  1. Words of wisdom, please take note, flexy ain't that great.
  2. Hey, cheers guys, did'nt see this until just now, thanks for that. Spent the day chasing Ferries and dodging Sailboats and jumping the swell through the heads on my thundercat, great day out, now I feel like I've been run over...lol Cheers, Tobe
  3. Hey Luke, it was south of the Canyons, water still reading 20 degrees, we thought we might be in with a chance of a late season Yellowfin as they travel together, oh well. Brickman, this is my first Alby too, stoked, awesome looking fish, heading straight down on the first run, great fun, see what the weathers doing friday and I might take my wee bertie out, not quite a brand spanking 40, but at least its mine....lol Cheers, Tobe
  4. What time were you out there? I was out with a mate in my Thundercat jumping the swells, there was about 300+ mutton birds going nuts, the whole harbour entrance was on fire, very tempted to go get my Bertram but we were having to much fun, great fun on light gear though. Cheers, Tobe
  5. Hi Raiders, went out on my mates new 40 Caribbean yesterday ( Spanish Fly ) chasing the warm currents. We left for Nora Canyons into a messy sea. After 2hrs of punching through the swell, we noticed an unknown seamount, rising from 1125m upto a peak of just over 700m. Had a few trolls over the peak for zero's, but will definately be coming back when the season is on. Trolled all day and swa nothing, no birds no baitfish, until it finally clicked 4pm, bit of a superstition amongst me and the boys, and sure enough the shotgun screamed off on the 15kg with a Melton Jet. After a short but fun battle, a nice 15kg Albacore was brought onboard, before we could even reset the spread, the shotgun goes off again, resulting in a wee Striped tuna about the same size as the lure, ballsy little bugger, so he went back. All in all a great day, and an amazing boat, had heavy spray going OVER the flybridge on the way back in. Hopefully not long now till the Bills start to show. (we were trying to get the first of the season) Cheers, Tobe
  6. Haha, no it was one of the very first game boats out of Hawaii, although I was talking to Peter last night at the SGFC.
  7. Cheers dude, always good to hear the Kingy's are back in the harbour. cheers, Tobe
  8. Haha, I was my outboard from my tender in the shower and my Marlin gear, works a treat, all my gear looks the same as when i bought it. Give it a go, it works. Cheers, Tobe
  9. haha it was called C Rats, bloody awful, changed it to Pakula Sunrise. Changed the name of my new boat too, it used to be called Marney, which means squat to me, so I changed that to Lil Pakula because its heaps bigger than my old boat....lol What you going to call your new one then? Cheers, Tobe
  10. Your lucky fisheries didn't stop you and claim it as marine reserve....... How long did it take, have to do my 25 Bertram next week? Cheers Tobe
  11. Guys be careful who you pin the blame on, I had a 21ft Marlin that was used a a refuse for every tom dick and harry that walked past. Even tore my controls off the cabin, but my neighbours were always the first to call when something happend. Parking boats on streets is a huge subject and I can only suggest befriending those around your area, everyone loves a fresh feed. Goodlick, Tobe
  12. I changed the name of mine, the old name was awful. Since then half of my trips out the heads are spent helping others with worse luck than me, oh, and we've caught heaps of fish. Upto you dude, I wouldn't be bothered. Cheers, Tobe
  13. Alloy ones are used by most of the 40ft plus game boats and are in a different league all together, but your looking at $10k for a set of Rupps, for smaller boats say upto 25ft I'd go two piece fibreglass, less flex and they don't slide down on themselves, if you have one piece and your on a trailer your going to struggle getting home under trees etc its a nightmare trying to find space to lay them down too, just a thought. Cheers Tobe
  14. Awesome rig dude, sounds killer, my mate tagged a 129kg Marlin last year on a 6500 baitrunner, still don't understand why people spends thousand of dollars on dogfights and saltigas, just learn how to fight a fish. Hope you enjoy your new setup. Cheers, Tobe
  15. Joe Yee appollo evil Top gun nightmare Top gun med plunger Pakula lumo sprocket all for the bills, killer vibe 200 for the tuna, best spread in the world, bar vegemite...lol
  16. Guy from my local game club tagged and released a 129kg marlin on a 6500, nuff said really. Cheers, Tobe
  17. Hey mate, its definately a blind shark, catch heaps inside pittwater mouth. Not sure about the eating qualities, I'd say it'd be pretty similar to Flake, as they say though, best check with fisheries first. Cheers, Tobe
  18. Sounds awesome, Id be well up for a trip that way, keep us posted. Cheers.
  19. Awesome fish dude, catch of a lifetime huh, well done, you must be stoked. Cheers, Tobe
  20. Hey Raiders, I have to do abit of work on my 25 Bertie and was wondering if anyone had a trailer I could use for a day, I have a mooring in Watsons Bay to put your boat on, willing to pay for the use, I just can't justify paying $300 just to pull my boat out at a marina. Please pm me if you can help, thanks in advance. Cheers, Tobe
  21. My god, now thats a fish. Bet your wife loved the fish in the bath...lol Heading out tomorrow so fingers crossed. Well done dude, thats a stonker.. Cheers, tobe
  22. Awesome dude, good to hear of the Fin finally, meant to be heading out on Sunday, weathers looking great for it, but I'll give you a call if I go saturday too for sure, call sign 'Lil Pakula' hope to see you out there and well done on a great fish.
  23. Hi mate, we we're up there last weekend, only fished for an hour as we were towing a boat down from Brisbane, but a big school of Bluefin came past and one of the guys hooked and landed a good 20+kg fish after a great 15min fight on 25lb mono. Fingers crossed for you dude. Cheers, Tobe
  24. ] What an amazing weekend for weather huh. Went out on a mates boat "Too Easy" on what looked like a lake, never seen it so calm. Headed straight out of the heads into some really green water, had a couple of knocks but no takers on the lures, the radio was going nuts with everyone calling in strikes and misses. Then the long corner went off with a little beauty 80kg Stripey, even though it was only small it stayed down for ages, got some pics of it on the run too. Hopefully next time we'll hook its big brother. Cheers, Tobe
  25. Mate I'd go with Jewgaffer on this one, it sounds like its cavitating, especially if it only does it on the plane. If it was the clutch it would slip out of the hole, thats were the prob meets with the most resistance. Also you might want to check your water pickups on the leg of your motor, if there is anything stuck to or in it can also cause cavitation, sounds weird I know but had it on a mates brand new Honda 15hp Four. Just my two bobs worth, whatever it is I hope you fix it. Cheers, Tobe
