Ray R
G'day Raiders, I went for a quick fish in the rain this arvo, the sea is building but the bit where I fished was okay, I just bought a new rain jacket so today was a good test. I had a couple of enquiries on the rig as I stood in the rain next to my rod, then I saw a flash and heard the grumble of thunder , so I bolted back the rock overhang where my gear was and waited for it to pass. Well 15 mins went by, the grumblings had gone so I went back to my rod and heaved it of the bottom, I felt a small amount of movement and when I got the rig close to the edge I could see a little reddie, the poor little bugger had been bouncing around out there all that time. I baited up again and cast it out and I'm on again and yes it's another little reddie, that was enough for me. Anyway the weather now is totally rank so I packed up and came home. So today my new wet jacket had a great test and it passed with flying colours, and although it was horrible around there I still managed a couple of little fishies.. Cheers.. jewiehaven
Beautiful colours in the pinkie Ray You are obviously @ South Avoca right??? Have you recently fished North Avoca in thre cod-hole off the stones??? Might have to try there again very soon- it has been any years and we used to fish off the cliff above the North Avoca point- good place to get Taylor, Snapper and Sambo's + the odd gummy throen in... last I heard it was blocked off due to not being stable and fears of a rock adn landslide. Well done on the pinkie mate Cheers Anthony

james7
Good on you for getting out Ray! You're keener than me. I'm a "fair weather fisherman!" Still, we all really appreciate you going down and catching a few fish, posting a report including fantastic photos. The snapper picture is terrific! slinkymalinky
great post and nice Pinky Ray Before I got into boats, and in the early days as a Sydney resident, one of my favourite spots was driving to Avoca and walking around to the high spot near the gully at the south end of the Avoca platform... if you know where I mean. It's been forever since I fished there but if I ever get down that way again for a fish, hope you might be open to wetting a line with a cane toad. You've made me nostalgic Cheers, Slinky

Richard Warren
Congratulations. You are one keen angler. I supose the good thing about fishing on a day like that is that you don't have to battle with the crowds.
