james7
Have you ever arrived at the beach after a long drive to find that you’ve left something at home? It happened to me recently down the south coast. It was a perfect day and I had everything … except my rod holders. I stood on the beach cursing while my fishing partner showed his ingenuity and fixed the problem in a few minutes. It’s amazing what you can do with three sticks and a thong. The rod holder proved to be effective because ten minutes after setting it up, a small salmon (50cm) smashed the light rig and it held together until I could grab the rod. It just proves how smart and inventive fishermen are! This makes me ask, have any of you got any instances of creativity and innovation that has ‘saved the day'? james7
How to make your own brilliant new beach rod holder © Detailed and complicated instructions 1. Find three sticks (Please try and use Australian made sticks and not imported sticks) 2. Find a thong (footware - not the other kind) (It really has to be a thong. I tried using slippers and work boots but none worked as well as a thong) 3. Put sticks into sand (The correct angle is 47.55º) 4. Put thong onto the sticks 5. Place fishing rod in between thong and stick 6. Catch big fish (optional)
tonyt
can you use five pluggers or is it an overkill?
marlin1962
that's a great idea ,when you break a thong you always throw away the other one,now there is a use for it------you should patend this .----

james7
MacGuiver aussie style Yeah, but the real MacGyver would have made it more than a rod holder. It would have an electric rewind, put the bait on, and cast too!
