  1. is it to much to ask not to keep big flatties, keep as many as you want under 70 but let the big ones go,and to get 2 that big on a double hook up.....i dont give a damn what others say about keeping big flatties but as everyone nows there the big girls.why keep them there plenty other fish to keep out there that taste good.
  2. good size tuna's there mate, we were out there as well on sunday and i couldnt believe the number of boats out there.unluckyly for us we came back empty handed after being out there all morning from 6 til about 1,but we did the hours,it will be our turn soon.what time did you hook up as other reports are pointing towards late arvo hook ups with bugger all the rest of the day.
  3. biggest bream ive seem in a while,sx48 hey,i would have used a strip of mullet it seems to get the bream going and it costs a lot less. next time when me and jewel arent working(damn you maxwell!)we summon the salmon with a magic dance we were practicing at work(it involves slippery cable lube, gritted hand cleaner and the glitter from a bag of 3 inch minnows, preferably greem emerald.)
  4. words cannot desrcibe the feeling im feeling looking at those photos.4 tuna on one boat, and two on the other two boats but on our sunday charter......0.ross tried his hardest to get the fish to bight but unfortuneatly it just wasnt our day.credit to ross for the day and ill defineatly be out there again on his boat as he is a true master of his craft,so to the other crews that went out on the weekend congrats,to our crew theres always next time. i cant even drown my sorrows as im call.....
  5. ive found that moving within 5m of them helps to get the message across,if you notice people doing the wrong thing dont be scared to tell them, maybe they dont know its wrong to catch undersize fish(but most usually do) and against the law.usally this works.if they still persist make it 2m away.they'll get the message.(ive even accidently kicked over a bucket full of small bream taken from narra lake which happened to land back in the water.what are the chances of that.)
  6. just a quick one to let everyone know that the the pro's are really making a mess again in pittwater.on the way home last night saw one of them heading towards the bayview ramp which is bad enough as his probably one of the harbour blokes whos looking at pittwater as his new pillage grounds along with all the others, and since i had no work on today thought id head out to see what i could muster up.when arriving at the ramp who did i see packing up.the damn pro with crates full of fish, and a boat full of nets. get out there and everyspot i usually go,all i found was shit loads of ribbon weed floating on the surface,a few dead floating flounder and no fish.what a suprise. how long can this keep going on before theres nothing left in there. does anyone know where i can get my hands on the same chemicals that shut the habour down, as its seems the only way it will stop the carnage in pittwater and the hawkesbury.

    Fishin Sunday

and just a little something else for everyone to think about, fishrunner and myself both lost our anchors from what looks like sabotage as the rope was half cut though.if you started drirting all of a sudden you would now who to blame but cut the rope half way and you cant really tell what went on.i didnt realise until jewel informed me yesterday that brad lost his anchor as well and on closer inspection of the rope we both noticed that it was half frayed and half cut. if i see the same dive boat out there again there will a blood slick in the water and it wont be coming from my berly bucket.
  9. sounds good as it pulled just as hard as a little king.maybe his big bro's out there for next week!
  10. are almaco jacks usually found around here or was he lost?
  11. what a day, probably the best ive had on the water with nearly everycast getting onto something worth while, bream kings trevs and all the rest.the dreaded banana curse has been lifted from the boat-i think its my camera, didnt take it the time before and got dollys and big salmon and this time its twenty kings.i think i wont be taking it next time just to be sure. thanks again mick for the good day. and swearing at kingies seams to help turn ther heads towards the boat when there going for a big run as well.
  12. i dont think kangaroos have computers mate.
  13. went out today, same deal, did the troll-no luck.7 hours.maybe ask the pros who set the nets last week how they went with the kings.
  14. so you basically cant use any net except for scoops so how can the prawn trawlers still do what there doing or was i seeing something i wasnt supposed to??? and its a bit technical dont you think.i like the clause of schedule 10 so its out of mind out of sight for the weekend angler but the pros through the week they can do as they please.or am i reading it wrong.
  15. its also the prawn trawlers,(i think they are anyway)there always there doing a run from flint and steel up half way to akuna and back again and across to juno.you dont see them on the weekend but go out midweek and youul see them for sure.but what are we going to do about.i cant see them going for a long time yet with the way fisheries and the government seem not to be worried that these 'sustainable' fishing practises have a low impact on stocks.just follow one round for a while and see what the off catch is and youll never use hawksbury prawns as bait again.baby bream, snapper, flatties.you name it its usually in the wash of these 'sustainable techniques' after the nets are soughted.really makes you wonder why you pay a license fee dosent it,after what was promised at the begining and whats been done(with the exception of botany). :1badmood:and another day on pittwater trolling with the downrigger with live sqiud in the usual spots for f@#$ all.dont you love it.
  16. whos at work today and whos going fishing. :biggrin2:and you know me,always working hard mick.
  17. going out for a fish tomorrow(thank you rdo gods)and was wondering wether its worth trying the fads yet.has anyone heard and reports of dollys yet?
  18. when will they stop all commerical fishing in sydney all together, they stopped it in botany and from all reports its probably the best fishing in sydney.i ilve 5 minutes from the bayview boat ramp and yet i drive to roseville and botany ramp to go fishing. the amount of times ive gone without a good fish in pittwater i wouldnt be able to count and yet everytime i go to botany or to the habour i come back a happy man.i pay my license fees so why should we have to drive to botany and put more pressure on their stocks rather than put a few pros out of work and get pittwater back on its feet.im sure they can find something else to do.
  19. all cards relating to sea maps are expensive. ive got a navionics card for my chartplotter and it was $400 but its the whole esat coast of australia from cape york to tassie and if you even put near your computer it has a copy gaurd which erases all data from your card so dont try to look at it on your computer as a mate did and ending up costing him another 100 to get it reloaded.but 400 is a good investment if your fishing in a new spot and can instantly find some good ground close to you.mine a eagle fish elite and was only 700 (from america) and over here there1200 so do a bit of looking and youll find a good cheap plotter as its a bit cheaper than the garmin(but not as many features).
  20. if you want kingys in pittwater(there are heaps in there) go on a charter with peter leblang, from estuary fishing charters,i was like you, fished for ages without hooking up a good king, tried everything from live squid to dead mullet and not even a rat,got one when i wasnt going for them on a peeled prawn while fishing for bream.went out with peter in october after some advise from a mate telling me it was money well spent, since then ive pulled 6 kings all over 65 cm out of pittwater but its boring fishing, you can troll all day and get nothing, but thats fishing. good luck.
  21. still better than what i got on saturday mate went out with a mate at 600 back by 3.the results where 1 trev, the worlds smallest king(35cm),the worlds biggest yakka(37cm) but a couple of monster squid made the day a bit better.chilli pepper calamari for all and nice flatty mate from saturday 73cm is a big old girl and congrats on the pb
  22. those pictures are awfully similar mick.you sure you got two. well done mate and brad must be wondering if his boat still loves him after what youve showed her.
  23. nice one mate.bigger fish than i thought it would be after your call.at least you didnt have to go to newcastle yesterday to check a coulpe of lights. congrats on the first jew. maybe ill get a few kings to show on friday to match your jew, but knowing my luck ill get a couple of carp in pittwater as the banana shares are up this week.
  24. if only we could get those damn trawlers removed from the hawksbury, maybe the fishing would improve like botany has,but its only a dream for us on the northern beaches(i live just five minutes from bayview ramp and dont even bother as i either go to roseville or botany bay as thats where the fish are.)
