  4. Grr ! So Angry & Upset that I couldn't go in the comp this year . I've been in it for the past 3 years . It's one of the best weekends I have with dad . But He's sick of paying so much money for a house boat & All the other expenses that go with it , To never catch a fish to even weigh in But it's a great weekend for me even if we're not catching fish . Nothing beats being out on the water . Daymm ! & The worse part is that it is only a once-a-year thing . Something I look forward to every year ! Oh . By the way . I am only 15 , Otherwise I'd go out by myself If I was older or I'd go halves with Dad with the money .
  5. My Uncle says they're great eating . He absolutely loves them . Cheers , Rhys
  6. Great catch . Some real decent flatties there . Harrington is such a nice place . I was up there last year , stayed at the Big 4 . Very friendly people too . Cheers , Rhys

  8. They've spoke to my Dad before , only happened once or twice .
  9. Hi Ritchie . Some magnificant looking bream there . Those two blue swimmers are quite big . Good on you for turning them annoying catties into something with a bit of decency . Cheers , Rhys
  10. Hi steve . The beach at Patonga is good for flatties when we are drifting in a boat . So you could give the beach a try , you might get some whiting or flatties there . Also there are some other spots i've heard about you might want to give a try . Anywhere around these black spots should be ok . Goodluck with it . Cheers , Rhys
  11. Hi everyone . Im hoping to get out for a fish , but im just wondering where to go ? Do I go to Hawks or Apple tree bay / Bobbin head ? We will be landbased , & would like to be targetting Flathead , Whiting , & Bream . Also what bait do we go for ? What are the fish going for at the moment , Plastics , Prawns , Squid , etc . Thanking everyone in advance . Cheers , Rhys
  12. Hi Brfo . I haven't actually witnessed a capsizing , but while I was down Wingdang last week , we were fishing Lake Illawarra . We finished our session and thought we might head back to our uncles , when all of a sudden the big Ambulance helipcopter lands in a Park . We packed the boat up and drove over & went to check it out , couldn't see what had happened . We spoke to our uncles mate who lives across the road from the lake and he said that a boat trying to cross the bar had a wave roll right over the back of it , and then it all went bad from there. Anyway , I'm not sure if this information is correct or not , but it does sound true , considering we walked out on the brake wall a night or two before and saw how dangerous it looked. From what we were told , most people just drive out to Shellharbour and go out from there. Anyone else hear about it or see it ? It would be good if someone could clear it up for me . Cheers , Rhys
  13. Hey Guys. Yeh , I saw that one on the news. Gee these Sharks are everywhere at the moment . That's abit scary considering I was down there last week from Sunday till Wednesday . We were prawning in the main channel , & were going to go up to the bridge , but didn't . Not saying it was there then , but you never know . How's your mate going ' Little Noah ' ? Hope he's Ok . Cheers , Rhys
  14. Hi everyone . Just got back at 10:00 tonight from the Sydney Harbour bridge climb . Absolutely amazing fun , & I must say our group leader was very knowledgeable , & you learn abit while your up there about the bridge. Beautiful views , & can't forget the beautiful sunset . Anyone else done it ? If you haven't you should give it ago. Cheers , Rhys
  15. Congratulations on that Breambo there . Isn't he a nice looking fish Cheers , Rhys
  16. Hi everyone . Packed our bags on Sunday and headed down to Wingdang ( Mt Warigal ) to stay at our uncles at about 2.00 that afternoon . So on our first day ( Monday ) , we woke up at 6.20 to hook the boat on and leave for the water . After our brekky , headed 5 minutes down the road to lake illawarra . We made a quick stop to Deans bait and tackle . Picked up some fresh prawns and live beach worms . Put the boat in across the road from the new Boat hire shop (BOAB) , and headed out to our destination . After we reached our destination we done a few drifts . Two under size bream and a whiting just illegal caught by me. Both my uncle and dad caught a couple of whiting too , all undersized. Then my dad pulls in a nice 31cm flounder . After the spot went quiet we decided to do a different drift . On our first Drift , we're drifting between the main channel when we nearly drifted into a boat nearby when my Dad pulls in a nice 48cm flattie . Drifted it a few times , but to many snags on the bottom on oysters . So we pulled in and went over to another channel , just as we get a call from home asking how long we'll be both my Dad and Uncle both get hook - ups . Pulling in 2 nice flatties. My Dad's one measuring in at 50cm , and my uncles at 56cm . There were 3 more nice sized flatties hooked on SP's , but they spat it when they hit the surface . By the way , my Dad got his first fish on SP's , coming in to be one of his PB flatties , of 50cm. To sum it all up , we had a top day on the water , with some nice fish being caught , and plenty of activity throughout the lake. Cheers , Rhys
  17. Congratulations on that nice 40cm Flattie there Keith. Nice Bream also for you to Roberta . Hope you and your family had a great Christmas . Cheers , Rhys
  18. Hi Davemmm . I'm heading down to Windang tomorrow , and will be fishing lake illawarra myself. I'll be going from tomorrow which is the 4th till the 7th . Pm me before the 7th so i remember , to tell you what ramp we will be putting in at , and I'll try to give you some spots . But it will be hard for me as I've never been there myself , well at least since i was little . I think I'll also be doing abit of beach fishing and prawning so I'll let you know how they go. Anyway , I hope I go well with the fishing so I'll be able to come back with a good report + some spots for you. Cheers , Rhys

  21. What a great haul you got there. Beautiful looking fish too. Some wonderful Whiting there. Are you planning on eating the prawns or using them as fresh bait? Cheers , Rhys
  22. Hi Cib Below I have attached two maps of the two spots i have caught yakkas in . I have only gone for yakkas here once , and it did OK . I would prefer my second spot , which is more reliable , and faster. This one here is always on fire. I have never been to this spot and never seen less then 10 boats here. Bit of berley , and watch them all come up . I've also caught a few nice trevally here. Anyway good luck with it. Cheers , Rhys
  23. Beautiful looking bream you got yourself there. Congratulations Cheers, Rhys
  24. What a great sized backie you got yourself there. Congratulations on the PB. Cheers , Rhys
