98cm is an absolute ripper .....cant believe it was only 6.5 kilo.....a fish of that length could easily weigh 8kg......she looks a bit thin in the tail but what a beauty...
Just a tip with those big girls....its always good to give them plenty of support when lifting them....they are a heavy unit and it can only help to get them with 2 hands....I also always weigh mine in the environet and subtract the net weight that way they are are fully supported .....
Congrats and well done for letting her swim.... an absolute cracking fish
Thanks guys
Yeah a cracker trip.
I believe he used iMovie or iLife which is on apple computers.
The guy who filmed the majority and edited it has just joined up here, he could tell you more.
Mialla show your ugly face
Hey raiders.
This is something my mate has been mucking around with.
It captures some of the footage of our Sth Coast Fishing on the trip where that Monster Flathead was caught.
It was a great boys trip and some good laughs were had.
The 6.8kg fish was caught on film but only a small clip from it is on here although the 84cm is on in full.
Have a look and a giggle and if you ever see someone with a PINK FLATHEAD LOSER CAP on the water come over say g'day and laugh at them.
Enjoy and let us know what you think.
Thanks for all your comments guys....yeah she was awesome and far too good to kill.....
I have been chasing these girls for about 10 years now...at first I didnt have a clue what I was doing and hardly caught any but of late have been getting these big girls more consistently....
This one is my 5th over 90cm and have landed a 92, 93, 95 and 84 in my last 3 trips.....they are not as rare as many people think....some say a fish of a life time but if you know what takes their fancy they can be caught with some time put in.
this site is the most friendly forums I have seen...thanks again for your comments and nice words.
I will put up some other pics soon.
Cheers
DC
Hi Guys
I fished with a few mate down on the sth Coast last week and had an awesome 3 days .
We were mainly targeting Flathead as is our annual tradition at this time a year.
We all chip in and buy a few prizes the top one being a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue.
We landed over 150 flathead for the 3 days and I was fortunate enough to take out 1st and 2nd prize with a couple of nice fish.
The first one went 84cm
Well anyone would be happy with that fish but the one caught the next night was unbelievable.
She wasnt my longest fish but was the fattest and pulled the scales down to 6.8kg or 15 lb.
(Fish always weighed supported in net and weight of net subtracted)
Happy to say both fish were released.
Still on a buzz form this one.
A cracking few days
Congratulations mate......they are a beautiful fish and great to see you show it the respect that it deserves by letting her swim.......the video and photos and memories you have from that are far more lasting than a few fillets.......
Hopefully we can see more and more doing this.
Hi guys
I am chasing 125mm or 150mm Silver fox shads that may be around.......Im pretty sure tackle shops dont have them anymore but im hoping there are members who have some in their collection who dont and probably wont use them...
If you do I would love to buy them off you.
Please pm me.
Cheers DC
Great fish mate and congrats on the release. There is not a better feeling.
What a pity you didnt have the brag mat. I have been trying to get a photo of a meter plus fish on a mat for ages and it seems no one has one.
Might have to go out there and get my own.
Well done
Caught on lure.
I have caught 5kg plus that have come up like a sack of spuds and others that have gone really well.Usually its the ones caught in shallower water that go well I have found but this one tuffed it out like the best of them and was caught in about 9 meters. Go figure
Posted this pic in the wanted 1 meter flathead post but heres another shot of her. Well I cant stop looking at it anyway.
6.6kg of fatty boombada
Knees are still knocking.
