  1. Thats a beauty. Better late than never!
  2. Wow that was good fishing trip. Now you have to top that off next time you go.
  3. I would just remove that roller tip and put a better one. Atleast if you got something big on the end of the line, u wont be worried and just concentrate on boating the fish.
  4. I think this guy just wanted your spot so he tried to get rid off you.
  5. What another lost. A very good fisherman that does not fish to make sponsors happy but to teach fisho to be a better angler. He will be greatly missed.
  6. I hope this one would give you an idea: I wish this was my beast!
  7. Or you could place it near the front (so your deckie would chop the bait and berley 4u) so its out off the way or else install it at the rear bench and just take it off when your driving.
  8. Most standard Transducers that comes w/ fishfinders this days would only go from 100 - 150 mtrs and the screen just go blank. Like a friend of mine has one of those Lowrance x515c and it says it can go up to 762 mtrs max and always goes blank on 120 mtrs. I dont know if his set up was wrong but another friend of ours whos got the same sounder does the same thing. Possibly pm one of the guys like gregl about it as he does bluewater fishing all the time.
  9. Shame on TABCORP/2KY. Theyre not even letting Bruce and Kieren to do a farewell show.
  10. The hds looks promising and to be honest just get a really good quality sounder on its own and save up for a gps later. You might get tempted to go to Browns this season and you dont want for a sounder to black out when you get there or before. You need big power if your fishin deep.
  11. What a beauty!!! But still confused wheres that location.
  12. Thats an awesome place. Away from the crowd and fish until you drop. Can I borrow your son so he can catch some live bait for me?
  13. You have the locations right. As for fish reference you can get them for free at your local tackle shop. Its a book provided by the fisheries.
  14. Its the ocsilating design of the gears that makes it spool on like that on the older models. You will find that mostly all the new reel design will not do this as manufacturers needed to compromise for majority of people using braid.
  15. You got the idea there. Its the nature of overheads especially wider ones to roll over to one side. The narrower the spool the easier it is to control. Thats why o/h jigging reels tend to be narrower than normal o/h. The cheapest way to fix this is just buy a gimbal belt. Cheaper than buying another reel.
  16. Any photos of the bait bord you bought? Makes a bit easier for us to suggest some ideas.
  17. Its better than working. And I mean working out in the rain.
  18. Ive got the 7amp model and its always connected until Ill go fishin
  19. 12.6 to 12.8 static voltage is fully charge battery. 12.00 volt is half charged battery. The reason why you have a change in voltage is that you have load on your battery which is a current draw from all your accessories which is normal. When you get home after fishing place your battery on to a piece of timber charge it up with your Ctek charger. Leave on the charge until your next fishing trip as you dont have to worry about overchaging. A battery thats not on charge for a long time will make your batterys glass mat or really its an envelope deteriorate settle on the bottom of the battery an at the same time sulfation occurs and when this happens your battery wont hold charge and you will make battery resellers very happy. Your battery charger will prevent all of this (sulfation) as its not a trickle charger but a pulse charger. Remember you can leave the charger outside as it is waterproof.
  20. Tyrnos are nice smooth reels and lever drags are more easier to use than a star drag as you would normally set the drag at home to suit the line you got before you go fishing and atleast when you have a big thumper at the end of the line you know that the max drag you set before wont snap the line. Get the 2 speed.
  21. Possibly a 8lb mininum flourocarbon as its more abrasive resistant and invinsible under water but nothings wrong with using normal mono as you will catch the same fish what the more expensive flourocarbon will catch.
  22. Im assuming your gonna be fishing plastics when you say jigheads. If this is the case It would be better for you to use braid connected via a slimbeauty knot to a flourocarbon leader. Braid would be easier to cast and with a slim beauty knot it would prevent that leader getting caught on the guides (leader tag end is facing towards you) resulting to wind knots or limited distance in casting. Leaders are added so you got that extra stretch when you hooked on to a fish and is normally the same or more lbs. than your main line
