  1. Now thats a fish, what was the 15kg you were using? must have been good stuff! Well done. Cheers, Tobe
  2. That really is a fantastic catch, well done. Sounds like you had an interesting morning to say the least, and now they're taking Flatties too huh, makes you wonder if they'll start taking yellowtail or squid jigs next..lol. I'll send you a pm, looking to get out in the harbour next week hopefully (if I get my boat back). Cheers, Tobe
  3. Well thats one of the most bizarre things I've seen for awhile, cool! Still glad the pooch stayed in the boat though. Cheers, Tobe
  4. Well if theres Bonito in the harbour, and the sheer amount of Kingies and Salmon around, you've got to expect predators to follow. I spearfish as well as boat fish and freedive almost every weekend, I'll tell you now, there's alot of sharks off Bondi, its just normal people don't see them, I've seen at least 30 this summer, never had a problem with them, but I never dive early morning or evening, thats asking for trouble. Cheers Tobe
  5. Awesome dude, well done, great too see Bonnys in the harbour always a good sign. Waiting to get my boat back next week then I'll be out chasing them too. Thats a funny colour isn't it or is it just me?? I've only ever seen them bright blue, nice looking fish either way. Top job. Cheers Tobe
  6. That looks more like a Sabre toothed trouser shark to me, lots of those found in summer along Bondi beach.......lol
  7. Gday shieldsy, Mate I haven't used a Penn slammer, but I fish for Kings regularly with a Baitrunner 4500 loaded with 20lb mono and 150m of PEX 50lb Braid, great setup and had some great Kingies, be hard pressed to fault it, unless your after bigger Kings, in which case get the 6500 with straight through 50lb Braid, you'll need it.... Cheers, Tobe
  8. Did anyone see the two guys WITHOUT a trailer at all at Rosebay boatramp on saturday. Somehow managed to fill their tinny with water so couldn't lift it into the back of the ute, which they'd parked on the ramp, so instead of turning it over (sensible option) they took the bung plug out, (not so sensible) it took over 35mins for it to drain, at which point they had been shouted at by virtually every single boatie waiting to get in and out of the water. Its utterly astounding sometimes just how dimwitted some people are, I for one can't wait for the new boat licence laws to kick in. Cheers, Tobe
  9. Fantastic report dude, sounds like an amazing trip, would love to know what was spooling you off the jetty huh. I think I'm going over with a mate later this season armed with Jigging Master Powerspell 400. Great fish and pics, well done....
  10. So do I, if the Bream don't go for it, I definately will.....
  11. Jesus, I'm almost to scared to hook a fish on the bugger now, but as I've already bought it I'll just have to take my chances, its in a spread of Sabre 15-24kgs and Pacific composite 15-24kgs and Backbone Elite, so it runs the smallest lure, just hope nothing too big hits it, fingers crossed I might be lucky and have a strong one from the factory. Was it an early batch that was weak maybe???? really hope so. If it does break I'm going all out and buying a Hots GT rod, I've actually been challenged to break one of these, gave it every ounce I had, its a strong rod..... Cheers, Tobe
  12. Its a Blue Morwong, usually found in slighly deeper waters around reefs, quite a nice fish to eat with a sweet and sour sauce. Cheers, Tobe
  13. Hi Astina, I used to live on Mactier st, the lake was at the end of my driveway. If you fish alongside the road there with chicken breast, you'll get some fantastic bream. Hope this helps abit. Goodluck. Tobe
  14. I got a 6lb one that screwed my Rapala and stuffed my leader, and they still taste like week old sashime, but a 100lb would be pretty intense.....
  15. Lets hope so as i just bought one.....lol I'm going to use it for big Kings and Sailfish/small marlin, I'm loading a 6007 Tica Sportera with 50lb braid to match. Already set the drag to 15kgs, the rods a 10-20kgs7'6" jigging rod, my god its got some balls. Was just wondering if any Raiders have some experience with these, already seen a video of an 86kg Marlin caught on one, can't wait. Cheers. T
  16. Awesome dude, well done, it is very satisfify to catch and land a Kingy on your own. Hope you have a great weekend and the fish keep on biting, will be out myself looking for a few Kings before heading out wide for Marlin etc. Great read, keep em coming. T.
  17. Mate, I bought a 9ft Viva rod and reel combo a few years back and its had some awesome fish. Its a Fiba fighter with an FB50 reel, its only rated at 1-4kg, but depends what your after really, never had any problems with it. Cheers. Tobe
  18. Top catch there dude, there'll be alot of Raiders hoping for that kind of a catch this weekend I'm sure. Well done, always good to have a backup plan huh! Cheers Tobe
  19. Hi guys, just wondering how much the hat, mat and stickers are, I'd be up for getting some for sure. Thanks Tobe
  20. Cheers dude, if you fancy a fish, lets head out soon, next weekend is looking good. You should get your boat in the water too, maybe have a beer down the london after huh? Tobe
  21. I'll tell you all.........on Monday...lol
  22. G'day all, Well I just couldn't resist it, being so close to the Kingfish social, and a million and one reports of Kingies everywhere, finished work early so straight to the boat. Had originally intended to go wide and troll for Dolphinfish or Marlin, that was scrubbed as soon as I got to the heads, blowing a hooley, so I thought might as well give a few spots in the harbour a bash. Only had the lures out for ten minutes, when the 15kg bent double, bugger! I honestly thought I'd hooked the bottom. Grabbed the rod and line was screaming off at a rather hasty pace. Got the missus to stop the boat, line was still screaming off..awesome we're on. After some bloody gigantic runs, and I'm talking good 150m runs, thing was bloody possessed or something, started gaining line, this was the first fish on the new rod and reel, great test for it. Now my girl is somewhat of a novice fishermen to say the least, and her english is pretty bad, combine that with the ramblings of an over-excited fishing junkie led to me having to wind in one rod in the holder, fight the fish with the other hand whilst trying to figure out how the hell I was going to land the thing on my own. So i just played it until it had absolutly nothing left, and then had a few feeble swings with the net( I was goosed by this time) but finally got it in. What a corker, best King I've had in the harbour so far. Now I'm really really excited about Sunday, I hope everyone has as much fun as i did today, fingers crossed the weather is alright and hope to meet a few of you there. Here's some pics of the Kingy......yip yip tootle fnar fnip. Cheers Tobe
  23. Hi guys, just thought I'd mention, if anyones looking for a downrigger weight and clip set I have one to give away, pulled it up with my anchor the other day, and being as I'm not into downrigging, might aswell give it to someone that will use it, I know there stupidly expensive so it'll make someones day. Cheers, Tobin
