  6. Went up to Narooma recently for a family holiday......The fishing outside was pretty good with some quality kings around .....if you could get them in before the seals got them....they are really becoming a huge problem up there.......the average size was about 90cm. This one was just under the meter mark. I've been dying to get my little man out on an estuary fish for ages and it was great to see him out there and enjoying it. Have a look at the concerntration. I had to put him on the bait as the lure fishing was as tough as i've ever come across. We landed only about a dozen flathead for the whole trip out of about 20 hooked.....never had it this bad, although the size of the fish was unbelievable......unfortunately we dropped 3 fish in 2 days that were between 80-90cm.....finally a decent fish was landed. A good trip with some nice fish but some long fishless hours included.
  7. Thanks Guys .....we do a trip like this maybe twice a year and they are great weekends, catching fish is a bonus. Wel done to Troy on filming and editing....great to be able to re live it

  10. Hi raiders. My mate did some filming on our last trip and captured some great footage of a lure caught Jew and two monster flathead including a 98cm Crocodile. The footage captures some real life raw emotion that I'm sure we've all experienced and is the thing we love about fishing Hope you enjoy..
  11. Great stuff Ray...nothing like the feeling of a PB
  12. Absolute pearler mate....well done. Awesome to release her too. I've seen and caught many big girls and if she was up around the 105cm would be easy 7.5.... Head and mid section huge.....tail is thinnish.....in top condition that fish would push 9
  13. Great Achievement....well done
  14. Great fish mate....keep at it and that boat record will be smashed soon.....well done on the release
  15. Cheers guys for the comments....yeah there were 3 pretty happy anglers going home from that trip.....cant wait for the next one
  16. Wow :1yikes: All I can say is Wow
  17. Went away with the fellas last weekend for a Jewie and Flathead weekend at Mallacoota and I gotta say the fishing was the toughest I have seen for some time....We spent the whole weekend out on the water never coming in for the 3 days.......numbers of flathead caught was pretty average but still between us we managed three outstanding fish. We arrived on Friday and that evening saw 2 awesome fish. First up came a 7.3kg Jew....I actually called it for a big flathead......It fought very similar to the way a really big flathead fights....I thought for a moment that I might of cracked the magical mark but when I saw silver and Bronze the nerves kicked in more than ever.....Mallacoota jew on a lure........still buzzing. Just as it was getting dark, we (myself and mialla) decided to hit a bank that we had seen previous success at and as we came around the corner we were like "oh no theres a boat in there".....it turned out to be our mates we were up there with and we could hear them yahooing.....we go over and Dave has landed himself the longest flathead I've seen with my own eyes.......An Absolute Monster of 98cm and there abouts 15lb... What a beast.......( the Flathead I mean) Saturday was tough but Sunday saw another cracking fish.......the wind was blowing hard and the plastics were just not going well at all so there were a few Poddys collected and soaked over a couple of quieties.....the poddys went off .....a good feed of flathead were caught and then Mialla's rod went off again but this time it was a good fish..... up came this 90cm girl....another beauty to finish off an amazing trip. Two big girls Released ......Jewie for dinner
  18. I had a fishpond a few years back and always got a good crop of mudeye hiding in amongst the rocks and plants....ready made bait
  19. Never really given rock fishing a serious go but it looks fun......great pictorial report
  20. That sure is a beauty. I am amazed sometimes at how much these vary in weight. Be assured all those fish I mentioned were released too.....Biggest I've kept was 74 about 6 years ago. I always try to get a weight by weighing them fully supported in the net.....sometimes I forget and release them too quickly in all the excitement. I know what you mean about the fight. This one was my heaviest, I wasnt ready for the photo but it really shows off the tail which was just unbelievable.....I too thought I may have done it...(cracked the meter) or got really close when she first came up but she only measured 92.5. But weighed in at 6.8KG...I thought I may have jagged a ray at first, no joke. Other 90's Have been 95 at 6.6kg....92 at 6.6kg.....92 at 5.8kg....94 at 5.2kg.....my mate has got a 95 at 6.4kg and the skinniest of all 93 at 5.0kg. I think its amazing that 2 fish at 92.5 and 93 can weigh 1.8kg difference and it was the shorter that was heavier. Keep em coming Rob.....Love it
