  1. Woohoo nice fish Probably the best fishing on the gold coast i've ever had was Lake Orr before they developed houses around the lake. Is that where you are?
  2. QUEENSLANDER Almost all the boats i see have carpet. When we pull our mackies into the boat their slime goes on the deck and we normally slip and slide.... The hook thing will suck, but i think carpet may be better... Though cleaning, I'd wana be able to take them out , gotta figure out a way to either double velcro or button them down.
  3. Congratz on your catch I'm still yet to taste a luderik...
  4. Well after a wet day out on the water and landing face and ass first in the boat i decided i needed some marine carpet to make the grip better. whats the difference between rib and ribless carpets? extra ribs are more $$ by about 10 bucks and other non ribbed carpet looks like it will turn out nicer...... I read through some posts using the search function and one guy in particular said... So ribbed or non ribbed? Thanks Matt.
  5. Knocked off work early with the intention of preparing the boat for a big Sunday trip with me and 3 other mates, but saw the swell reports and bloody Sydney is sending it's swell up here. Crossing bar thought it was 2ft but was peaking 3ft+ took 15mins to find a quick path past the breakers. Caught lots of sweetlip and cod/breams and moved futher out to sea. Struggling at 18knots though 2-3 metre swell and 30 knot winds we were drenched in our centre console in about 2 seconds.... 7kms later and the bilge pump doing a fair bit of work we arrive at our destination! Got slaughtered a few times but did not manage to hook up, more sweetlips and moses perch.. Put out a live yaka about 20-25cms ...... the thing was aniliated and we pulled the yellow tail up with just the tail in tact Heading back in cause of decreasing conditions WE PASSED A WHALE My first ever encounter with a wild whale, he came close to the boat, looked as if he was trying to play with us, whacking his tale up and down and doing jumps. Was pretty cool Just wish Nsw would take back their crappy weather
  6. We just went for a 2hour fish in 2-3metre swell and 20-30knot winds Had about 80litres of water splashing on us every few seconds Centre consoles are the best thing i've ever fished out of, shelter from wetness/rain/cold is another problem..... Unless you got a hardtop centre console on a larger model boat 20ft+ that would be a dream
  7. bring up my post or bump up my post w/e you like big ultasonic maroon players ?
  8. I need to put 2-4 more rod holders up the front of my boat, are these ones that lock onto the rail any good? the stainless steel heavy duty models ? or would you suggest just cutting out a bit of the gunwale and slotting the normal 15-30* ones in. Thanks Matt
  9. Yea yea bananas are bad luck I always take 2-3 out with me, considering our boat looks like a banana it's fine.
  10. I live in Qld on the Gold Coast and don't have the funds spare to get down there sorry
  11. How long does hot water last in a thermas, i like this hotdog idea!
  12. Where can i find out about a vhf course?
  13. What do you guys tend to eat out to sea? Generally just packets of chips and fruit for me, but looking at starting to take somthing more substantial for the longer fishing periods! I need ideas
  14. Installing a new radio in my boat in the next week hopefully, did you guys bother to buy an extra cover to permantly encase the radio while it is installed? To prevent corrosion, and water getting in through the back of the radio, as some models are not fully encased. Im going to install it to the left hand side of my centre console and the inside of the radio is going to sit in the storage area..... The face of the radio will probably get wet no doubt at any stage... so Will it be all good to go if I buy a fully water proof radio, mount it, and it can stay in the boat while it is stored?
  15. I'd assume they would put alot of pressure on the actual hull @ speed with the wind under it. Causing alot of drag and added pressure on the hull. Does your bimini fold down?
  16. A mate of mine did his, but he works for alleycraft. You just have to re-inforce it properly, but no idea how to do it sorry. Get someone to do it professionally, (also depends on size of tinny etc).
  17. yes yes you are Going out again on Sunday taking my dad and uncle out hopefully can pick up a dam fish on these plastics

  19. Do the local papers source them from here? Or do you guys personally submit them! Would be interested to find out
  20. Poor bloke. Hopefully people steer clear of rock fishing if the waves are too dangerous, although there are always some who take the risk! He may of also had a heart attack and fell in, can't rule that out. Hope all the best for the family he left behind.
  21. Well i woke up at 4am and off to work! Finished at around 11 and prepared the boat, the wind picked up was cloudy as hell and looking very crappy. Managed to get out the bait reef and really couldn't bother bashing back through the choppy 2 metre swell, so decided not to go out any futher! Caught lots of red rock cods, smaller cods, trevally, the smallest squire ive ever seen in my life, and lots of moses perch. Massive hits on my 5inch swim shade, but no hook ups, i dont think i had my jighead in the right way. The one thing that was a big catch was an albatross, we chucked our livie out and within 10 seconds it was in the mouth of a hungry resident albatross of currumbin. Took us 30mins to cross the bar back in due to the 10cm deep river mouth. After that threw all the few fish we had to the pelicans because our knives were blunt as hell Well I guess it was better then being at home watching tv! Hope the swell and wind settles down a bit for next time, going to re-grease and oil all the boat/trailer throughout the week and tweek a few seats! Hope you guys had a better day then i did Matt.
