  1. I eat them raw and they're pretty good, I don't particularly like them cooked. Definitely need to be bled and iced straight away or they're rubbish. Cheers Tony
  2. I'm starting to realise the further you immerse yourself in fishing for mulloway the further you slip towards permanent and serious psychosis... Always good for a laugh though Bad luck on the lost fish humesy but I reckon there's another one with your name on it just round the corner.. Cheers Tony
  3. Great report as always Roberta... I'm no expert, but I'd call the cobe for 18lbs rather than kg's... Cheers Tony
  4. That's really good info pacemode! Thanks for that, a lot of other people tend to think the same way in relation to fish travelling, what you catch and release in botany might end up in the hawkesbury a couple of days later... Always interesting to hear people's opinions on this stuff... Cheers Tony
  5. This was partially covered in another recent topic by roosterman... I'll have a look for the link. To be honest I'm of the opinion if you have to ask the question it's probably not worth it. Cheers Tony EDIT: Here you go- http://fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=30715
  6. Slinky- from what everyone has said and having put a few different reels I have on this rod I think the 4000 is definitely the go in terms of balance/comfort etc... The stradic 2500 I have probably has more drag than I would ever require out of such a small reel. I'm assuming the 4000 will have more than enough guts as I rarely, if ever, lock up on a fish. Caranx- Thanks mate, a stradic 4000fi for 160US delivered is hard to go past, I tend to prefer shimano stuff anyway In terms of the older FH vs FI models, I've used both and the newer model is markedly better than the previous, not to mention it looks a whole lot better... Thanks again for the advice guys. Cheers Tony
  7. You'll get there Byron... Another vote for the bad back over here.... Cheers Tony
  8. Thanks for the advice guys... It was actually one of the boys at go-fish that suggested I look at matching it up with the 6000 and 8000... I originally had it in my head that I was going for a 4000 or 5000 size reel because I don't know if I'm going to need the extra line capacity, I've never come close to being spooled yet. But now you've got me thinking RE weight etc... I think I might have to do as you've suggested and try a couple of options in-store. Caranx- what's a capricorn J worth? Cheers Tony
  9. Another great jew there pacemode... You've got em wired! Cheers Tony
  10. Count me in as soon as it's confirmed I have no problems getting time off work, especially to go fishing. Cheers Tony
  11. Nice squid there Roberta and a good report as always... I've just bought a yak so hopefully I'll be posting up some reports soon too. Cheers Tony
  12. Hi Raiders I'm looking at buying a Stradic to match up to a 7'6" snapper raider 5-8kg... I can't decide between the 6000 and the 8000, they cost the same amount but I'm not sure which will be better suited for what I'm doing. They've got the same gear ratio, same line retrieval, the 6000 weighs 14 grams more (?) and the 8000 will take another 80 yards of line. Primarily this combo will be used for chucking big plastics at jew/kings/snapper etc... I'll be using 15 and 20lb braid. Has anyone got any suggestions as to which reel would be better and why? Cheers Tony
  13. Nice report buddy... Sounds like some fairly constant action was had, can't complain! Cheers Tony
  14. Wicked fish mate... Like Chris I've love to know what they weigh... Cheers Tony
  15. I just ordered a new Stradic 2500 to replace the one that got stolen... $163 US delivered to my door. Now I just have to wait Cheers Tony
  16. I just ordered a replacement Stradic and Sahara from the states... Under 250 bucks for both reels including delivery = Check out Basspro. Cheers Tony
  17. Yep my money is on either squid or cuttle for the bait thief... Nice calamari there too mate... Cheers Tony
  18. Bob that's a really nice gesture mate, you're a good bloke, but I'm not going to take your money... Thanks for the offer but I'll just put my head down and start saving up for the replacements... If anyone's got a graphite spin stick or two around 7' that they want to sell let me know Cheers Tony
  19. Good report mate! It's hard to be certain from the pic but I'd call them for duskies... Cheers Tony
  20. Great report mate, that's what I like to hear 92cm is a solid king too! Cheers Tony
  21. Good report Robee... As stewy said 41cm is certainly a nice fish... I like your boat too! Cheers Tony
  22. Great fin Dave... I hope you like sashimi! Cheers Tony
  23. Thanks again guys. At the end of the day the police took the attitude of you shouldn't have left it in there in the first place, you should have been insured, and 'your day can only get better from here mate'. I spoke to Steve before the police arrived and I wasn't convinced they would do much, unfortunately they confirmed this 100%, I really don't know why they bothered coming out. I'm sure they have worse things to worry about anyway. Now it's a mad rush to repair/ replace the interior in my car before rego is due in 2 weeks....pick n payless here I come. Tony
  24. Thanks for all the kind words guys, I really appreciate it. I live in west pymble, right next to macquarie park/ north ryde. As keen fishos like me you'd understand how much it hurts to have gear stolen that you've worked so hard to save up for and buy. Unfortunately the police really didn't seem to give a toss, and the car isn't insured, as it was out in the street home and contents insurance doesn't cover it. Just a bit of a kick in the teeth after having my tackle box stolen a month ago, ah well they'll get what's coming to them. Thanks again. Tony
