  1. I think the limits there to ensure we dont take the grand parents, the main breeders of flatheads. Correct me if im wrong
  2. Yea best way is to play around with it. The quicktime movie that comes out of Final Cut pro is the file you use with compressor. And any other program as well, best way as you said is to get in there play with it etc. Goodluck and post links when your done!
  3. Hello Method, Am currently studying film at Uni and have had to incorporate uploading mini short films onto YouTube as an evaluation tool so to speak. You need to compress your video files down BEFORE uploading them to YouTube and they will need to be under a certain size, not sure what size exactly but we had no trouble uploading 6 minute videos. You can use various programs the easiest would be Apple's compressor, you'd have to find an equivalent on the Windows side. You can change the frame rate and pixel display size (dramatic file size loss), I would try leave your frame rate at around 20-25 fps as it's going to get too jumpy. Basically all you need to do is: Find a compression tool Compress to a H.264 file size (best online streaming format) - choose your kps rate 150-300-500 for e/g - result avg 6-10min film from 20-30gig raw to 14-20mb stream-able version Youtube also checks the video before uploading I THINK, not too sure, but there is a short time before its enabled on the web for viewing.
  4. Wow sounds like you had a fun time ! Might have to give soft plastics a go sometime.
  5. Hey guys Looking to install a bilge pump in my boat and would like some info on your setups, what you used. What brands should I be looking at buying, and looking at some on websites it doesn't look like they come with any fittings...Can anyone suggest any reading materials based on these pumps. Question: Do i need to install 1 in the main hull, and one ontop of the main floor? Have a 6 meter boat and a 12V battery, do i need to get another battery and dual run them, or does the bilge pump run on relatively low voltage. Just fishing for ideas, hints before I make a fool of myself at a boating store.
  6. I normally just have a hearty meal before going out on a long day out to sea, although i do get rare moments of sickness (big swells) ( i eat and drink straight after throwing up) lol it sounds a bit weird, but your stomach needs something to pass up! and you can keep on fishing! While your mates laugh at you ! I normally feel a bit "crooK" once the boat has come to rest. Ginger tablets the night before and 2 hrs before you venture onto the boat are also a good idea, generally speaking I don't take any mixed concoctions, no real idea whats in them. Good luck!

    Bbq Plate

Used to work for a large Australian casino and I cleaned up all the barbies after the major Gold Coast functions. Heat the plate well up so its starting to smoke. Then we poured on a chemical called "D9" it will make a black plate turn silver in about 1 minute. Let the D9 soak in, and then start scrubbing and adding luke warm water till the plate is free of the chemical. Repeat the process till the plate is crystal clear. IMPORTANT: use 1 litre of vinegar to dilute and neutralize the chemical then procide to wash it off with water once again. Spray the plate with oil and use a paper or hand towel to soak the plate with oil. - Use PPE mask, apron, gloves, goggles as the chemical is highly toxic if inhaled freely and can give a nasty rash. It's a commercial chemical used to clean ovens and grills....but, I can gaurentee the barbie will be brand brand new and works like a treat!
  8. Nice work! Had massive runs of mack tuna on southern goldy last week, lets just say the cat was happy Nice work on the GT
  9. Ah that seems like it! We don't use a mono leader, sorry to bother about that, but honestly didn't know we had to run a mono leader, assumed it would effect the lure in some way? Im also guessing we would have to use a special type of knot to tie the braid and mono together rather then using a swivel, if so what is this knot called? And what type of lb mono should i use as a leader? Thanks iricangi!
  10. Recently acquired a new boat see below: And am in the process of upgrading it, implementing new things to improve my fishing experience. One major thing we want to get right straight away is a bait board, we are using crappy buckets and plastic like plates to get the job done atm, but it's really messy and bad on my knifes. We decided to fish out of it for a month to see what was really needed, without cutting up the boat and spending too much money that could be used on FUEL! My dad owns a building company and has alot of steel/aluminum suppliers, so we are going to make one from aluminum/galv or perhaps stainless steel? bit worried about the weight So we are looking at drawing one up to fit across the transform of the boat. What are good aspects we should include in a bait board? - rod holders? - strength issue what if i hook up on a big fish trolling? have 8 other rod holders for trolling so prob wouldn't need i dont think. - plastic board - storage/live bait tank under the board itself? to hold small yellowtail, pillies - single or dual mounted? - material: want to use aluminum/steel, considered using marine ply and glassing/panting it, easier to compose but would eventually rot and grow mold/algi. I'm assuming. - other? Would love some info, on your own bait boards even if you bought them commercially out of somthing like your local tackle chain place for example. Ps - Not really looking for the bait board that your local tackle chain sells: pre mounted and molded, looks tacky and feels pretty flimsy to be honest! Would rather take advantage of steel/aluminum.
  11. Thanks for the fast replys. I think there must be a problem with one of the eyes(guides) on 1 of the akumas, as thats been the main offender as of late. I think i will switch my pen bottom bashes over to braid, it saves my high speed gear for when baitfish come or a mysterious fish cruises past. ps - fishing on palmy reef on the gold coast a few weeks ago only one on the reef in the arvo almost night time. A 1.5 metre + spanish/wahoo cruised under and around the boat, only moments later (few seconds) a 2metre + "daddy" version of the spanish/wahoo to cruise under. I chucked out my bottom bashin mono line heaviest outfit, chucked a quick live yellow tail on it, rod almost snapped in half from the hit and bit through the mono Panicked and didn't have time to put a proper leader on, god i was spewing. Anyway enough of the ramble thanks for help!
  12. Newbie here from the goldy. I've been fishing since I was a little kid with my dad and have always used monoline. Recently we bought some nice okuma high speed luring outfits and placed braid on them, was absolutely thrilled with the way the braid handles compared to mono, and the fish count climbed! Wear and tear question : On a few occasions the line has snapped while casting (lost 4 lures over 2 days), and this isn't that hard casting, does braid weather/age very fast compared to mono? I tried cutting off a metre each time but still after a few hrs it would happen again. Using 20lb braid from the berkley range atm and don't want to lose another lure so fast. Upgrading: Bought a new boat recently/upgraded from a small tinny(12ft) to a center console (19ft) and have been venturing into deeper reefs. When we bottom bash, with small fish around the 2-3kg mark, we can't feel them bite that well on mono line (40lb) at 150-200ft depth, but when we change over to our okuma outfits with a mono leader, we can feel every single bite and rustle. Would it be worth upgrading all our rods to braid? Have a few heavy overheads for livies, and bottom bashin (penn + javis walker)? Would this achieve any greater benefits other then feeling prime bites? And if i hook up on a large mackeral/cobia for example will braid or mono perform better at the same lb. Thanks for your help if you can be bothered reading! - Iricangi
  13. Hey, am new to the site as well! I recently watched a creek to coast or something segment on the tv, and i saw they were using soft plastics/jigging technique over shallow reefs, getting fish such as coral trout, general cods and a few trevally on the odd occasion of a rock shelf. I'm kind of new to fishing as we have only finally upgraded our boat size and generally stick to livies, luring and fresh bait. I was wondering also, does anyone actually use soft plastics out on shallow reefs in the gold coast areas. Seems like a bit of fun and a change i could use, if fish were not on the bite. Also what species of fish would you expect to chase these?
