  1. That water looks inviting
  2. i must agree too. Gotta have that extra protection from abrasion.
  3. A reel such as the one mentioned definately needs to be matched up to a graphite blank. There are so many off the rack rods these days that custom built rods are superior for niche applications or experieced fishos who can tell the difference and justify the extra cost. BTW im not implying you are not experienced enuf or your fishing application is not a niche one. I am merely pointing out that there are a heap of good rods at very resonable prices that may save you a few bucks. Some of these include the new Steve Starling range from Shimano for eg.....

    What Knot

For Stickbaits a uni knot hinders action as does any knot which ties down snugly to the jig head. I prefer Lefty's Loop Knot or the Perfection Loop Knot. These give a much more eratic and natural action
  5. Just curiuos to know what culinary preferences raiders have in regards to favourite eating species. What is your favourite eating fish????? Ill start first. Mine has to be 'THE WHITING' (followed very closly by the humble flatty) Now over to you...
  6. ahhhh. Just finished off a half dozen Narra Whiting as we speak. Gotta love that taste
  7. Yeah your right. But thats what i love about the jew. The addiction....
  8. Thanks Kevvie. Excuse me for my ignorance, but what is the diff between a flathead fillet and it's tail? I thought they were mostly tail anyway? too true mate. The only difference is that the shoulder of the fillet has bones in it. Some bones in the lateral lines and some in the rib cage. As you would know the bones dont run all the way down the fillets. If you slice the fillets behind the bones you get a small boneless strip. Thats why they are expensive.
  9. The lake has had its day in the sun for this season. If i had a dollar for every whiting caught over the last few months in the lakes i wouldn't have to work for a while. Oooh what a sweet thought. Still good fish to be caught though.
  10. wicked mate. I'm heading there tomorrow. Ill post a report when i get back
  11. The question should not be what can u catch with these lures the question should be what can't you catch witht these lures. They really are that good. In order to get the most out of these lures you need to rig them on Finesse heads (bullet shaped heads)from squidgy, TT or Nitro. These make the best heads for this type of lure. Basically you need an assortment of weighted heads for different fishing applications. Deeper the water or stronger the current the heavier the head needs to be to get down to the strike zone. This lure has no inbuilt action so the shape of the head is what brings the lure to life as well as your flicking the rod tip eratically. Allow for pauses in between flicks as this when alot of fish commit themselves to the lure. Also work the lure slow when things are quiet or the fish are shut down. This is a trial and error technique and until you have put the hours in its hard to learn the nuances of this plastic by reading. You will develop a technique that you are confident in soon enuf. Hope this helps

    Asso Lines

Different lines for different situations. If you are using the line for lure fishing then fireline is the way to go. In fact i am usuing braid material for all my fishing these days. I just love the sesitivity and feel of the no stretch factor, fighting fish feels heaps better. I own 8lb Asso and use it as leader material and even then, to be honest, im not that thrilled by it. I prefer Sunline Basic FC for leader material. It's expensive but it's worth every cent. If you are using the line for bait fishing it should be ok.
  13. Well done on the dollie mate.
  14. Well done mate. I reckon that i was the most excited about catchin my first Bass than any other species. It's all up from here...
  15. I think every raider knows good old Ginrin. I will never look anywhere again. Period. I reckon you gotta go the saltist or Blast. As red said much better power than the Cap 4500J lacks. Not sure about he twin Power but.
  16. Seems like the whole lake is firing atm. Im going....
  17. Bloody nice fish there Rbta. That size range is my favourite eating size. Just in regards to the sp's. I firmly believe that to be successful you have to take lures out only. That is if you are a dedicated bait fisho wishing to make the transition into lures. I came from that stable and only made real progress by giving myself no other options but to keep flickin. Once again well done and i cant wait to come up your way for some exploring
  18. Nice one mate. Persistance pays.
  19. Thats bloody right isnt it. Idiots like me spend an absolute fortune to catch fish of this quality and a bloke rocks up with a ***** outfit and some nippers and pulls one off the shore. You know what... more power to you mate. Just shows that its not all about the glitter.
  20. Nice one kingy. I gave Cliffo a go yesterday in our boat but had no luck. Seems like you went one better.
  21. Gr8 topic people. I organise my lures in much the same way as mottyman. The only difference is that i organise my HB's and SP's by types e.g. Box 1 is all 3'' atomic jerk shads, Box 2 is 3'' Berkley Bass Minnows, Box 3 Squidgy Wrigglers etc. There is usually enuf of a colour range to fill up a box this way. I noramlly have at least two packets of each colour in the box opened and back up packets in storage ready to go at home. This may sound a little unneccessary but believe me its a pain in the arse when you go to the tackle store to stock up and they out of the sp's you want to buy. This method eleviates the dilemma. All up i have a stack of tackle trays and just pick what trays to take based on the species i want to target. Simple.

    Bass Lures

I love using the feralcats... I love these little beauties. In top water lures i love the tiny torpedo (yes, in black)
