  1. Mate, top job well done, I was out there later that afternoon so missed it. But its always great to hear of fellow boaties helping each other out, thankgod they were divers huh, at least they'd be fairly well prepared for going in the water. Cheers Tobe
  2. Not more than 3kms, doesn't seem to be that much around to wide unless you goto a FAD, I just knew there'd be fish in this area, already seen for a few days previous. Cheers Tobe
  3. Hi Jim, Well Nath was using an 85g Raider and I was on a 5" Rainbow coloured Dollie lure(surface fizzer) he was poo pooing my lure until it started getting hit every pass, always good to give something different a try I reckon, first time its got wet, so very happy with the results. Mike, its been really busy off Gordons Bay and Bondi, on the way back to the heads, we ran over a massive school, 40 birds working it, but they were heading towards the horizon, and with that storm front right behind us wasn't going to chance giving chase, tempting though, lets hope we get a calm arvo during the week, if so I'm off again. Cheers Tobe.
  4. What looked like being a really bad day, tyring to tie wind on leaders for an hour then finding i bought a dodgy line, then going to the car to find I'd got a ticket, almost didn't bother putting the boat in the water, thankfully I did. Even though the swell was picking up, my faith in my boat was running high, so i decided to troll wide outside the heads and head down south. I've been watching birds working the waters off Coogee and Bondi the last few days so my hopes were high. Sure enough after about 30mins the Marlin Brothers 30 starts screaming, awesome. After a small fight brought a 94cm King into the boat, thats dinner sorted, then Nath's rod goes off, hadn't got mine back in yet, another King comes on board. The fishfinder is showing a good school thats moving fast, so we kept turning and doing runs up and down, getting strikes every pass, this is what fishing is about...woohoo. We're heading up for another pass, the 30 screams again, Nath grabs it, forgets totally to set the lever and strikes mid air, you've never seen a birds nest quite like it, cost me around 250m of line..plonka. Just had to reel in over the top of the birds nest, a little rat comes over the side. We continued fishing this mad bite, as anyone would, I had to let my lure out again to get to the nest, then cut the line and handed it to my girlfriend to pull the lure back in, I'm sure you know whats coming, one minute she's pulling the line in, next thing she running to the back of the boat screaming her hands are getting cut, A King has smashed the lure as she was pulling it in, so gave it a wrap around the hitch on the side so she could pull it in, and bless her she did just that. I've got to tell you guys, its one of the best days fishing I've had in along time, kept a couple and let the rest go, didn't need anymore, what a fantastic day. Now I'm really looking forward to the Kingfish social..might even bring my secret weapon(the girlfriend)....lol Cheers Tobe
  5. Hey Baggin_out make sure you check the weather, meant to be a storm pushing in tomorrow, I'd be up for a troll round the island, there's been heaps of birds hitting massive schools off Bondi too, might see you off Coogee tomorrow. Tobe (Pakula Sunrise)
  6. Great report, makes me wish I'd taken my boat out today, nothing beats the feeling of a Marlin huh? Only ever caught them on friends boats, so hopefully this year I'll christen mine. Well done again, great day out. Cheers Tobe
  7. JESUS.....don't like the sound of that very much, makes you wonder what else is swimming around that they haven't found yet..oo-er! I do alot of spearfishing too, thankfully not up in Queensland though. Tobe
  8. Serves him right really, you'd think people would've learnt by now wouldn't you. Tobe
  9. Hi Jiggy, Ihad the same problem with my SP's getting chewed to bits by leathers, reckon its the artificial scent they put on them. Just out of interest I kept fishing with the half that was left, they ate it right down to a bare hook. Threw another out, retrieved it faster, we could see a school of around twenty chasing it like Piranaha's, quite spooky really. Tobe
  10. I think you guys are right re the smoked bit, came back from the harbour new years, was abit edgy. Only problem with trying to do it myself, or replace with glass is that its a curved screen, so it would have to be pre curved to fit, I think I'll take it out myself and just go round the local joints see if anyone can make one up, thanks for your help and advice. Tobe
  11. Count me in, I've been wondering about these too, hope you get a good catch, very interested to see how you go??? Tobe
  12. Hi Raiders, Just wondering if anyone knows of a good place to get some new smoked windows made up for my boat, I'm in the Eastern suburbs so anywhere within Sydney really, if anyone can recommend someone that would be great. Look forward to hearing from anyone, cheers. Tobe
  13. We're fishing with Nitro jigheads(3" Pogy Heads) 1/2 oz with a #4/0 hook white colour, seem great around the markers in Botony. Use 20lb mainline with a 40lb wind-on leader, you never know what your going to hook up too..
  14. Hey guys, the King I caught the other day had a stomach full of Yakkas, 4 to be precise, so they are definately still taking them, just thought you'd like to know. Tobe
  15. Awesome, well done, water looks a good colour too.. Tobe
  16. I'm in for sure, sounds great, will be plus one and have space for another couple. Thanks. Tobe
  17. Here's my dilemma now, everyone wants to go watch the fireworks tonight, I just want to go get more Kingies......lol
  18. Not very god with computers, but here's a pic of the Kingy..
  19. Was starting to get abit concerned about being the only one to miss the harbour Kings, Botony yes, harbour no. We were fishing the Old Wedding Cake at low tide with an incoming tide, had four small Bream rigs out with Slimey cubes as bait when my smallest outfit got bitten off, lost everything, only 6lb line(Leatherjackets), so swapped with my missus who was feathering up some livies with my 4500 Baitrunner and 20lb line. So sent out another bait on a dropper rig with 1/0 baitholder hook. Had a couple of little nibbles, then a proper bite, struck the hook home and the bloody thing went nuts, first thought was a big lizard, which soon disappeared when it took of for the heads, maybe a big Trevor, thats when I realised this thing was tearing 20lb line off and putting the biggest bend I'd ever seen in my Ugly Stik. Could it be the harbour's holy grail, shouted to my mate to grab the net as I pulled it into view, and a fantastic slab of silver glimmered beneath the waves, I could hardly believe it, then I remembered the iddy biddy little hook I was using....bugger! It then took off for the lighthouse, three times, trying to turn it with my hand on the spool without dislodging the hook, must've been devine intervention, because the hook held and we finally boated my first ever harbour King, on a Bream rig. High fives all round and an early New Year for me. I'm utterly stoked, hope you all have a fantastic New Year, and the fish keep biting, see you out there. Tobe
  20. Santa must've had a very long bag this year, got some new Black Pete outriggers, fully rigged and ready to go, just got to fit them now, can't wait. Tobe
  21. Wel I'm up for the 7" jerk shad, getting hit almost every cast with them (when the kings are there of course) great fun this SP stuff.
  22. Saw a huge school smashing the surface just inside middle head too, couldn't keep up with them though... tried poppers and slugs, no takers.
  23. Ah! really. I like the idea of that, would save me having to move it, and I'm a waterproofer so got heaps of sikaflex, never had a leak in my boat once
  24. Hotscotty, let me know how you go with those, just got some of the exact same ones delivered..crappy weather though.
