Port Stephens- Comp weekend (added)

G’day raiders,

Just a quick report from up here.

Fished Friday arvo with the family minus the eldest who now has a car and doesn’t know where Home is! (17). Anyway, very windy and took an hour to find a spot but we finally found our target and managed 25 whiting between the 5 of us.

Headed to Broughton after a late start due to an alarm malfunction. It was very quiet and water was filthy and the best temp we got was 19.0 worst was 17.4.

I only managed one bite on sps but a solid one it was and in came a nice snaps at 73cm. Also scored a sea bream at 35cm and a bonito. Caught a heap of reds at 30cm but all released. Found a pack of rat kings that kept us amused for a while but overall a tough day!

Thanks for reading,

cheers scratchie!!! 575457F4-AB97-4255-932D-F3B67EECB844.png

Thanks for the report, Jeff. Nice snapper. On Thursday, I got 19 degrees at The Sisters and 20 at Cod Rock.

Hope the water warms up soon!

Cheers Baz. The warmer water is on its way :)

An alarm malfunction ???

(If you are near the water, leave some chips outside on a table. The early morning seagulls will wake you with their squawking and fighting over the chips. )

A nice reddie there, plus the flatties as a bonus.

Good bumper there Jeff , u know Broughton like the back of your hand , how deep and what jig head mate?

Lol, I should do Craig, my boat has auto pilot for Broughton! Haha

i was using my usual weapon,

1/4 4/0xh tt nitro jig paired with a 5inch zman shad in coconut ice. This is the best lure/jig pairing for snapper bar none!

I was fishing in 8-15m of water. Pretty skinny but I was lucky as he headed for the deep!

If they are on fire, I’ll use a 1/4 5/0xh with a 7inch same colour.

On the flatty, a 1/6 3/0 nitro 5inch zman in pilchard.

Next time your up mate, hit me up for a tour!

Cheers scratchie!!!
