  3. I drove from Sydney to Darwin to go fishing for 6 months, I also regulary drive to hat head for a fish, so driving a couple of hours up the road isn't really a huge distance for me. Maybe for you born and bred Sydney folk it is though...

  6. all i can say is holy shit.....nice kingies, was the jewie a bycatch when downrigging for kings? or were you actually targeting a jewie?
  7. There will be plenty of room, the larger rims will (need to) have lower profile tyres so the rolling diamater of the wheel stays the same or and inch larger

  11. CFD, Did you watch the last round of the '06 V8 supercars??? Rick Kelly in the above pic posted and Craig Lowndes were nech to neck for championship points and Rick Kelly basically barged lowndes off the track which buggered lowndes's car giving Rick the points to take out the 06 championship over lowndes.....what dont you like? ahhh must be a Holden fan, shame on you, have we possibly started WW3 with the Ford and holden battle here?? "Behind Lowndes Rick Kelly either braked too late or went for a gap that wasn't quite there and hit Lowndes, pushing him into the side of brother Todd, with both Todd Kelly and Craig Lowndes sent into a spin. Rick Kelly escaped unscathed, Todd managed to rejoin safely in 13th while Lowndes, broadside in the hairpin, was hit heavily in the front by Will Davison who was left with nowhere to go, badly damaging the steering on Lowndes' car, giving it several degrees of toe out. Lowndes completed the lap in 15th but was 23rd one lap later. For his part in the incident, Rick Kelly quickly received a drive-through penalty, dropping him to 30th and last place, but while his car was undamaged and still had speed, Lowndes continued to struggle and drift down the order, dropping to last after pitting on lap six. From there on it was a matter of continuing for both drivers, Kelly making slow but steady progress to finish 18th, while Lowndes pitted two more times for front tyres to finish four laps down in 29th." Cheers Joe

  13. classic! The fish have to get one up on us every now and then...got a pic of your foot???
  14. Here is my list...hope its not too basic for you. Rat - Small King Fish Hoodlum - Large King fish Bull - large dolphin fish Soapie - small Jew fish Lizard - Flathead Croc - very large flathead chopper - tailor Mowie - Morwong, some people also call deep sea bream. Mono - standard fishing line Braid - Strong braided fishing line, no memory, thinner, stronger and more feel than mono but not as abrasive resistant. Livie - live smaller fish used to catch larger fish. usually put on a live bait rig with two hooks, one through the nose and one through the back and either trolled with a down rigger or suspended under a float or ballon. Bait caster - Overhead casting reel. Spinning reel - egg beater style reel. Jigging - using a jig style lure, drop it down to your desired depth and use a jigging action to bring it back to the surface (hopefully with a large fish on it) bomb - large sinker used for down rigging Down rigging - a winch style device attched to your boat, it has a large sinker on the bottom, it has a clip on it which attches to your fishing line. you use the device to keep your bait at your desired depth when trolling, when the fish grabs your bait and gets hooked, your fishing line becomes unclipped from the downrigger. Trolling - Driving along at a slow speed with lures or down riggers. Cheers Joe
  15. Yeah, we caught crap laods of em at the FR jew social...they didnt last real long. They look like a good livie if you pinned it straight after you caught it though. We didnt have the silver biddy maggot syndrome CFD and sammy had though...
  16. Beautiful work mate, i like your lure choice.. Oyster rack + SX40 = BREAM!!!! Cheers Joe
  17. Hey mate, The main mistake first time lure users make is not targeting the fish properly and just sit there all day casting there lure out into the water version of a desert...First of all you need to find structure such as weed beds, sand banks, drop offs, trees hanging over the water, logs, jetty's etc. You need to know where the fish are before you start throwing lures other wise your wasting your time, then you have to choose the appropriate lure for the occasion for example if there is trees hanging over the water and you can hear cicada's everywhere you would choose to use a cicade bubble pop or something that resembles a cicada, notice and take in the enviroment around you before you choose the lure colour. Have a range of different depth, colours, swimming action and sized lures in your tackle box so you have always got something that suits the environment your fishing in. Another mistake is use a too agresive lure action, When your fishing the hardbodies make sure you let it rise for a few second between switches to allow the fish to have a crack at it, most bream ill be to timid to smash a lure flying through the water at speed, just a couple of gentle switches and let it rise...The ecogear SX40 lure packets have a pretty good explaination of the lure action you should be using. Casting technique is another big thing as well...make sure your landing that lure right on the snag, give it one or 2 gentle switches within 1 metre of the snag it where you will usually get hit. 1. Select your species you wish to taget 2. understand the envirnment your fishing in. 3. figure out where the fish would be. 4. select your lure my tips are for targetting bream/bass, cheers Joe
  18. Hey mate, My mate has a very similar hull to that...the same punt style with the sides on it, apparantly hard to get a hold of cause no one wants to get rid of em. His is a Quinny, but i cant remember the model ill have to ask him, is there storage compartments under the front platform?.. awsome little rig though.. Cheers Joe
