  1. Thanks for your comments and they are shared by many. As a health informatician who is on several working parties dealing with the privacy and security issues you mention I could answer most of your concerns, however this is not really the forum to do so. I will send you some links to do some research if you wish. Someone like you would be great on our Consumers Forums I was at a symposium just yesterday at the uni and the way our health information is going to be managed is quite different. It is already proven that outcomes of care are directly influenced by the efficiency in the management of the health data. The big difference will be that the person owns the data and controls who can access it. One has controls over viewing, editing etc The problems in our hospital system are largely due to lack of communication and as a nurse I can attest to that. So many times a patient comes in that is unable to give us a history. Access to their health histories gives us the clinicians all the clues we need to get the right treatment to them in a timely manner. Very soon you will be using e-prescriptions. You may go on a holiday to QLD and if you get sick the treating practitioner will pull up your details, make an e-prescription and away you go. When you return to Sydney and go to your favourite pharmacist, he will pull up your script and dispense it. This will also stop the doctor hoppers. This is the age of technology and yes, there is much work to be done. The young folk of today are already on this journey. For those of you that are ready, jump onboard and become informed. This post was made as a way of sharing information with others and not to provoke discussion really. It is very complex and best handled on other forums. If anyone would like to join those areas please pm me. Lets get back to fishing mrsswordfisherman
  2. There is a very good way to manage your health information. Try Google Health Sign up for a google account if you don't already have one and set up your personal health profile. You can add in conditions, medications, procedures, test results etc which can be printed out or shared online with your doctors or health care professionals. Most of us already manage our finances and other information electronically and the recent recommendations to the government on e health have directed that we will all have an electronic shared record within the next few years. Our personal identifier number will be issued next year. Try it out and save yourself lots of time when visiting a new doctor mrsswordfisherman
  3. Of course there will be hands on lessons for anyone who wishes to learn. That is what our socials aim to do - bring newbies and experienced fishos together to share information and techniques. If anyone else is interested let me know at registration and we will make it happen mrsswordfisherman

  9. Firstly the answer to your question is clearly available for all members in Site News and Info http://fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=26277 this explains the complaint mechanism. As a member who only joined us in Jan this year with 23 posts under your belt you have not been part of our community for very long at all. The forum is privately owned. It is not a public free for all and we have strict rules. It is moderated heavily and we have laws to comply with etc. We have a duty to act on members complaints. You stated "from what I see". This is a very important issue because it is only the admin and moderator that "sees" all. Whole threads and individual posts are removed before members see them at all. There is much history regarding some posts and threads and that info is only available to admin or mods. By definition controversy is about argument, disputation, quarrelling, fighting or striving against. Why on earth would we want a specific forum devoted to that????? Flaming and fighting does not lead to education in any way, shape or form. The education is provided here both online and offline via the links to statutory bodies and posts and the many days and evening sessions that we provide and organise for our members. Perhaps I should post up the many pm's we get about posts and members behaviour. The issues we deal with range from discrimination to family and friend infighting. There are people that are unscrupulous and attempt to use online forums to bring down businesses and persons and we get tipoffs. We get pm's about all sort of things and we act on them. It is "our house" and we invite people to join us in a place that they feel comfortable to post and exchange information and help others. We do not make anyone stay and if the way this forum is run is not to a person's liking then they can move on to another forum that is more suited to their needs. Finally bodyboarder, if you would like to take this issue offline then feel free to email to fishraider@iinet.net.au with any further concerns. We can call you directly to discuss if needed. Looking forward to reading your fishing posts. This post is now closed mrsswordfisherman Site Owner
  10. Nice work and thank you for sharing that with us all Marlin repellent Ensure your vessel is seaworthy would be a good idea. I have received 2 complaints from members regarding the "bad-mouthing" of law enforcement officers. These people have a job to do and this forum will not condone any derogatory comments being posted about the work they do. If you have any issues with "coppas" or others then go through the appropriate complaint mechanisms to complain. Remember that fishraider is a forum that encourages young folk and we need to show them good examples and not give them negative ideas. mrsswordfisherman
  11. Try something real different like getting up everyday and going to do an honest day's work like the rest of us I pity your new boss if you are already trying to wrangle sickies.............nah I won't go on. Seriously, as a boss I have heard some very, very good excuses over the years. One person's father died TWICE. Many return from sick leave with wonderful suntans (complete with panda eyes) during the ski season. When I was student nurse and if we called in with diarrhoea, we were made to come to staff sick bay and produce a specimen and we soon got better. Get to work scotty d and don't be an "ugly aussie" mrsswordie
  12. Beautiful little girl there! Well done to you all mrsswordie

  16. And here is a screenshot of that screen I mentioned where you will find the FISH ID selections. This is on the x135 but the operations should be somewhat similar. Menu ---- nav key down ---- sonar features ----- ent --- nav key right ---- unselect fish symbols ent ---- exit I am sure that you will figure it out from these descriptions from Rich and myself
  17. Hi rizzo Try getting the sensitivity screen up and selecting Sonar Features. On this screen you should find FISH ID. There are 2 boxes fish symbols and fish depths. Ensure that neither are selected and you should see arches displayed Have a look at this link to download the emulator for your sounder. I learned to work ours from there before we even had the unit! http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads/Product-Emulators/ Hope this helps mrsswordfisherman

  21. Swordie, Lucinda and I travelled up to sunny Qld to enjoy the festivities at Couran Point on Sth Stradbroke Island. Fishraider sponsored the Junior Flathead prize and we were hoping for the winner to be a keen young angler and we were not disappointed. Lolling around the pool the day before, 2 young chaps started up a conversation. It was clear that they were hoping for some great fishing in the tournament the next day. About 10am on tournament day, news of a junior weighing in a flathead came through and we raced to the weigh-in station to see that it was indeed the crew of 2 boys Liam, Logan and dad Dan that we had talked to the day before After a quick interview and some pics they went off to try their luck again. At 4pm the presentation took place. There were plenty of prizes on offer and as luck would have it Logan picked up the fishraider prize for a great flathead around 50cms Thanks to manager David Bradley and his staff that worked tirelessly to make the event a huge success. The Couran Point resort is very pleasant and the accommodation and surroundings are very comfortable. A great family holiday can be had there and we recommend it to all. Here are a few snaps of Logan, Liam, Dan and the resort. A short interview with the boys regarding the capture can be viewed here

  23. The swordies will see you there Slinky - good luck in the comp to you and Little Slinky We will be posting live reports and pics from Couran Point Cheers mrsswordfisherman
