  2. nice work mate, i am still waiting for my first fish on blades hooked a nice bream a while ago but snapped the hook, that will teach me not to replace rusty hooks lol.
  3. nice work mate, what plastic were you using?? only thing ive got one on was a 1 1/2 inch grub.
  4. im 20 and i got 52 lol. thats shocking, probably should have gone a bit slower last night
  5. yer ive heard/ seen people using bright pink hard and soft lures for flatties, ive had some luck with the pink squidgy fish, and a pink and purple strike zone hardbody i have
  6. nice work cleaning up on the lizards. those last 2 are huge.
  7. nice snapper there and that is one f%@#*&g big shark on not much of a big boat, i wouldnt want to come across in the water.
  8. thats a monster of a tailor you got there, you cant complain to much about a by catch like that
  9. thats a giant cuttlefish (i wonder where they got the name) they are different to the usual ones you catch. when i did my dive course earlier in the year it was there breading time and there where heaps of them round shelly beach (cant fish there), but we saw one eating a groper they get massive and they are weird looking under water.
  10. i got a good haul of decent mullet the otherday in middle harbour, ive got a good stock of bait for when some decent fish start biting again.
  11. na i was fishing middle harbour, yer ive never used lizardfish for bait before but that all i could get so i used them and they did get taken. its the second flounder ive caught as a by catch lately, i bet if i start trying to target them i will never see another one again.
  12. decided to try for a jew yesterday arvo. got down to a spot a mate put me on to at about 2 tryed burlying up for yakkas with no luck so put out a small bait to see if anything came along whilst trying for squid, pretty soon my small rod went off and i pulled up a 25cm painted lizard fish and thought what the hell ill give it a go and chucked him out live. pulled in another 2 and then as i was reeling in another one the livey gets slammed(i nearly dropped my bream rod in the water) i grabbed my rod and what ever it was spat the bait after stripping 20 or 30 metres of 15lbs line off my bait runner. i pulled up the bait and it had been smashed so i put a fresh one out and went back to catching bait and after a few more i felt something heavier on the line and landed a 30cm flounder. about an hour later and many under sized snapper and lizard fish my big rod went off again this time i didnt waste anytime setting the hook but it didnt slow down and went under the bridge and rubbed me off on a pilon. this is about when i decided to call it a day and headed home. flounder painted lizardfish
  13. nice mixed bag you got there mate. its amazing the amount of different sea life in the harbour at the moment, the other day standing at manly whalf looking down at some nice sized bream and surgeons (no rod and its no fishing) a seal swam past and just started playing around in the water around the whalf.
  14. this is a mean looking fish and you wouldnt want to kiss a tailor like this either
  15. nice work, the first always brings a smile
  16. yer mate you can get whiting on lures. ive caught a few on SPs but you can get them on small hardbodies, poppers or blades. gotta hate those tinny snapper. exibit A. swollowed a 2" swimming mullet whole, its was even further day his throat before i got the photo.
  17. thats a monster, good live bait for a sperm whale. yer the colossal squid is GIANT nearly 500kg thats bait for the next few years. Scientists in New Zealand last month defrosted the 495kg colossal squid and determined it was 4.2 metres long, much shorter than earlier predictions of eight to 10 metres. here the link for that one
  18. nice fish mate. thats a good idea to have to throw them back at 70cm keep alot more breeders alive.
  19. good shots mate, its amazing they have built a tank big enough to hold a whale shark. yer i know when i was fishing in borneo the guy said we need to catch some tuna for bait i was getting excited when i saw birds and the surface boliing then he handed me a bait jig i casted in and came back with yellow tail, know to them as tuna as well as bonito, queenfish, and tinny long tail tuna all became live bait for barracuda.
  20. at least you got out on the water mate. yer seeing whales up close is an amazing sight. and i wish that QLD didnt pay off the ref. EIGHT major mistakes came out in the paper today, serveral which leaded to tryes.
  21. i keen for the attack on the jackets, a whalf down the road from me that i fish at a lot is infested with them have got a anything else there is ages even on harbodies cos the jackets surround them and attack them nother else can get close.
  22. mate its better then catching nothing and you get a laugh out of it. it kindas looks like it could be a slimey. i had a laugh when i pulled this flatty up on a 2" plastic, i think he went about 10cm
  23. mate nice work, and yer that snapper is a seriously solid fish.
