Never heard of the Hybrids mate. Great thats all i need more possibilities to confuse me U probably are right u know. Its just that fish camoflage really well and it hard tp pick. I didny know the butchers came up as far as the south coast! I suppose anything is possible

Hi Raiders, Kevvie here and in need. I have a good mate wanting to take me out on his rig this weekend to chase Pelagics outside the Harbour. Problem is im no real lover of this style of fishing and sorta hate trolling around all day for no result. He seems to think it will be a hit and miss affair which doesnt fill me with any confidence. Can u members please assist. I wanna go but i need a game plan to work with. Is there any surface activity ATM, have the sambos come in to the Harbour yet?, Is it a better option to out through Botany? Any help would be appreciated!

The sambos were there alright. But u shoulda been flicking lures off Brighton Beach not the breakwall. We got 9 sambos on the beach that morning.

I'm still not convinced the Bream is a Black Bream here boys. My hunch is that is a discoloued YF Bream from years up river. I have this dilemma on a constant basis from Bream i catch from Berowra. All the Bream i get are black as the Ace of Spades and i swore that they were Blackies. A local told me how to spot the difference and proved to me they were in fact YF Bream. The spike on the anal fin on Blacks is shorter than the spike on YF's which is about the same length as the anal fin itself. By the look of these pics i would hazard a guess at YF's IMO.

I have caught flatties off Patonga with the Mantis in thier guts. It seems a regular occurance. Add to this a few landbased jew i have caught with them in thier guts too from Sydney Harbour. I have foul hooked a Mantis at Woolwich wharf one night and a local jew gun almost mobbed me for it to use as bait, almost garunteeing it would catch a jew. Apparently theres a shale bed 30-40m in front of the wharf and the jew come in to forage on the shrimp at night. They must be gun bait or we wouldnt find em in the belly of so many fish i guess!
