Ray R
G'day Raiders, I had a few spare hours today so I went around the rocks for a fish. It was a nice arvo with some good fish, while I was blackfishing a large school of Bonito turned up, so I ditched the blackfish gear and grabbed my light spin outfit, I ended up with 3 horsies and it was a heap of fun to land a few of these fiesty little fellas again. So they past by and I was back to black, had a couple of downs and then this pig decides to jump onto the cabbage, mate what a tussle, I thought that thing was way too big for the gear I had but I let him swim in and around the ledges and soon he tired himself out and I was lucky to have a nice washy area to slide him up as I would not have been able to lift him. He was a great fish an I estimated that he was about 45 or so cms and very round and fat. So I continued fishing and scored a small blackfish and I only just got him in and my pig shredded line snapped. So after all this excitment I had a move further down the rocks and had a bottom bash, I hoiked out a nice piece of squid , sat back and waited. I chatted with some other fishos and then the big rod goes off. This had a huge amount of weight in it and I heaved into it and started to turn this beast back towards the rocks. Well it took me 5 mins but I got this monster in, it is the biggest banjo I have seen and by far my biggest. Did not have my mat with me so I put my rod down next to it and measured it later, it was approx 107-110 cms. Anyway I played with the blackies again and scored another little fella and after this I decided to call it a day. So that was my arvo, twas a beauty I really enjoyed and look forward to getting down there again..
slinkymalinky
Nice mixed bag, Ray. Now tell the truth... knowing how big your feet are I'd pick that Pig as having to be at least 7 or 8kg? Cheers, Slinky

gje
Mate I have and old pair of Mirage rock boots(metal studs have worn away) and a pair of ice cleats over the top.. I thought you had a apir of rock boots on but I could not make out out what was strapped to them. we used to screw self tapers into the soles of plastic sandles & strap them over our sandshoes. Now i just wear standard rock cleats. I guess you can buy the ice cleats from specialist hiking & camping outlets ? Cheers, Scoop
