Just outside port hacking

Gday raiders,

Headed out on Thursday - just outside port hacking. It was quite still out there, very slow drift, no wind no current.

All I was catching was small flathead - tried a few different depths to get something larger worth keeping

picked up a nice 35cm flounder - lucky for me, one of my favourite table fish.

On the way home gave it a shot over some reef, only a wirrah - which was returned. Pretty fish though.

Unfortunately great weather days dont always produce the fish but it makes for a great day out.

Still one great quality fish in the flounder.

Shame the Wirrah wasnt double the size, I have read some people saying they are tough as an old boot while others say great to eat, would be interested in trying one myself.

At least a nice flounder for the table.

I've found lately that there is an abundance of small spikey flatties kicking about, even a bit further out. The blue spots have been out in some deeper water, so you will need to move out further.

It’d probably make a good fish soup

I also pulled up 3 small occys. 2 let go when they were close to the surface and one suctioned itself to the bottom of the hull and I couldn’t get it up.

drifted 30m then 40m but will try working up from those in 10m increments next time.
