  1. You can use soft plastic on any boat and if you are intending to go ouside for snapper on plastics then half cab will do fine, but i find when in an estury or bay the lighter center/side tinny bass boat are the supreme becouse you can fish from all around the boat. And buy adding an electric motor to the front you have total control on your position and stealth, this is quite hard to do in a half cab, you have to guess the drift and hope you hit the mark and pulling in the sea anchor all the time can be a pain in the butt. There is no rule on what type boat you have to get to use soft plastic. If you watch the AFC or any other soft plastics comp then you'll see most boats are open. As far as the engine what ever brand it may be just make sure it's been regulary serviced no matter the hrs on it, some engines may have been re-build and if done by a pro then it'll be like new. Cheers Snooze.
  2. I agree with the argument but i dont agree on closure to fishing. Putting up a no fishing sign is just a quick fix for the council, the council should do more then just put signs up. Why don't they send inspectors out and actually fine these people? word of mouth travells very fast. And if anyone gets caught doing things like this then they deserve a hefty fine. We as human beings have the right to hunt for our food, its a natural process which we tend to forget. Cheers Snooze.
  3. It's a difficult question to answer. I have a 5.5m half cab boat and its great for most of my uses with it, fishing cruising etc. but i have recently be getting into the soft plastics purely because i catch more fish and bigger ones, and now I'm contemplating on getting a center/side consile boat, but this will mean i will be more open to the elements. I think there should be more thought on what YOU intend to use it for. You will find that you really don't get much choice in the brand of motor you want from a second hand boat but ask for all the maintenance recipets for the motor, being and old boat there will quite a few hrs on them but if they have been regularly service you should not have much problems with them, but if you can afford an engine upgrade then id go for an e-tec.
  4. you will find that the best time for pumping nippers is on the run out tide. pump the edge of the reseading water and you should come up trumps. Also it will stop your pump getting filled with sand.
  5. the peak is quite famous for it leather jackes as well.
  6. Slugos are the older style stick baits, but they are still effective on a wide variety of fish. ask your local tackle shop about them.
  7. If your after kingies then get some slugos on a worm hook and throw it at the markers and rip em back as fast as you can, you'll soon be on a kingfish. Check all your gear and knots and make sure your happy with your set up and drag becouse they dont play nice.
  8. We didnt do too bad on the livies, but we couldent make em count/connect to any serious fish but we did get a few large sweep and some nice wrasse just ouside the heads and a few good whiting in the bay.
  9. boat base. same stuff i catch my live bait (yakka) early morning, old bread and a can of sardines and mix well untill sticky. Hope it helps. Cheers Sash.
  10. Unfortunatly with all the work in the bay live bait is a little difficult, but try the drums or close in at watts reef, must burley tho.
  11. they need "fresh" water constantly and try not to touch them. Cheers Snooze
  12. the weather is looking good for sat but only untill 1-2pm then it will be quite choppy, best thing to do about reefs is buy a reef chart. As far as out the heads, all along side the light house cliffs should produce a few goodies, but be carefull please. Dont what to be reading about you in the papers. Cheers Snooze
  13. A Must for me anyway. Live bait tank Berley bucket Plenty of rod holders Kill tank. if possible. Bilge Pump Electric anchor, if fishing alone. Sea anchor (a must for drifting in open water or wide bays). Rocket launcer set of clear covers for those widy days and coppy days. Tackle box/s 27meg radio all the recomendation of the boating manual. open/closed. sure theres more but its my basics. Cheers Snooze
  14. I think thats debatable,he should have cut up the pilli and then seen what happens or throw bread and the slams and then see what happens, sorry dont wanna be a party pooper i love the guy i have most of his cd's but its clear its just marketing jargen. Cheers Snooze

    Braid

You should use the specified line rating for the reel (its written on the reel) and also match your rod with reel, this way the hole system is in sync and should feel good when your using it. Cheers Snooze :
  16. Best baits for botany bay are nippers and prawns for bream whiting but i tend to find i get more flatties on strip baits, this year for me the slimies mac's have been a bit hard to get but yakkas are around. So if you spend a little time in the morning collecting bait becouse the fresher it is the better your fishing experiance is going to be. Anchor of the second runnway, tight near the yellow markers send down some prawns and nippers on a std beach type rig or a potanoster rig also dont forget a heavier out fit at least 20lb braid and no more that 40lb leader on a strip bait (Mulloway rig). Drift from hotwater to the sticks or vice versa depending on the current, throw down a couple of Mulloway rigs on strip baits and dont be afraid to do abit of soft plastics while you are at it,becouse theres usally a few surprise. Also the bay doesnt really get to choppy before 1:30pm again depending what the weather is doing so try and fish as early as you can and stop about midday but the bay is at it's best when its a washing machine. Hope this help. Cant givaway to many secret. Cheers Snooze
  17. i just use the outdoor expadtion knife jigs that you can buy at Ray's Outdoors, i think they are about $8 each. I use to use the black magic jigs but at double the cost, this way u wont be screaming your head of when the jackets bite you off. Cheers Sash
  18. He must have thought that the car would float becouse the boat was hooked up to it.

    Reef Charts

Boat base my usual haunt is of cooge, the sharp drop of cliffs , but you gotta get in close to the wash, and i wouldent be doing it in a swell, look for deep drop off's on your sounder and some kelp will help. You can buy a chart from your local tackle shop with all the well know gps marks, like the peak, 12mile, Trag etc.
  20. Hi guys/girls, Hey im after some paper reef charts around Botany Heads and out wide of Botany, searched the web and cant come up with anything that i can clearly read, may one of you have somthing like this, i would really like to have a look at them, trying to find some Red's territory. I know of the usual haunt's but just feeling adventures would like to find some new grounds, and i promise i'll share if i come up with the goods. Cheers
  21. I hope i didnt offend you, i didnt mean to if i did, what works for 1 person doesnt mean it will work for another, i understand that, and if gulps are doing it for you then keep at it. Ive even used silicone to catch flatties, just squeeze out 4''out of the tube and cut down the end to look like a tail and tread it on a 1/4 ounce jig head. This is the cheapest meathed i know. Cheers Sash
  22. As far as the colour it doesnt really matter i think, but try nuclear chicken, smel and if you can try and get some powerbait clear or white 3" minnows. Even the kakoda minnows will do and they are way cheaper. Try not to go any heavier than a 1/4 ounce jig head, i know there can be a some current running thought there at times but just cast against the tide and keep in good contact with your lure and one more little hint stay on the left side of the lake heading to the inlet, stay near the weed/grass beds and keep the lure hopping beside it, not in it. If sombody told you they were too big then you might have had the 4 or 5". Just my 2c worth.
  23. Sorry dude i dont believe that for second as far as the gulp, iv'e cought flatties on every single plastic you can think of and to tell you the truth i have had as much sucsess with the uncented plastics, although most plastics these days have some kind of scent throught them.
  24. Im not a fan of the new boat ramp, I was looking forward to it but now im having second thoughts about taking my boat there . Its bad enough at kyeemah where people dont give a toss about your boat and ram it, they cant wait 10min to get your trailer. Yeah its gonna be good times ahead, insurance company's are gonna be busy.
