  1. Hi, It is a 30hp 2 stroke 97 Marathon, the plugs are NGK BP8H-N-10 .040 gap. The plugs look pretty dirty so will change those as one of the first precautions. Also measured the crank Battery and it only shows 10volts, maybe one of the cells is gone which could be causing problems? Thanks for all the advice, thats great. Dan
  2. Set off with anticipation of exploring the Hastings river this morning in the new(secondhand) boat. Arrive at the boat ramp about 7am got the boat in the water, pulled the crank handle and the motor wouldn't start, a few choice words and abuse at the motor but still didn't make a difference to it, waited around about 30 minutes hoping it would start but nope. Loaded the boat back on the car, got home and cleaned the spark plugs up and motor started. So off I went to North Haven as this was closer than the Hastings, headed up river to Watson Taylor lake and sat the for a while for a few small bream. Tried to crank the motor, again won't bloody start!, I was stuck and noone around in this part of the lake, so I start paddling with the single paddle against the wind and current, I was exhausted after 30 minutes, figured I would try to crank the motor over again, waddya know it started, thank #$%$ for that I thought. Moved back down stream and anchored near dunbogan bridge boat ramp as I didn't want to go home due to the motor and could paddle over to this ramp if need be. Rigged up a few live yabbies and managed some nice flathead, from the bridge, 3 in total good eating size. Tide changed decided to move, motor cranked over first time! Moved over to the inlet opposite North Haven boat ramp and fished the eddy, managed a few nice size bream and a whiting, largest going 35cm putting up a nice little fight. Was here for an hour or so and darkness started to fall so thought I better head in in case of further motor trouble, but the motor cranked first time again, I'll be buggered If I know what the story is with the motor. Bad start to the day, turned out OK.
  3. I have a new(second hand) boat with a 30hp 2 stroke motor on it and the first time I took it out the motor was starting all day no problems. Took it out this weekend got to the boat ramp and the thing wouldn't start up, so back home I went pulled the plugs out and cleaned em up a bit and the motor cranked over. Got on the water now and motor worked fine, stopped and fished for a while, the motor would not start again, couldn't get it going for the life of me. Tried cleaning the plugs no go, left it for a while and the motor started. Then it was starting all day no drama, but there was quite a bit of smoke each time it started. I am using a fuel to oil ration of 50:1, could these be the cause?, to much oil on the spark plugs? each time I pulled them out there was a bit on em. Any advice appreciated.. Dan
  4. Bunnings has s few different sizes.
  5. Went down to the local beach last night for a fish and had an OK session. Managed 3 Salmon, only keeping 1 to try in the smoker and also a couple legal bream, had to work a bit for the first salmon he made me chase him up river using the incoming tide to his full advantage.

    Pillies

Not trying to go off track, but what works better, cubing or trolling with live bait ?
  7. Now that they have opened the lake I decided to go have beach fishing session near the river mouth to see if there was anything about. Was a good couple hour session, getting busted off a couple times at the sinker which was kinda weird, could have been something attacking the swivels perhaps. Managed to get a few small Bream and bagged out on legals biggest going about 36cm Dan

    Line Spooler..

Thanks Watto, I'll take the bent over one, how do I arrange payment and delivery? Dan
  10. Hi, Any site sponsors sell line spoolers?, if so how much and how much postage to 2445? Thanks Dan
  11. As far as I know the line needs to come off in the opposite direction to what it was put on the initial spool it comes on. For example if it is on the spool clock wise, you need to have it unwinding counter clockwise. Dan

    Kingy Outfit

Heyas, I am looking at getting a combo for Kingies but am on a budget and have been looking at a Penn combo such as the 330 GTi http://www.pennreels.com/01_products...s/gtcombos.htm which retails for about $200 and was going to load it up with 24kg mono. Would anyone happen to know what sort of drag pressure you can put out on the reel? Is 24kg Overkill? Would you have any other suggestions on a combo for $200. Thanks Dan
  13. They just want to see that you do actually have a fishing license, so you will fax it and that will pretty much be the end of it. If the receipt date is after the date he inspected you though I would imagine a fine would be issued. Dan
  14. Its a pain having to wait for the camera, they aer not yet on the shelves, Mid July they are expected, so still some time to make your decision.
  15. Hope you had some better luck than me on the Rocks, there was not much about on the North Wall this arvo was there from about 1330 until 1730, a couple people got some Bream that was about it, nothing to rave about. Dan
  16. I am ordering a Pentax Optio W30, they are a bit cheaper than the Olympus MJUs and from the reviews seem a little better. check out http://www.dpreview.com Dan
  17. Thanks, might go for a walk and check it out, do you access it from the beach there?
  18. Thanks All, KINGvirgin I have heard that Point Perpendicualr is a good spot to fish, but it wasnt all that accessible? Royboy The gars stay on much better than the pillies, can get multiple casts out of them with the thing ripping apart, the flesh is much firmer. Marlin_dc Hi Marlin, yeah, we should catch up for a fish for sure, let me know when you have some spare time and we will hook up, either from Kayak or wall, or wherever. BTW, I think I saw you the other day in the torrential rain on Lake Road looking at some potholes that the construction was causing? Gohardorgohome Not unweighted, 30lb line with a bean sinker and 30cm trace
  19. Had a day off today and decided to hit Port Macquarie break wall for a fish for the first time, was also my first time fishing a break wall. Picked up some hooks and some garfish from my local tackle shop and off I went. Rigged up a gar and within the first 10 minutes I was on with a nice 50cm + Tailor, hoiked him up over the wall and it was landed. Managed another 3 in the next hour or so and then it went quiet, although there were stilll some out there just not feeding as well as they were. Good session for a couple hours and first time on a break wall.:Tumb up: These will be going in the smoker. Dan
  20. Hi, I was given this reel Mitchell Full Runner 7500 Pro by someone who doesn't really do much fishing and I can't seem to find much information on it other than it looks like a good reel. Would anyone know what line capacity I could use on it, was thinking of using for live baiting from a boat for Kings or Cobia, maybe spooling it up with 30lb, or can/should I go heavier. What sort of rod could it be matched up to given it is quite large? Thanks Dan
  21. Met up with Sean@Crescent this morning 7am for a fish up the Maclaey and Belmont(I think) Had a few follows from under some boats on hardbodys but nothing hooked up. We paddled further and came to nice eddy the water was swirling and the depth went from about 4 meters to 11 metres, looks like a good Jewie hole, unfortunately I didn't have anything that could get down to the bottom, although the sounder was showing fish. Had a few casts in the swirl for nothing then a cast right on the edge and wham! the 6lb line took off screaming pulling me and the kayak toward the shorline, after a short tussle a nice bass came to the surface, approx 35 to the fork. Had a few more casts and then we moved on, got another couple bream further up and a few lost. Good day and nice spot. Dan NB: Photos Taken By Sean Larkan
  22. Dunbogan that is, what a top days fishing. Got on the water about 10am for a gentlemens start, paddled over the breakwall for a few tries, no good. Thought I would try a different route this time and paddle up toward googleys lagoon. Turned out to be a good idea, seemed to be getting fish everywhere I cast, first couple fish where flathead, then cast at the oyster leases and was getting almost a bream per cast and all legal. All up I think I got about 12 legal bream, was a top session. Few pics, click to enlarge.. Dan
  23. As expected from Harvey Norman or its Sister Store Domayne. I pulled out of a purchase from Domayne and the sales rep phoned me on my mobile and abused me! Needless to say I shop at neither of these stores now Dan
