  1. Looking to buy a New camera with the rudd payout. I want to start getting into the article side of fishing so a good digital SLR is needed. Recommendations?
  2. Good move! At times there is defiantly an art to fishing for bream, and light leaders I find are a must now! On flats I use 2-4lb fluro leader with 4lb braid. I only use hard bodys in shallow water (up to 20cm) so I will give you what tips I can there. You still have some surface time left so buy a Jackson t-pivot in the natural colour and the technique to this lure is small constant twitches so the lure bobs along the surface looking like it goes in and out of the water. if you get a rise stop the Lure and give it tiny twitches and then continue. Pause are around 5 secs and twitches a little faster than a second hand on a clock. same idea goes for poppers! Small divers, I like to fish them with a Slow roll sharp twitch and pause. Slow roll sharp twitch and pause Fast run and pause, pays to experiment. Fave lure is a Salmo Hornet for this, or sx40, fat one, I only use divers that sink very slow or sit in the water on a pause. Run in tides are best for me before the flats are covered (fishing edges) hope this helps a little..
  3. Cheers Roberta, I wish I had someone there to share the catch as well!!, Eps are a hard fish to nut out at times!!! The water here is doing 110% better after the rain we have had! the bream are average size they get a lot bugger early in the morning.. I LOVE yakkin its the best thing I have added to my fishing!! Your welcome down here any time, Will have to go your way as well some time when time allows it.
  4. in the last week I have had more time to get out in the Yak and target Bream and EPs around the Gosford end of Brisbane Waters on the Central Coast and thought I would put it into a report here. Day One, Went to a creek up this end at 12pm to have a stuff around out of boredom as I don't fish in the middle of the day for bream or EPs, To my surprise the bream were very active and ready to hit poppers on the surface, While the fish were not that of size that I normally catch on daybreak or sundown it was still a nice reward. First stop was a bridge loaded with a sinking Salmo hard body and first cast was attacked by a nice legal Bream! I hate catching fish on the first cast as it can only go downhill from there, The wind was up and this is not good in the yak so I went up the creek to a few snags that I know of on the way casting a Jackson t-pivot and the bream were loving it! and so was I! Again no big fish but a lot of fun. When I got to some sunken trees I changed to an sx40 and lost it to I swear the same bloody fish that gets me every time! So I put back on the Salmo and cleaned up with some nice plate size bream that I was after for dinner, so I went home and prepared my feast and think about the next mornings fish. Day Two, I went for Bream again early in the morning around the rail bridge and up the first part of Narara, Fishing was hard due to weed fouling lures every second cast, It was a run in tide and I had only landed One legal bream in about 2 hrs, I was changing lures to try and find what was working best but was finding it shut down as tight as a ducks ##$@.... I pulled the yak up onto a sandy flat as I wanted to inspect for flathead lays and was I surprised! there was some big holes from flathead in the past high tide!!! one that was over 2ft and a perfect shape of a FH fins and all. so i wrote that down on the list to go back on the high, but thats another report. so all I only a few small bream that morning so back home I went to prepare for the onslaught ahead! Night 3, Some of you might remember my Report on EPs last month, I decided to go back on the same moon tide faze and see how it went and to nut out if that last time was a fluke. so its 12am with the pressure up to 1025 I was itching at the bit to get out there. and hit up some EP,s I decided to split this into a land and Yak session, First half Land, Second half Yak.. Well well well, As soon as I turned up it was WWIII with the surface and I knew it was going to be a cracker of a night, The Perch were busting up on the surface sometimes three at a time, Anyway, Out with the Jackson B-Pivot(the big brother of the T-Pivot) in black and bang I was on. Just magic fishing, Light gear Night and Eps have taken over my bream obsession for now! The sound is thrilling as they abduct your lure off the surface!! After about 9 fish and a few photos I decided to jump in the yak and do it all again, So I positioned my yak, threw out a house brick as my anchor and changed lure to a Bubble pop, Blooping fast with a short pause was the key to these nocturnal maniacs, Again this turned out to be one hell of a session with over 20 fish seeing my old town loon!!! My camera is so crap at night but the best fish was 43cm but none were under 20cm, sorry about the crap photos. Also still searching for people who fish from yaks if anyone's keen drop us a PM.
  5. That's a real shame, Bloody carp. If you know any local Secret spots to try out you can PM me Sounds like a challenge anyway...
  6. What natives are in there? Cod? Prob a stupid Question but have never fished that river before.
  7. Will be camping at Abercrombie caves this weekend, Wondering what fishing is to be had there??? Is it worth taking my Yak? Cheers in advance.
  8. Anyone fishraiders here on the Central Coast fish from Kayaks? I fish just about every morning before work (sun up Till bout 8.30am) If so get in touch, Mainly fish Brisbane waters for Bream/Eps/Flathead/whiting/bridge Jew and whatever else. Just out to share some knowledge and hope to learn some as well. Over and Trout!
  9. Best gig in Australia I have seen in the Past few years was. Motorhead Rose Tattoo Airbourne. When Airbourne come back to Australia I recommend EVERYone go and see them, The show is a powerhouse of energy and Aussie rock n roll in the style of AC/DC.
  10. I have been asked to submit a recipe of choice to a book that is being printed this year and my deadline is April 18th... I was going to do a bream recipe with a seafood side, The only thing is what fish equals Bream in other countries like America, and Europe/Uk and so on. I guess any fish with white flesh would work for them but just wanted to get your opinions..
  11. Cheers for all the feedback, I have kept Cod before, But it smashed everything I put in the tank with it... cuttlefish or squid would be great apart from the fact every time you walk into the room it would cloud the tank with ink
  12. I want to try and keep Bream in a Fish Tank and Maybe Eps Has anyone tried this before??? I know bream can adapt to fresh so will they ween off salt to fresh in a tank situation..?? My tank is 5ft x 1.5ft x 2ft Any help would be great as I'm not sure what to keep in this tank.
  13. That's one strange looking craft mate, And just by looking at it I can see it would make it through a WWII mine field!!! Not sure if its what i am after tho... One thing I really want is front or Center steering console. Wouldn't mind giving you a call about Juno some time tho
  14. Thanks for your help... I'm leaning towards not buying it. It is cheap but I can see it needing attention and draining the wallet, the motor is old... I'm thinking I will save more and buy something else that's not glass. but as I said I don't know to much about the topic. Jewgaffer you saying it would be fine around Juno / Lion Island makes me want to buy it, But I think I would have to get a new motor for it and I know they are not cheap!!!! Arrghhh I wish I could make up my mind...
  15. Thanks for the replies and PM raiders.. Still looking.
  16. I have been catching them all around the top end, and In weird places, Drains that go under the roads in Gosford is one place, But this action was a small creek.
  17. I know NOTHING about boats.. I have been offered this boat by my boss for $1500... Do you think thats a good price? He says everything works fine and its got rego.. If anyone knows Juno, would I be able to take a small boat like this there? Any help is good.. Cheers Shannon.
  18. Went for a little jew adventure tonight, Had the bait in the water just on high and kept hearing these surface smashes that I would put down to bass.. Saying to myself no NO! keep fishing for Jew despite the full moon I was keen to go against what people said about this spot. But it was not long till I broke and pulled out a B-pivot and first cast Ep, Second cast. EP EP EP, they were going MENTAL Got 22 all up biggest being 40cm, smallest being 28cm. I even got them on an SX40 when I felt the need to experiment. INSANE!!!! 40cm EP You can see the B-Pivot in this one. What a night to remember 22 EPS who would dream!
  19. If anyone knows about the Jackson T-Pivot I have been looking for the exact hooks to replace, I tried using other styles but the Lure does not work well. Has a very fine treble and a stinger on the back.. Any help on where to get them would be great and three of my shops have no idea.. The Lures are 35mm long just to get an idea of hook size.
  20. Forget the line and use a trap. put in some bread and watch em all flow in.
  21. We stocked Cod, Yella's and silver Perch in 3 dams around our farm, They all went well, Not as many Cod survived as the perch, but they still lived.
  22. I done a lot of fishing around ACT and there are Cod and Yella in Ginninderra, I used live Yabbies and Lures from the bank and got Cod, Yella, Redfin and carp. Carp are a lot of fun despite what everyone says. You can get other live bait from around the shore as well like shrimp and so on.. Plastics also work as well!
  23. Never picked you as a church goer mate, thats a lot of money to give to the church. Mines going to japan. Oh well I'm still supporting my local tackle store.

    Kayak?

The only advise I can give is keep the set-up simple.. Get a Yak you can easy put on your car roof and launch on your own. Looking at some yaks that people have decked out I can help but laugh, Their Yak I know... But I watched this guy trying to launch a Viking one morning that had sooooo much gear on it you would think he was heading out for a month, but in reality he was only out to catch a few Bream. Takes me 5min max to start paddling from when I pull up in my car. Mine is an OLD TOWN "loon" and I think they are about $1200 new.. and only 20kg or under. It still catches fish without the gear!!
  25. Hey Steve, Sure mate, Send us a PM and we will line up a session!!
