  1. Glad you were rewarded for your effort. It is not hard to lose your direction in that area in the dark. Good news that the hairtail were not shy of the wire. You gave everyone a good little tip about the lumo bead. Hope your luck continues.
  2. Not crazy just keen IMO In regardsto the yakkas being to big , they are a great size to butterfly and cast out unweighted. If I was a bit younger I would have gone myself. Think I might go tomorrow. Good thing about this weather is NO CROWDS.
  3. PRICELESS. I envy a person who can do what you do. Hope you catch heaps of fish. I am sure you will . With the nets gone it is a great area to live in.
  4. Good to hear you were rewarded for your effort considering how cold it was. Could you tell all raiders how you withstood the conditions. Very curious.
  5. RE hairtail in fish shops. Hairtail are found in the waters off China, so might explain why you may see them. They are always frozen.
  6. Don`t want to sound a smart -------, but I used ear muffs on my boat to deafen the noise. Worked real well. Just a thought you might consider. I know what you mean by the noise.
  7. Great job You answered a few questions I had about removing seats. Glad you had a good start to your fishing. You seem to have a good knowledge of the area. Looking forward to hearing more great catches.
  8. Not actually answering your question but if you are able to remove the fuel from your tank without much hassle why not put it into your car if possible. When I had my boat I often did this and had no problems with the running of my car. The bit of oil that was in the petrol did not effect my car one bit. I would time it when I was filling up. It was easy for me as I had portable tanks. Even today I worry about what the quality of the fuel I am buying for my car regardless of where I buy it.
  9. Great little spot to relax and calm the nerves. I have done a bit of fishing there over the last 12 months for moderate success so you have done well. Not been there for a while now. I often come home with a few extra hooks. sinkers and braid that has been discarded. I wish those that litter the place would clean up. I take a bucket of soap and water to clean the table you use as it is embarrassing at times and I get a few dirty looks. Caught a huge Muddy there one day , thought it was a branch. Lost it at the shore. Normally fish week days when I go. Mon or Tuesday. Watch out for the rowers in the early morn.
  10. You cant beat nippers for a good feed of fish. Nice catch and good to see that you move around.
  11. Try a boat shed in the COMO area. Also some boat yards often have a boat or two. Gumtree web site is a good start.
  12. Keep the spots to your self for the next BREAM COMP and be the first raider to win first prize. great catch.
  13. That kingy reminds me of the early 80`s at the peak or at Lord Howe island. Bring it on and well done of the capture
  14. Anti theft devices used for cars can be used on boats. Also home alarm systems can be used also on your boat. Make some enquiries with a an Alarm System CO, They are full of very good advice. Anti theft tracking devices can be fitted. DYOR and you will be surprised at what is available.
  15. We might need a lost and found section the way we are losing gear. Fishos please note and return to owner if found. Grips that is.
  16. Like all of us we do it JUST IN CASE. Enjoy the pleasure you will have and the fishing will be interesting once the rivers settle down.
  17. My wife just returned from Japan and brought back a stack of bream whiting etc lures for the second time. They are top quality and dirt cheap. She knows very little about what she bought. Check the markets out. She bought them in Sapporo. Could not believe she bought more fishing lures as I have soooooo many already. She said they look pretty.
  18. A pity you did not take a photo of who you thought the culprits were. Then post it all over the Boat ramp saying why. This happened once at another ramp with a message return stolen items or these pictures will continue until I get my gear back. He gave a tackle shop as a address for obvious reasons and he got his items back.
  19. I go back to the late 70`s and early 80`s and yarra was the top spot. The dredging etc has not effected this area. Note there are other areas in Yarra you can catch yakkas with a bit of burley. Even potato will bring them around.
  20. Great to see kids enjoying themselves with their dad and catching a few . We should send all these happy snaps to our green politicians showing them how cruel and out of touch with society they are. and ask them why they want to spoil a day out with their dad.
  21. I fished from a boat that had the same floor and problem. It is very glairy but the floor got very hot in summer so we he simply cut out a piece of ply to fit neatly over the plate and after each trip removed it to wash the boat out. He also used carpet (out door) with rubber backing again fitted to the shape of the floor over the plate. When bream fishing etc and you dont want to make a lot of noise this helped alot. Sinkers etc make a heck of a noise as you are aware bouncing around the boat. It can also be quite slippery when wet so be carefull about what foot wear you use especially if children are on board. If I read your post wrong sorry but Thinking back on what I said I should have given more detail. You will find the boat quite different with the new floor. There will be no spring or flex. Cheers and hope you catch plenty of fish this summer.
  22. Why not put some carpet over it.(old stuff) Or paint it, A piece of ply is another option
  23. Kosta The latest el cheapo sounders at $150 will help you a lot in what you want to do. I think they are good value. Just my opinion. Like the others said it is not to difficult. Take the advice and go out with some one experienced. I agree it is better inside at the moment.
  24. Kingfish as you are now aware are very finicky. If they dont bite just try letting your rig just sit there. Let it float around and dont touch your line. They are like cats and will play with a bait. I found using the heads of Big king prawns(cooked) worked for me. I also like to use fillets of Bonito or similar fish. Also stop the burly trail if you have them in your fish zone. Just the odd piece or two to keep them there. Also leave your real in free spool.
  25. If you go to pier three Walsh Bay you will see how clean they are down there. One person brings a scrubbing brush and washes down the place. It just makes you want to keep it clean. He does it during the whole time he is there. It is disgusting how others leave it at night so this lovely group of people clean it before they start fishing. Hope they dont shut it down.
