  1. Went back this morning for another session the same.... but this time I got my PB bream at 40cm and let me tell you it was scary on super light leader!!! bloody camera went flat before a snapshot tho arrgghhh Warren, Did you get another good Jew? My last weekend I could not fish!!! arrgghh!!
  2. Arrived at my spot at 6am and loaded the yak into the drink and headed to my destination... I had not fished for over a week since all the rain and had to go away last weekend so I was keen as to get a line strait! After a short paddle and a few flicks with a shallow diver I noticed Bait and Bream kisses around like I have never seen or heard before, A quick change of lure to a T-Pivot had me right in the action first cast with a nice Bream. Prawns were skipping EVERYWHERE this morning so I new I should just head to my grounds and unleash. After 10 min's I arrived and thanks to a soft breeze I had a perfect drift over shallow ground on a rising tide just before the sun stuck its head over the mountains. I stuck with the T-Pivot until the treble an jhook was beyond repair.. all up had 17 legal bream and 15 was on the T-Pivot. I kept 6 fish for a BBQ tomorrow and the rest were left to fight another day, Does anyone love the easy release with the T-Pivot J-hook on the back?? I think the rain has helped out in a massive way!!!! And cant wait for tomorrow morning.
  3. Best report I have read here!!!! These are my killer stats with dedicated Jew sessions.. Jew = 10 High Speed Metal = 0 Fishing stores = $$$$ Wallet = FAIL!
  4. New trebles for sure!! 100%!! As for what fish you would target with them, Thats what my Trout Lures look like. You will catch Bream with them maybe. cant say as I have never used them in Salt before... I have used Tassie Devils on Flathead the two bottom right ones.
  5. I mainly use bubblepops with bream as Hodgey said (roughly 1 rod movements per second) BUT I find pausing is when I get 80% of my hook ups. But as you are after Whiting I would keep on the move at a fast pace... as they get very excited and fight each other for the Lure. Flathead tho for me are like bream and most on the pause. Shallow water is always the key with poppers, 15cms will get you fish....
  6. Last time I went to the Nepean we had the boat in by 5.30am and worked HARD for 5 bass that were tiny.. The biggest being 31cm on a jitter just down from the boat ramp... I worked Plastics spinners, divers, with follows but none found hooks. We decided to do an arvo session as well and had about the same result. Found the best lure of the trip to be a small spinner with a plastic grub on the hook. tough times when I can be at home catching 40cm+ Bass.
  7. The Loomis is a top rod and more than happy with mine, I have loaded it up with 50+cm Bass and it has the power! and also great for Super light 2lb strait through Fluro bream fishing as well. Your pick of braid is also great! once you have used that spool of 6lb Sunline PE, try stepping up to Sunline castaway.
  8. Darkhorse, I have the Same rod for Bream and I can cast SX40 miles away with 6lb Sunline PE. I also have a bigger reel, SOL2500. I find the rod perfect for small lures. EDIT: I also use a Half rod 4lb Sunline Rock leader. 8Lb in structure.
  9. Give these two places a go for sure.. Really keen to hear how you go, as I want to head down there again soon. with the kings and beecroft keep your bait close to the rocks as they cruse very close and if you keep your eyes open you see them a lot. Throwing big stick baits works for them there and you can also get squid at times. I normally throw around Raiders and Poppers also. I find fishing on the left of the Cave (looking at sea) is best. But I have seen massive fish landed on both sides. if you do an early session and nothing is happening stick around, I have seen bites go mental here after 11am. Its also a little walk of about 20/30mins nothing hard but just look at the map as you go in and you will see. The Tubes is good as well, but it gets very crowded this time of year, If you have not fished there before I would just take a spin stick a few metals and just have a look. Live baiters down there are territorial at times.
  10. What were the fillets like on that flathead? strange shape, have never seen one like that before.
  11. 6lb sunline on my SOL 2500.. Perfect match. used 10lb and did not like it at all.
  12. have not done a report in a while as I have been spending every spare second on my new Old Town Loon Yak. Over the last two weeks I have been working around Woy Woy/Gosford/Erina Creek to get used to this new fishing tool, After overcoming some issues in the yak like what to do and what not to do, what to take and so on I finally feel comfortable and confident. I have been popping and shallow diving only from 5.30am until around 9 or whenever the wind picks up, As I have worked out wind and Kayaks do NOT get along, I have lost Lures in Mangroves and dropped pliers over-board and a baby bream put a treble through my thumb. haha. But to the fishing, It has been Hard work some days being better than others but I have only come up fish-less on one occasion but with a lot of slow mornings, bream and Eps have been the target to start with. With the bream I have been using Stiffy Poppers and river to sea Bubble Pops. Working at a fast pace then pausing with inquisitive fish on just about every cast around the leases, But only 1 out of 10 times found the hook. I also lost a lot of gear as even a 35/40cm bream will pull around a yak and I was a little confused as what to do to start with as there is was so much deadly structure around.... Learning how to Hold a fish tight and carefully paddle with one hand is a must learn haha... Have only got One EP in the yak so far, Kayaks are so perfect for this Small river fishing only problem again is the blasted wind!! Salmo sinking 3.5cm in fallen tree snags was getting me a heap of solid strikes but again with so much structure around I was quickly made into a fool! Another issue is Photos, I catch and release unless I have a BBQ planned in advance. So I still have not worked out a tripod system yet, Any Ideas? Taking pictures of just the fish in the yak does not cut it for me. Ups and downs of Yak fishing is fun but Hectic at times. Fisherman in Boats I find 9 times out of 10 have respect for a lone yak fisherman, as for wake boarders riding what seems like a 10 foot wake in a yak is no fun at all! Some BBQ Bream Mine is on the right. Sunrise is a great time in a yak. the Only thing I have done to pimp my yak so far is a rod Holder But I'm looking for a good cheaper sounder, Live bait tank, so any ideas fire away.
  13. Do you live in a cinema or something mate haha.. EDIT: I have also been thinking about the L/H Wind as I cast with my right. One of my mates does it and he looks a lot more comfortable
  14. That's not the spirit mate haha!! You seem to have tried a few different methods but keep at it.... Botany is a great place to fish!!! My fave on the botany flats is by far drifting and casting small 3.5cm sinking hard body's with a slow roll with the rod tip high and hard twitches.. Last time I was there Black was the colour that worked and the lure was a small hornet style by Salmo.. That morning was heaps of bream flathead and BIG trevs. Fishing gear is never a waste of money.! keep at it! If you have had enough sell me your boat real cheap!!! haha
  15. great fish mate!! Going to give the Shoalhaven a go in my Loon soon if you have any hints give us a PM mate..
  16. Thats more like it!! Good catch... I was wondering if your scales read in Pounds
  17. Any Photos yet??? We also done Botany drifting in the shallows and throwing hard body bream lures and Had a blast with not only bream but good fighting trevs.... 5.8kg Bream
  18. Sand mullet... Bull mullet.... Sea mullet haha I never thought of how many mullets there were... To be honest I thought they were bull Mullet but maybe they are sea mullet... and they will not bite... Not sure how salt the water is... I know at this place the water must be close to fresh as the water running into it comes from the hills and not the sea.... Also something weird I seen was as the mullet would go past something would rise underneath them then go down out of site when they passed... It was very strange and happened about 4 times...
  19. Went to this place I found looking for Bass and there a schools and schools of massive bull mullet... So I went back there today But could not get onto any of them.. I had Bread and floats and so on and done everything I would normally do with poddy mullet but nothing even with burly they would just cruse up and down... up and down... it was kinda strange as I thought Bull Mullet were an easy target like mullet.. How do you all target them. I tried Float 2 hooks and float, No float, Burly, Sight Casting, argh everything.. I did get a few Gar but thats it.
  20. This is so true, Its easy to tie at home but if you cant do your knot out on the water in wind and so on you can miss some great action... I have seen some people take up to 10mins to get their big fancy knot to work after 3 attempts... keep it simple and practice it. It takes me no time at all to replace a leader and lure due to sticking with the same one for so many years... double uni.
  21. Depends on the day, But normally a slow roll on sand flats works well with a few sharp jerks added in. if im fishing in deeper water I will let it drop.. then mid pace lift the rod through the retrieve.. there are a few ways to skin a cat. just figure out what works best for you.
  22. I like blades but give the stiffys a miss... Mine broke mid fight with a whiting early last week. Dont know how many people this happened to but kinda pissed me off... I was kinda wondering how strong they would be being plastic but hey... Im just glad i tested it on the flats and not with thumping bass.. Wrote a very polite email to them with no reply.
  23. I have used the Double Uni for many years I mainly fish 6/8lb braid and 8lb up ROCK leader, NEVER has my knot failed. The leader has broken and also the mainline but the uni has never failed. it has landed some massive fish. if you do it right with lots of lube and the right amount of turns you will not fail. My 2 cents.
