  1. In regards to fuel I suggest you avoid using Optimax as it only lasts six weeks before it begins to deteriate. Dont let it sit idle in tank for more than 4 weeks. Nothing wrong with fuel if you reguarly use it. It just doe`s not like sitting around in your tank for too long.
  2. ESKY. I normally fish that area as my first choice but there were some dredge type boats anchored in that area on WED so kept away. I love fishing that area at night weather permitting. Can be a bit annoying with throwbacks at times. Thanks for the advice. My boat is an old Dehavilland (it is old) Will see each other out therein the future.
  3. Hit the bay around 9am and headed to Molinaux Pt Set out a solid burley trail. After 3 hours of solid fishing 3 Port Jackson sharks and 8 small trevs. Very slow going. Wind picked up so went home. Bait: Pilchards, cooked banana prawns, green prawns(garlic)
  4. I use them all the time and find them equal to green prawns. Will be using them tomorrow on the bay along with whitebait green prawns(marinated) and slimey mackeral and squid. I buy green banana prawns from markets and lightly cook them in garlic. DONT GO WITH OUT THEM.
  5. Top catch twin (1) You picked a pretty cold night. You deserve all you catch. Hey stefan, way back in the 70`s I made a wind protector from canvas that I stuck up on my tinny. Two solid pieces of timber with a length of canvas fitted to each end and then stuck in two rod holders that were fitted to the boat. Kept the wind off you and the chill factor down. B` cold but when you had to move. Also had a smaller one for the bow of the boat. Easily rolled up. Just like the prawn drag net but with out holes. They were the days of hair tail fishing.
  6. No fish caught by the fishing club. They enjoyed a cold night out.
  7. You can try reducing the burly to a trickle to create a bit of competition for the feed.
  8. Team up together and you may be able to squeeze a better deal. Generally very little savings are made. As you know its handy to check out and compare what your interested in under one roof. I won`t be going.
  9. Hope you cook your jackets in their skin. Skin peels off very easy when ready. When cleaning your fishing knives or bait boards etc use their skin. Top scourer.

    Flooring

Checker plate is real good but maybe tricky to install and will need to be painted a dull color due to glare. The floor will get hot in the day so you will have to think about what to do there. It will also be slippery so again that must be looked at.Remember be careful what you do as you can make your floor quite dangerous. Definitely use marine ply if you use timber and give it a good coating of paint. Easier to work with. the rubber type of paint sounds good. There is heaps of good advice on Fish Raider from those that have done their boat up. Check them out. I am sure they will help you out.
  11. I suggest you look at going to Darwin for your first adventure and book one of the many charters available. There is plenty of good fishing out of Darwin and not too far to travel off shore. Plenty of hire boats if you want to go it alone. One reason I say Darwin is it is easy to get too. Just one plane trip. In regards to taking your tackle you can send it ahead by Courier and take as much as you want and the same coming home.Less clothing to pack as life style is very simple with plenty to do socially. Where ever you choose to go T suggest you send your tackle ahead of you by a trusted courier. IMO it reduces the chance of your tackle going astray and you can take a lot more. It takes a lot of worry out of your travel and you can move more freely. For your first of many keep it simple as you will be bitten by the greatness of the trip.
  12. Try using a electric toothbrush to clean your runners with the polish as well as the reels.
  13. Ten years ago I bought a new trailer and against all the advice and before using it I painted the galvanised trailer. I used a metal undercoat and then painted it with metal paint. High gloss was used. What I found was salt etc easily washed off after a good hose. I soaked the springs in citronella oil and would regularly spray them with lanolin oil/vegetable oil. It is not uncommon for me to think outside the circle/norm and be different. IMO I believe this action kept my trailer in tip top condition. I would definitely do it again but do a much better job and not miss any spots. I would also go around and change all bolts /nuts etc to stainless if it did not cause electrolises etc.
  14. My wife is Japanese and I have had a lot of very cheap lures, line and all types of gear sent to me and for the price is very good value and quality. I was extremely surprised but you do have to be careful. Two reels without a brand on it were of excellent quality. Go for it buddy. My tackle came from Sapora.
  15. Hats off to two keen fishos. You deserved better results for working so hard and tolerating the the extremes. Hope your luck is a lot better next time. Like your boat.
  16. Great to hear you got on to A good session of blurters. Better still the bay is fired up with my winter favorites.
  17. Temperature wise this time of the year will be in the thirty`s. Absolutely beautiful . you wonder why you dont live up hear permanently. The fishing in close is not good and the wind can really blow but plenty of places to escape. The motor cruiser IMO is the way to go. I have done four trips to the area this time of the year and have found the wind a problem. They dont tell you about that bit. I am also disappointed with the fishing with only small wahou and reef fish caught. How ever it is a great place and thats why I have been there four times. I just love the weather. Great fish and chips and the people are great.
  18. Hope this does not sound stupid but could you customise a chair bought from a retail shop(house, bar stool) that caught your eye.
  19. Since netting has been banned in this area the size of fish and the variety you can catch in that area has improved out of site. It will become a hot spot if it is not now. Once the road works is finished it will get very crowded in summer as it is very protected. Great catch and its good to see you have a keen partner to share great times. Hope you continue to build on your catch.
  20. Could I please get your contact number so I can contact you to retrieve the next anchor I get stuck. You can keep the anchor but not the chain and any other item you find. The way things are I am afraid I might get booked for poluting the water for all the chain and anchors I have lost in that area. A bottle of your favorite spirit will await you once you are back on board mixed with a hot cup of black coffee. Cheers and next time could you please take a video on how it was done for OH&S reasons.
  21. Cungee I guess you never met this guy again. It is extremely toxic.I doubt he got the to go fishing again.
  22. I am surprised you have not caught whiting before. They have grown up a lot in the last six years and you can look forward to many more. I lived in the area for a number of years and caught many under size ones from the island and HALF moon BAY ON NIPPERS. Since the netting has finished this area has really come good with a number of my friends catching good legal size bream, flathead and whiting. Before the new bridge work had stated you could catch a good feed below the pool bobby corking (Five Dock) side.Nippers. Good to see your having some luck. Its a great place to relax
  23. Georgous What are you calling it.
