  2. Daiwa Emcast would be around that price point, if available to you. probably a better casting reel than the Rovex. But have not used a Rovex myslelf. Cheers John
  3. Nice work on the kings Jon
  4. Hi Rob & welcome to Fishraider Think you pretty free to anchor up at any beach you like, but be aware of keeping the correct distance from swimmmers etc. Also be aware (if you are new to boating) of how you anchor - not sure whether you are anchoring just off the beach in couple of meters of water or whether you plan to stick your bow on the beach and place your anchor in the dry sand up on the beach. If its the latter, be aware of the action of tide and waves as boats can come to grief being nose up on sand if they swing around and get a bit sideways to the incoming waves and end up being swamped. Cheers Blood Knot
  5. Good luck down South takethebait - Great to hear you are getting some good oil from the site Cheers Blood Knot
  6. Plus one for what rick says - aluminium boats are nice and light but the wind across the boat ramp can be a pain if blowing hard. Doesnt happen very often but have a think about wind direction if its blowy and rope onto the appropriate rear corner if you are on your pat malone. Cheers Blood Knot
  7. Your a good sport for sharing Luke and it makes the rest of us who have all done this stuff and not fessed up to it feel a bit more human. Cheers Blood Knot

  12. Welocme to Fishraider Rick - Hope you enjoy being here Cheers Blood Knot
  13. Reckon the rusting trebles is about some glitch or quality ctrl issues in the pickling, neutralising or plating process (no expert on their process - just my guess). But have noticed those nickle plated trebs seem to be the worst culprits. Cheers
  14. Here are some more questions please: 1. Some rings, seems, are not touched by rust/corrosion . Why is that? Are they likely made from some special metal? May be stainless split rings 2. Are freshwater trebles good for estuary fishing? They will be OK but may be less well protected from corrosion than there salt water counterparts 3. Red trebles, seems ,are resisting better to rust. Is there some explanation? They have a coating on them - possibly an alkyd resin coating or japanning process that offers some degree of protection. 4. Is there good place to buy small trebles in small bulk - 50? Your local tackle shop should be able to help you 5. Do you wash Soft Plastic after fishing? Not usually as they have been pushed on to a jig head and if left in place will expedite rusting of the hooks, so you take them off - but if you want to wash and keep them, then you will have to be aware that thet have allready had holes made in them. Short answer dont bother with this as they arent that expensive anyway. 6. I read somewhere in the past that is suggested to keep a piece of wool or small sponge with some oil in the lure box to reduce the humidity etc? Do you know anything about it? Struggle to see how a piece of wool or sponge soaked in oil would reduce water vapour in the atmosphere in your tackle box - you could perhaps wipe your hooks / rings with it, but you would want to be sure that it does not create a scent that would repel fish. 15. Hi Undy - Just saw your post with feedback on the bearings. Thanks for that mate. Cheers Blood Knot.
  16. No need to apologise Budzsta, it was a good thread and getting plenty of interest from members. Keep em coming mate Cheers Blood Knot
  17. Congrats on your first Kingie, Nelson. Sticking to the squid plan paid off, great report too Cheers Blood Knot
  18. Hi Zack Sounds more like a two stroke than a four stroke. Assuming you motor is actually a two stroke then the owners "oil mix - in tank strategy" is not unusual. But it would be definite problem if it is a four stroke. Welcome to Fishraider by the way Cheers Blood Knmot
  19. Awesome cod - Congratulations on that fiveflies Cheers Blood Knot
  20. Cheers Ricardo & welcome to Fishraider - think you are our first from Portugal Blood Knot
  21. Jig heads need to be sized to suit the plastic your using and what you want the plastic to do - if the fish are holding or feeding around the area directly under the hull, then use a jig head that will maximise your time in the strike zone. (Hidden weight system jig heads are good cause they dont slam into the hull if you over cook the delivery and spook the bream). Cheers Blood Knot
  22. I don’t target flathead but catch a lot as by-catch when targeting bream so believe lure type or colour is not so critical for these fish, what works is keeping the lure in touch with the bottom (constant lift & drop retrieve) and fishing where the fish are. If pushed for a call on a lure I would use a single tail chartreuse coloured plastic. Cheers Blood Knot
  23. Nice work there Ricardo - not too sure about sea bream (is it a gilt head bream ?) but believe they can get pretty large. Cheers Blood Knot
