ant1000
Would anyone be interested in doing some "social" beach fishing? Would probably be better once the water / air temp gets hotter, but nearly everyone could do it (no boats needed) and the area to fish (ie beach) would accomodate heaps of people. No real "specialist" tackle is needed either, as those without beach rods could work the shallows for choppy tailor, whiting etc. Area to hold it could be done by popular vote. Anyone interested? Any thoughts?

orangeguy
not a bad idea, we could also give the lake a go if the action on the beach is slow.

Little_Flatty
My mate has made me promise him I'll be hung over on that day (it's his b'day the night before) but if I can convince my dad to take me (won't be hard) and my mum to let him go (a super-human achievement) I'll be there! ant1000
Well it seems that those dates in August are not too good. Maybe we should allow more time? It would give the weather a chance to warm up, and maybe the majority of interested fisho's could make it. Septemeber? 16th & 17th? 23rd &24th? All suggestions welcome. The more raiders that can make it the better! Also, pushing the date back gives me more time to practice....

Well Ant:-) If you are there for the weekend I'm sure some of the guys (and **maybe** lil' ol' me) would happily combine it with the september b'day celebration previously discussed. Plan is to have a fish then retire to Narrabeen Sands or something (me not local - locals advise please!) for a few Mike ps sorry for mispelling your name the smiley monster is out and about - see that's what happens to them! ant1000
Guys, even though I threw out the beach fishing idea it seems the Jew Social has gathered far more momentum and as a result I too have jumped on that bandwagon. I'd rather score a ride and sit in a boat than get wet feet and sore arms from casting - geez I sound like a whinging Pom!! Have a good time if it goes ahead, if not maybe reschedule till 07?????? Flightmanager
We seem to have lots of good ideas for social events , and plenty of free weekends available . 6Th August : Black Fish Social / Georges River 16th/17th September : Jewfishing / Hawkesbury 30th September : Beachfishing / Narrabeen , Stanwell Park Cant gaurantee I'll be able to make all of them , but should be able to work something out. MODS , could we have an events calendar that would tell us what events are on ? Ross

Guest madsmc
There is a calendar, the link is at the top left of the page. This weekends Blackfish social is listed on the calendar. Any other social events can be listed on the calendar once they are deemed viable (ie: enough interest from members) and one or two members volunteer to organise the event. The proposed socials we have at present, Jew Social and Beach Social, are both great ideas and seem to have generated some interest. As has been suggested earlier, all that is required to really get things going is to have some members volunteer to organise proceedings. The Swordies, and some of our other members, have done some excellent work in organising previous socials, so have a look through the social day threads in the Social Events forum to get an idea of what is involved in orgainising a social event. I'm sure they, and the rest of the admin/mod team, will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Shane
