that is where i found the map ! For anyone else thats interested it is on level 1 of the library,  file is numbered G8971.C2/s-25 .N48

Your not allowed to borrow the map so i had to scan it in 8 A3 sections

that being said i am in the process of getting a full size scan in A0 and will keep those who are interested updated

I would love a copy too and will cover your costs if you could make an extra copy.

Thanks Dave - I have found some aluminium holders and they are actually cheaper. Are there any down sides to them - would they bend easily?

I have 2 alloy holders at home if you are interested in buying them off me.  I was going to use it in place of the plastic ones for the downrigger spot but it didn’t quite cover the paint marks of the plastic one.

I ended up making an aluminium  rod holder to mount underneath the gunnel with the original plastic one fitting in like a sleave.  I will dig up photos if you like.

With the alloy ones I’d be fitting with sikka flex and large alloy rivets.  If I was to use stainless screws I would make sure no part of the stainless touches the alloy.  The same thing if I used stainless rod holders no stainless would touch alloy anywhere.

It’s all ok guys and thanks for being vigilant and helpful ;)

As Mike said they are trying out some new advertising strategies.

Back to fishing - tight lines :)

Looking at the weather forecast I probably just be sitting in the boat in the shed this weekend :1wallbash:

No, Welster, I said it but I didn’t provide the link. Thanks for that... I was having a fat ginger day on my phone!

If I was down at Greenwell Point, I’d be going straight to The Banks, weather permitting. ?

I have a few fat ginger days too :1prop:

  9. Captain spanner is right.

I know the rule live bait pumps have an optional second outlet do that only the one hole is required through the transom.   I think the deck wash outlet isn’t fed by the pump so it needs a second pump connected for deck wash pressure.

The valve system you mention could be used if you just want some water to rinse things without much pressure.

With Snapper season just around the corner I bet a few Raiders are going to run into the hard fighting Sergeant Baker haha. I think the record of 1.59KG is far to low & one of us should do better.

I put the challenge to you. Check out the IGFA world record below.

    http://wrec.igfa.org/WRecordsList.aspx?lc=Species&cn=Sergeant Baker

The bar doesn’t seem very high there.   The record is 53 cm (fork length I guess). FR record is 54
