  2. Thanks alot for your opinions has helped immensely
  3. Well done I like watching E.t's fishing shows, very entertaining and comes across as a nice guy. I remember one time he was catching kingies around the heads a few years back. I'll fish Sydney one day and hopefully on one of your charters
  4. R.I.P anyone who enjoys fishing is a brother in arms! or sister
  5. It's been 2 whole weeks of flat pancake swell up here and i've only been out twice as my car cannot tow the boat so i Use my friends (co-owner) of boat or my dad's work utes, but they use them in the week! So I'm going to trade my car in at the end of the year hopefully with enough savings and trade in for something that can tow my boat. I want to know the current specs for 2003-05 Hilux 2 wheel drive 2.7 petrol The towing capacity braked and non braked. And also what other cars/sedans have similar pricing and towing capacity, what about a 2003-2006 commodore? Boat weighs around 750kgs loaded on trailer (not currently braked as cables seized and we took them off ) And cost of putting new brakes on? All the ramps we go on are not steep even at low tide, t hey have all been re-done and the hilux had no trouble pulling the boat out loaded on low tide with axles in water. Current car 2005 Nissan pulsar sedan - 70,000kms so prob get around 9-10k for it and wanting to spend no more then 14.5-15k. Any suggestions are appreciated thanks.
  6. Well done ray Hopefully your next trip mother nature can be kind! Gold coast was like heaven for a whole week
  7. Hmm that battery jump start idea sounds good as I don't run dual battery set up. First aid kit and air horn are reasonably cheap so i'll pick some up this weekend! Whats a radar reflector? hmm just a quick edit in regards to battery jump starter packs, would 1 be sufficient to jump start a normal marine battery if it was "dead" flat?
  8. Offshore waters: Our boat has: Pfd1 x 4 27mhz Radio 406mhz Epirb Flares V Sheet Fire extinguisher Anchor+chain+rope 10 liters of water boat plate capacity label torch/waterproof/floats buckets for bailing Is there any thing I have missed off that list that you get warned/fined for in nsw waters, as we will soon be going out once a month across the border in the tweed, and would rather not get caught out. Ie- charts? do you require them or can you use your gps? And any other safety equipment you guys carry that I havn't listed! Thanks matt
  9. Like a little plastic squid that you can shove lumo beads in etc
  10. Headed out yesterday at 2pm and barely got over the bar as it was 5-10cms deep, freak wave got us over the bar, same story back in. Headed out to first reef nothing much so made the call to move out futher Sounded around and found a few shows so decided to anchor. We were bottom bashing with chunks of pillies. 1 on a rig em jig (did the best, best snappers) 1 on a mustard flasher jig (medium, bricked once) 1 standard just hooks (worst, but still ok, bricked once) For an hour we got around 15 snapper kept 3 around 40cms. Nothing too big but was fun as hell, must of pulled up a fish every drop, sometimes tripple hook ups. Got bricked twice by something massive, just couldn't stop the bastard. Had a pod of dolphins playing around us 2 was neat to see Anyway it was so good out there and hopefully can fine tune our snapper skills
  11. Looks like you guys had a nice time. I laughed when i saw the person trolling in the row boat. Clearly the master out of the lot! Wish i could have come down with my boat but I guess i'll stick to warmer weather up here.
  12. A feed of snapper going to test out some more new spots either fri/sat/or sunday depending how work/weathers goes.
  13. I hate eels they scare me. I caught one in a lake about 10 years ago and it must of filled up the entire cage of a crab pot and weighed aroudn 30kgs? pulled it onto the jetty and jesus christ this thing was huge, we legged it and levered it off the jetty with a large stick
  14. I enjoy finding my own spots, took dad out a while back and he lined up some highrises and a mountain and it was a little 50metre reef no1 knew of in the heart of the 24/36's off southport. Was quite unique to see how people used to find reefs. Still currently trying to find more reefs and my own spots, even though we don't produce much most times, with experience and testing we will get better knowledge of whats out there. Keep your spots to yourself imo But always help out a friend!
  15. Looking at having a go in either Commsec or Anz etrade (current bank) Commsec seems easy to use (dad trades heavily in it), haven't seen etrade in practice. Does anyone invest/trade in shares on a small scale 5000-10000?
